PERAZZI ACQUIRED BY
CZECHOSLOVAK GROUP
Czechoslovak
Group, the
global industrialtechnology
company owned by Czech
entrepreneur Michal Strnad,
has announced the purchase
of the majority stake in the
Italian, family-owned Armi
Perazzi S.p.A., manufacturer
of high-quality shotguns
for sport shooters and elite
hunters.
Typical owners of these
premium firearms, of
which Perazzi produces
approximately 1,500 units
per year, are Olympic
medallists, successful
competitive shooters being
amongst them. One such
individual is the Czech
Olympic gold medal winner
in trap from the 2022 Beijing
Olympics, David Kostelecký.
CSG also operates two
small-calibre ammunition
factories in the USA.
The company’s founder
was Daniele Perazzi, an
Italian gunsmith who
realised his dream of
producing the highestquality
shotguns worldwide
when he founded the Armi
Perazzi company in 1957.
Currently, the company is led
by the founder’s descendants,
Mauro and Roberta Perazzi.
CSG acquires an 80 per
cent stake in the company
while the Perazzi siblings
share the remaining 20 per
cent equally. The business
will continue to be run by
the Perazzi family and the
current management team.
The acquisition process
on the selling side was
assisted by the Milan-based
consulting and investment
company FAI, with legal
advice provided by the law
firm Gianni & Origoni.
The purchase of Perazzi
is CSG’s second major
acquisition in Italy. Last
year, the company acquired
a majority stake in Fiocchi
Munizioni, the manufacturer
of small-calibre ammunition,
which operates production
facilities in Italy, the UK,
and the USA (where it has
two production sites: one
in Ozark, Missouri, and
the second in Little Rock,
Arkansas). Perazzi serves the
American market through its
subsidiary, Perazzi USA Inc.,
in Azusa, California. Perazzi
USA is the sole importer
NEWS
Perazzi acquired by Czechoslovak Group
• Continued from page 3
and distributor for the US
market.
Mauro Perazzi said, “The
decision to find a strategic
partner to whom we would
sell a majority stake in the
company was motivated by
our desire to ensure a secure
future, sustainable growth,
and strengthen the company’s
unique position in the global
luxury arms market. We
decided to partner with CSG,
which also has roots as a
family business, because CSG
understands our history and
business philosophy.”
Roberta Perazzi added,
“With CSG’s entry
into Armi Perazzi, we
expect to strengthen our
competitiveness. We see
CSG as a strong, successful
multinational company that
will allow us to continue to
produce prestigious hunting
and sporting firearms. CSG
will help us succeed in the
market and open up new
business opportunities with
its experience.”
Michal Strnad, owner
of CSG, commented on
the acquisition of Armi
Perazzi: “Armi Perazzi is a
prestigious brand in the field
of firearms for sport shooters
and elite hunters. At the
same time, it is a stable and
prosperous company that the
Perazzi family excellently
manages. The motivation
for this acquisition is
not only financial but
also to strengthen CSG’s
international prestige and
reputation as a global and
innovative industrial group
expanding in Europe and the
USA.”
CSG’s manager responsible
for the acquisition of Armi
Perazzi and its future
development is CSG
investment director Stanislav
Kuba, who summarises the
goals for the company’s
further development:
“We want to maintain the
excellence and exclusivity
of Armi Perazzi products,
bring new customers to the
company, and also to leverage
its strong brand, especially in
connecting CSG further to
the shooting sports.”
A long-time user of
Perazzi shotguns is sport
shooter and successful Czech
trapshooting competitor
David Kostelecký, who
commented on the fact
that the company is being
acquired by a Czech
owner: “I have an excellent
partnership with Armi
Perazzi that has lasted for
over 20 years. They provide
me not only with their great
shotguns, but also with
constant service and support.
I know Mauro and Roberta
Perazzi very well, having
visited their Lombardy
factory on several occasions.
They are great people and
responsible entrepreneurs.
