The BTEC International Diplomas offer students
a vocational learning opportunity to develop
work related skills, as well as broadening their
academic understanding of business and
contextual application. The courses prepare
students for the world of work and/or further
education. They provide a challenging option
for students who have a keen interest in
Business, as well as offering a unique style of
learning and assessment, which is coursework
based. The BTEC courses are academically
rigorous, requiring equivalent level of
effort and integrity from students. These
courses allow students to develop key
skills for further education such as
detailed referencing and
high-quality research.

BTEC INTERNATIONAL
LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA
IN BUSINESS
The BTEC International Level 2 Diplomas offer learners the knowledge,
understanding and skills that are needed to prepare for employment.
Equivalent to 4 International GCSEs and tailored to the needs of international
schools and colleges, the BTEC is designed for learners who wish to explore a
work-related vocational qualification or specific industry area.
The two-year full-time course consists of:
• Pearson BTEC International Diploma in Business
• Other functional skills qualifications in English, Maths and ICT as needed
(or an opportunity to retake iGCSE qualifications)
• Participation in CAS (creativity, activity and service)
• Time for independent study
To achieve the Diploma, students must successfully complete four mandatory
units and a choice of option units to achieve a combined total of 60 credits.

Each unit within the qualification has specified assessment and grading
criteria which are to be used for grading purposes. A summative unit grade can
be awarded at pass, merit or distinction.

DIPLOMA LEVEL 3
IN BUSINESS
The Level 3 qualification is equivalent to two A Levels and can either lead to the
first step in a career or to University or Polytechnic study.
The BTEC qualifications are vocational courses that are thoughtfully designed
and delivered to prepare students for either the first step in their career or
for further study. The course content is both relevant and engaging, enabling
students to develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in today’s
dynamic work environment. Assessment is conducted through coursework
completed across the two year course duration. Coursework is assessed using
a number of formats from traditional report writing, to creative projects such
as leaflets, posters and filmed contextual role plays. The course is designed to
immerse students in a range of vocational scenarios, equipping them with vital
knowledge and experiences for the future.
The course consists of five mandatory units and optional units totalling 240
Guided Learning Hours.

• Business Decision Making
Students also complete core and optional units of study with subjects ranging
from Planning a Marketing Campaign, Business Decision Making, Event
Planning, Human Resources, Financial Statements, Logistics, Career Planning
and Health & Safety.
