The <strong>ELCO</strong> solution<br />

Thanks to the choice of a separate heating and<br />

domestic hot water setup, there is minimal downtime<br />

and higher efficiency. This is continuously analysed by<br />

the building management system. Van der Valk Hotels<br />

uses this type of system at a number of its venues. The<br />

results are expected to be similar for projects of the<br />

same size.<br />

RESIDENTIAL<br />

Van der Valk Hotel Venlo expands<br />

with 107 rooms.<br />

The newly built part of the hotel is heated by a bivalent heating<br />

solution, with a heat pump working together with powerful,<br />

energy efficient units from <strong>ELCO</strong>. The hot water is also<br />

produced by an <strong>ELCO</strong> system.<br />

The challenge<br />

The choice was made to design the installation to allow different heat<br />

solutions to work together: From natural gas to waste heat storage<br />

with heat pump technologies. The combination of existing and new<br />

technologies led to the decision to use separate products for heating<br />

and hot water.<br />

Comment<br />

The aim was to provide energy efficient heating without compromising<br />

on comfort, while expanding the heating system in the existing building.<br />

It was therefore decided to decouple heating and hot water. Here, the<br />

heat pump provides heating with the support of the <strong>ELCO</strong> boilers, which<br />

also guarantees plenty of hot water. This is indicative of the energyefficient<br />

and green approach being taken to ensure all Van der Valk<br />

hotels are more sustainable.<br />

This DHW (Domestic Hot Water) version of<br />

the THISION® L EVO series is almost identical<br />

to that of the heating boiler, with the special<br />

316 stainless steel, allowing the DHW to flow<br />

directly into the boiler.<br />