I am very happy that this
prestigious Italian company
is becoming a part of CSG,
and I look forward to
continuing our relationship.”
Recently, CSG also
announced signing an
agreement with the NYSElisted
US company Vista
Outdoor to acquire its
Sporting Products division,
which manufactures leading
global brands of smallcalibre
ammunition such
as Federal and Remington.
The acquisition of Armi
Perazzi proves that CSG is
systematically working on
its strategic plan to build
itself as a global leader in the
sport shooting and hunting
category.
About Armi Perazzi
Armi Perazzi S.p.A. is a firearms company
specialising in the segment of shotguns
for the sport discipline of trap (shooting
at asphalt or clay targets) and for hunting.
Perazzi’s guns have helped top shooters
from different countries win 62 Olympic
medals at 11 Olympics. The company has
offices in Italy and California, USA, and
exports its products to 50 countries.
The company’s founder is the Italian
gunsmith Daniele Perazzi who, in 1956,
filed the first patent for a shotgun of
his production and opened a small
workshop. A year later, he set up a factory
and began hiring employees. Daniele
was personally involved in producing
firearms in his company until he died
in 2012, when he was 80 years old. His
descendants currently run the company.
Roberta Perazzi is in charge of finance
and administration, and Mauro Perazzi is
responsible for production.
Perazzi is located in Botticino,
Lombardy, Italy. The production plant
occupies an area of 9000m2, and the
neighbouring shooting range covers
another 11000 m2.
Armi Perazzi produces an average of
1500 firearms per year. The key business,
which accounts for 80-percent of sales,
is producing models for sport shooting.
Each shotgun is custom-made according
to the customer’s requirements and takes
6 months to produce, from component
machining to testing. Although the
company uses modern technology in its
production, a significant part of a product
is handmade by experienced gunsmiths.
All customers can shoot their guns in
the on-site shooting tunnel before final
testing. The stocks and handguards are
made of walnut from centuries-old trees.
According to the customer’s wishes, the
metal parts of the firearm are engraved
by master craftsmen.
The company’s revenues for 2021
amounted to EUR 14.3 million and is
highly profitable.
About CSG Group
The global industrial-technology group
CSG, owned by Czech entrepreneur Michal
Strnad, has key manufacturing plants
in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain,
Italy, Great Britain, India and the USA,
and exports its products all over the
world. In the USA, CSG is established via
two production facilities of its member
company Fiocchi, which produces small
calibre ammunition in Little Rock,
Arkansas and Ozark, Missouri. CSG also
has a history of cooperation with leading
U.S. corporations like Raytheon and GD
(via its European subsidiary GDELS) and
delivered the unique, portable POLR-1
radar unit (capable of detecting living
objects behind walls and non-metallic
obstacles) to several US customers in the
law enforcement segment.
CSG continuously invests in the
development of its companies while
expanding its core businesses. The group
includes, for example, the Czech car
manufacturer Tatra Trucks, the world’s
leading manufacturer of small-calibre
ammunition, Fiocchi, and the Czech radar
manufacturer Eldis. More than 10,000
employees work in the companies
incorporated into the CSG holding and in
related companies. In 2022, the holding’s
consolidated revenues reached over
USD 1 billion. The main fields of CSG
are engineering, automotive, railway,
aerospace, defence, and production of
small-calibre ammunition. Thanks to
the strong pro-export orientation of the
holding, CSG products can be found on all
continents, and the number of customers
of the holding is constantly growing.
knowledge of the industry, its needs and
challenges.
Leege brings more than a decade of
perspective but also at a personal level.
Our defined goal is now to bring
consistency to this important position.
We are confident that Stefanie is the
right choice for us and will lead the way
in the industry.”
SPAIN SHOWS GENERAL ACCEPTANCE OF HUNTING
The perceived social
acceptance of hunting
underpins every issue that
the hunting community
faces. A significant new
study conducted by
YouGov for the European
Federation for Hunting and
Conservation (FACE) and
the Royal Spanish Hunting
Federation (RFEC), has
revealed that 70 per cent of
Spaniards accept regulated
hunting practices.
