Reviews
By Rob Pedrick
Out And About with
CRASHROCKET
Local original artist CD’s to review are becoming far
and few between. Streaming is the norm now, and I
get it. So, while I will still be reviewing CDs as they come
in, I’m taking a different path. I’m going to start reviewing
local band performances. Cover bands, original bands
of most any genre. My soon to be ex-wife (yes, it’s true)
has always called me a band snob. That’s because I’m always
checking out a bands’ gear, musicianship, dynamics,
vocals, set list and more. While I will still be doing that, I
will also be checking out overall volume and crowd reaction.
You’ll never know where I may pop up! You can also
hit me up via Brevard Live and request a listen. You must
have a decent web page, and I show preference if you’re
at a venue that advertises with Brevard Live.
This month’s review will be for the band “Crashrocket”.
I really didn’t know what to expect my first time out.
I figured, yeah, just another bar band. I was way off target.
This band is the total real deal. I can’t remember seeing
such a great cover band. They perform covers from the
70’s, 80’s, 90’s and even new stuff. A very eclectic set
list. Journey, Cheap Trick, Boston, Aerosmith and tons
more. Never missing a beat, and if you closed your eyes,
you almost thought the original band was playing their
song. Volume was perfect. The PA was setup so the whole
venue could enjoy the show. Showmanship and musicianship
were excellent. Vocals and harmonies were spot on.
The frontman/lead vocalist had the crowd involved with
almost every song, walking around the venue and engaging
the patrons. The dance floor was full all night with
people dancing or just singing along. I almost shed a tear
when they played the Cheap Trick tune “The Flame”. One
of my favorite songs for obvious reasons. Great band!
Crashrocket is out of Deland Florida. They play all
over the state and have quite a following. Band members
are Glenn Bailey (lead vocals/guitar), Paul Murphy (bass/
back up vocals), Jenie Ashbaugh (drums/vocals), and Brian
Magner (lead guitar/back up vocals).
If you’re checking out venues on a weekend for
something to do and Crashrocket is playing, you got to
catch these guys. You will not be disappointed! You can
reach Crashrocket at glenn-bailey@hotmail.com or on
Facebook.
Remember, I’ll be out there somewhere, checking
you guys out!