The comprehensive
survey, involving over 1,000
individuals from varied
backgrounds across Spain,
was conducted in November
2023. The participants
encompassed a diverse range
of geographical origins, ages,
genders and educational
levels, and thereby provided
an extensive perspective on
the public’s acceptance of
hunting in Spain.
Key Findings
Broad Acceptance: A
notable 70 per cent of
the Spanish population
showed acceptance towards
legally conducted hunting,
affirming its role in the
country.
Gender Perspectives: There
is a noticeable difference
in acceptance rates across
genders, with 78 per cent
of men and 61 per cent of
women showing acceptance.
International Perception:
About 47 per cent
of respondents view
Spaniards’ participation in
hunting abroad positively,
particularly when it benefits
economically, ecologically,
and socially.
Utilisation of Hunted
Animals: Half of the survey
participants view the use of
hunted animals, whether for
meat or as “trophies”, in a
hunters’ role in contributing
to conservation, rural
economies, and antipoaching
efforts.
Initiated by FACE
and several national
federations, including
RFEC, this survey responds
to the growing interest in
environmental issues as
well as the perception of
hunting contribution to
rural economies. In this
context, the ‘Economic and
Social Impact of Hunting in
Spain’ report by Deloitte for
the Fundación Artemisan
quantifies hunting’s annual
contribution of about €6.5
billion and the support of
187,000 jobs in rural Spain.
FACE and RFEC are
dedicated to promoting
responsible hunting
practices. This survey
is key in understanding
the hunting community’s
perception by society.
Methodology
YouGov, a reputable
international market
research and data analysis
firm, employed online
methods for this survey.
Their methodology involves
collecting responses from
an internet user panel, with
demographic weighting to
ensure a demographically
representative sample. This
approach is considered to
provide a more accurate
reflection of public opinion
compared to traditional
polling techniques.
is majority-owned by the industrialtechnology
CEO. David Štěpán, CSG’s investment
director for foreign projects, who
temporarily managed the Fiocchi
Group in the first year after the
acquisition, is being replaced by Paolo
Salvato. David Štěpán will continue to
serve as the CEO of the CSG Ammo+
division and in the next period he will
focus on completing the acquisition of
the ammunition division of Sporting
Products of the American company
Vista Outdoor.
Experienced manager Paolo Salvato
joins Fiocchi Group from Leonardo,
where he managed strategic innovation
projects. He also worked for Thales
Group in charge of the Italian
operations as CEO of Thales Italia,
and vice president for international
business development at the Paris
the British company Lyalvale Express
New Fiocchi CEO,
Paolo Salvato.
and Bologna’s Baschieri & Pellagri into
David Štěpán commented: “I spent
the first year at Fiocchi after the
completion of the acquisition by CSG
and my presence, whether in Italy or
the USA, was essential from the group’s
point of view. Now I have to return to
the divisional level and devote myself
to managing the entire division, which
is why I am stepping down as CEO
Fiocchi. I would like to thank my
colleagues at Fiocchi for their excellent
cooperation and I believe that my
successor, Paolo Salvato, is the ideal
choice for Fiocchi”.
In the coming months, David
Štěpán will focus primarily on the
completion of the acquisition of the
Sporting Products division of the
American company Vista Outdoor,
foreign projects and in particular the
Director of the CSG Ammo+ Division.
ARCHERY TRADE ASSOCIATION
SHOW PROVES A HIT
The 2024 ATA Show’s first trip to St Louis kicked off the year by connecting the
archery industry, with exhibitors reporting strong order writing and retailers
getting their first look at more than 150 newly launched products.
This year’s ATA event attracted more
than 100 archery retailers to their first
ATA Show.
Jeff Poole, ATA’s president and CEO,
said: “The ATA Show continues to
be the best place to see new products,
connect face to face and conduct
business with archery professionals
from around the globe. We’ve heard
great things about the show location,
atmosphere and buying opportunities.”
Overall, both exhibitors and retailers
were satisfied with the 2024 ATA Show.
“The ATA Show is the place to
meet people, make friends and build
relationships,” said David Merrill,
owner of Bow Spider in Riverton,
Wyoming. “I’ve reached a lot of clients
I haven’t in the past by being here in St
Louis. It’s good to get in front of fresh
eyeballs, write orders and sell products
but it’s interactions with the smallest
dealer to the biggest industry influencer
that make the ATA Show irreplaceable.”
Phil Kepple, owner of 4 Arrows
Archery in Weedsport, New York, had
a similar reaction to the show from a
retailer’s perspective. He commented:
“It’s important to make the investment
to come to the ATA Show because
you get business and relationship
opportunities that you wouldn’t get if
you didn’t attend. I’ll say with 100 per
cent confidence, going into my 11th
year of business, that I wouldn’t be in
business if I wasn’t an ATA member and
I didn’t attend the ATA Show.”
New Products
Exhibitors came to impress and
launched a record 156 new products
at the ATA Show. Attendees had the
opportunity to see, touch and test
the products released on day one of
the show, including several bows and
crossbows launched by Obsession Bows,
Excalibur, BALLISTA and more.
“It’s nice to see old friends in person
but I love that I’m able to find new
products and get the best deals on
products here at the Show,” said Judy
Adams, owner of Buffalo Jump Archery
in Helena, Montana. “I hear about
products, and I’ve changed my mind
about them after seeing and testing
them. Being at the show in person helps
me make educated decisions on what I
bring into my shop. That’s key for my
business.”
Networking
All attendees were welcome on the
show floor all three days of the event,
creating opportunities for authentic
interactions.
“Booth traffic has been steady day
after day,” said Scott Johnson, co-owner
of Twisted Iron Hunting. “We met a
lot of great people and we’ve written
some really good orders, but the most
important thing for us is networking.
We made some fantastic contacts with
different companies. I would never
have some of the opportunities I’ve had
without attending the ATA Show. We
will absolutely attend the show next
year and from here on out.”
Award Programme
The ATA honoured Pete Shepley,
founder and leader of PSE Archery
for 50-plus years, with its inaugural
Industry Icon award. The ATA also
awarded winners for the ATA’s Impact
Awards and New Product Showcase
Awards.
The ATA Show returns to Indianapolis
for the next three years, with 2025’s
event running from January 8th - 10th.
Sig Sauer to celebrate 40th anniversary of the P226 in 2024
Sig Sauer has commenced a yearlong 40th
Anniversary celebration of the iconic
P226 pistol.
“With a legacy of accuracy and
reliability, and millions upon millions of
rounds of proven performance, the P226
has earned its reputation as the premiere
service pistol, and is the standard by
which all other combat pistols are
measured,” began Tom Taylor, Chief
Marketing Officer and Executive Vice
President, Sig Sauer, inc. “To celebrate the
rich military and law enforcement history
of the P226, we will commemorate the
40th Anniversary with a special edition
pistol and release a historical video series
detailing the development and service of the P226. We will
also have an official declaration of February 26, 2024, as P226
Day, as well as programs and promotions throughout 2024.”
Sig Sauer developed the P226 to compete in the U.S.
Military’s XM9 service pistol trials. Even though it was not
ultimately selected, the performance
and capability of the P226 captured the
attention of the elite U.S. Navy SEALs.
They would officially adopt the P226
in 1989 to become the MK25, and it
would serve throughout the Global War
on Terrorism as their official service
pistol. The selection by the SEALs
marks the beginning of a rich history
between Sig Sauer and the U.S. military
and the P226 became the cornerstone
of several future successful partnerships
to include the M17, M18, and the Next
Generation Squad Weapons (NGSW)
program. Today, the legendary P226
has seen decades of refinements and is
highly regarded for its enduring quality, superior reliability
and accuracy amongst law enforcement professionals, military
units, collectors, and shooting enthusiasts.
iwa outdoorclassics 2024
iwa primed for
anniversary edition
For the 2024 version of IWA, the show has a new Exhibition Director, in the shape of
Stefanie Leege, Gun Trade World spoke with Stefanie on the eve of the show to find
out how she’s looking to make her mark on the 50th anniversary of the event.
Stefanie Leege has been the new exhibition director
for the IWA OutdoorClassics, the world’s leading
exhibition for the hunting and target sports industry,
since the beginning of 2024. Here, she provides insights
into her new sphere of responsibilities and what we can expect
from IWA OutdoorClassics moving forwards.
Stefanie, just in time for its 50th anniversary, you are taking
on the responsibility for one of the most important global
exhibitions in our sector. What do you think needs to happen
to ensure the lasting success of the event?
Stefanie Leege: Firstly, I am very pleased by the trust placed
in me in my new role. IWA OutdoorClassics is a highly
international trade fair steeped in tradition that emerged out
of the industry itself. Accordingly, we have an extremely loyal
exhibitor and visitor base which has exacting requirements.
Following the difficult years of the pandemic, our job now is
to respond very precisely and sensitively to the preferences and
concerns of our customers. I personally would like to make use
of the anniversary to listen. We want to understand even better
what’s happening on the market and what the issues of concern
are. This is the only way for my team and me to further develop
the IWA OutdoorClassics to make it more customer centric.
What strengths do you bring to your new role, and how
important are they in your new sphere of responsibilities?
IWA OutdoorClassics recently experienced what was a
challenging phase in its long history. We need to continue to
motivate the sector to use the IWA platform to form alliances
and opinions in personal exchanges, to be able to respond
together to market challenges. And I am very happy to be this
motivator, as a visible symbol of the role of the IWA in relation
to manufacturers and retailers. Thanks to my longstanding
close contact to our customers and the sector, I am aware of
its concerns and needs, and bring hands-on experience as
well as a strong, solution-driven approach. In future I would
like to leverage these contacts and my strengths to reinforce
the positioning of IWA OutdoorClassics and connect our
exhibitors, visitors and media representatives with one another
to the best possible extent. I have the clear vision that our
market will in future continue to build on these personal
relationships between industry and our specialised retailers, and
we will carry on promoting this with the IWA.
When it comes to the evolution of IWA OutdoorClassics, what
can the market look forward to under your leadership?
For many market players from all around the world, IWA is
the most important date in their calendar. Not just for sales,
but above all for market strategies and trend research, and
especially for strengthening networks. And this is precisely
where we want to start: In future, IWA OutdoorClassics should
offer even more opportunities for making personal contacts
efficiently. But naturally, we are also always going to continue
to optimize our second core activity, i.e., the presentation of
innovations and products and their live testing and handling.
In this context, our special shows and supporting programme
features for the forthcoming IWA OutdoorClassics 2024 are
just the beginning.
Legendary rifle manufacturer Barrett Firearms has recently
released its latest long-distance hero, in the shape of the
groundbreaking MRADELR. Here, Gun Trade World hears from
the key players behind the rifle and takes a deep dive into
Barrett’s ‘halo’ product that has been 20 years in the making.
Barrett MRADELR
The MRADELR is built
upon the success of
the Barrett Model 99
and MRAD / MK 22
platforms. It is one of
the only production rifles in the world
featuring user-changeable barrels, that
has also placed as a top finalist in the
KO2M competition (2nd in 2024).
The key differences between the
MRAD and this new MRADELR rifle
is simply that it expands the boltaction,
magazine-fed MRAD family
to include 416 Barrett with additional
large-calibre options to be available in
the future.
The user serviceable parts of the
MRADELR are very similar to the
MRAD rifle and include nearly
the entire rifle for those who have
armorer capabilities and proper tools.
Specifically the barrels and featuring
a tool-less quick-change firing pin
and bolt head, trigger, magazine,
bolt knobs, and the upper and lower
receivers.
The intended user is ultimately
the competitive ELR shooter,
offering an off-the-shelf solution
to the competitor. The rifle has also
performed against contract military
endurance and stress testing, to ensure
that this product can meet those needs
as well.
US dealers can order the
MRADELR from one of Barrett’s
seven distributors: Bill Hicks & Co.,
Davidson’s, Lipsey’s, MGE Wholesale,
RSR Group, Sports South, and
Zander’s.
The MRADELR will also be made
available to Barrett’s global distribution
network as well as to interested State
Department approved countries.
The complete MRADELR story…
Here, the key protagonists from behind
the scenes of the MRADELR concept
tell their story of how the MRADELR
went from idea to conception and all
the interesting details that are often
kept under wraps when a new product
is released. We hope you find this as
interesting as we did…
“This rifle
will become
a part of
Barrett’s
legacy.”
John Felice, Director of Engineering,
Barrett Firearms
I remember being approached by
management ownership, they mentioned
that they wanted to design and develop a
new product and it would be like a new
flagship, a ‘Halo product’ is the term they
used.
Chevrolet has their Corvette Z06, it’s
their flagship, Ferrari has the LaFerrari,
so we wanted to try to capture that with
our brand, as leaders in long range. We
wanted to reset the expectation from
customers when they buy an ELR rifle off
the shelf.
Nathan Lux, Director of Sales &
Marketing, Barrett Firearms
What’s interesting about this product is it
was in development when NIOA acquired
Barrett so Rob Nioa, the new owner, saw
the potential and allowed us to continue
through and develop the project, even
though it wasn’t actually ready to launch
when he purchased the company. There’s
a lot of overlap between Ronnie Barrett’s
perspective on how things should be
done and Rob Nioa’s perspective, they
share a lot of similarities.
We are sold out one and two years
into the future on every single product
we make, so to release something brandnew
is very difficult to work into the
production schedules.
Darik Bollig, Manager Design
Development, Barrett Firearms
So, one of the things we wanted to do
is have an ‘out-of-the-box’ rifle that you
could take factory ammo and go compete
at the King of 2 Miles and do very well
against other rifles that have had more
money spent on them due to their custom
builds.
Chris Vassar, Chief Design Engineer,
Barrett Firearms
It started with just kind of a blank
sheet of paper. We have a lot of design
specifications from the MRAD so we
used a lot of its characteristics and really
kind of just scaled up the MRAD.
A proud Barrett team
at last year’s King of 2
Miles competition.
Nathan Lux
“So what we did was essentially
merge the Model 99 and the MRAD
into a magazine fed, bolt action rifle
that was capable of firing .416
cartridge.
Darik Bollig
Ronnie Wright (Barrett test engineer)
and I used to travel around quite a
bit in 2017, ‘18 and ‘19, shooting a lot
of different matches together. We
talked to a lot of different military
operators, bullet manufacturers and
barrel manufactures and we got a lot of
input from them. When we got back to
the office, we’d sit around and
brainstorm together as a team and
figure out the pros and cons of each
feature that we wanted to add to the gun
that we thought would be beneficial to
the end shooter.
John Felice
We want to make sure that everything
that comes out of this factory the
customer gets the same result we did.
Nathan Lux
The sales team would come in and
we’d discuss the features that a customer
would desire most…
Darik Bollig
… and once we got all their
input we began to draft a
product brief that set the
requirements of what we
wanted to build.
John Felice
Then we took that back to leadership
and ownership and, once they signed off
on that, that’s what really gets the ball
rolling in the design team…
Nathan Lux
… at that point, what they do is start
to develop prototypes – whether it’s
creating parts from scratch or using
existing parts that we have.
Darik Bollig
We learned a lot of what needed to be
changed from our previous model, the
Model 99. That had been very successful
at the King of Two Mile but we realised
that it had some downfalls that needed
improvement. One was the speed and
operation of the bolt and a magazine fed
system.
Nathan Lux
For example, the MRADELR is using
the muzzle brake from a Model 99,
it’s the most efficient break we make
for that large calibre. We take some
pieces of existing items and build upon
that, so with the MRAD itself featuring
interchangeable calibres, being a mag-fed
bolt action rifle it’s widely successful
it’s just been adopted by SOCOM.
The MRADELR is also going to be
compatible with our QDL suppressor,
which requires the use of the QDL
suppressor brake. So the barrel itself can
accept either of those existing
products and, put simply, the
MRADELR adds the large calibre
capability to the MRAD platform.
Chris Vassar
We started with the breach, you know,
the locking components, and kind
of worked our way out from there.
Ronnie Barrett always said it has to
function well, be easy to manipulate and
ergonomically it has to be a nice-looking
rifle, so it would be a rifle that you’d like
to own yourself.
John Felice
Chris Vassar does all the heavy lifting
with design. He does all the tolerance
stack ups. He does interference checks.
He’s the one that really designed the
magazine.
Chris Vassar
I’ve always said the rifle is the easiest
part to design. Magazines are very tough
to design. The cartridge stack needs to
be at the right angle to be able to feed
into the breach and they have to hold
rounds, have to lift in the front and the
back at equal times. I’ve told people
before, I’d rather build three rifles than
one magazine!
A lot of other designed rifles use a
feed ramp either on the barrel extension,
or the back of the barrel itself, so we
tried to miss all those things. We went
directly to the chamber, so none of
the projectiles get scarred or damaged,
for ultimate accuracy. So, we develop
accuracy with getting the maximum
powder burn and that dictates our barrel
length that we design. We try to do as
much recall management as we can with
a muzzle brake on the end.
Nathan Lux
A user can change this barrel anytime
they please, so competitive shooters will
know when their barrels are starting to
go. You can compare it to a NASCAR
WWW.GUNTRADEWORLD.COM 37
I N D U S T R Y I N S I G H T
driver – they’re swapping tyres all the
time, they know when those tyres are no
good. Being able to swap that barrel out
is part of the element of success for this
product, being able to compete in that
arena.
Chris Vassar
The design part is easy, it’s then about
getting a working prototype and then
developing from there to see what you
need to fix, and then build a preproduction
run as part of the product
development process that we conduct
here at Barrett.
John Felice
We design and develop, build prototypes,
test it, well then what? Somebody has to
lead the charge to get it productionised…
Ryan Johnson, Program Manager,
Barrett Firearms
The first thing I was told was, “Hey, we
need to get this thing launched ASAP.”
I was super pumped!
Darik Bollig
We had a very tight timeline on this
project and Ryan kept things rolling
and made sure everybody was doing
their jobs, working with the vendors,
getting different pieces of the puzzle
coming in that are made out of house…
Chris Vassar
…and so we had to create CNC
programs and create inspection for
quality and to make sure we’re getting a
good part.
Ryan Johnson
To take something that the design team
has created and put it on paper or CAD
model and to get it to a production
level, there’s a lot of things that we go
through.
We bring parts in from suppliers,
we’re machining parts on the floor –
qualities, measuring, we’re doing all of
our checks and balances and it’s a lot.
People don’t realise how many people are
involved and what it takes to put a part
into production.
John Felice
When the sales department needs
information or marketing, everything
funnels through Ryan Johnson at that
point.
We already have our plate full with
current production with the Mark
22 and all the big guns and then to
introduce a new rifle, with the same
amount of people and the same shop
floor space, it has been challenging.
Nathan Lux
So, freeing up those resources, finding
ways to produce more without cutting a
single corner requires support from the
top down to the very bottom. Every single
person in the company has to be on board
with this, has to work together to actually
make it happen.
Jay McClean, Associate Engineer, Barrett
Firearms
Fast forward and we’ve hit a few iterations
of this product and that’s when I stepped
in and started helping the test engineer,
Ronnie Wright.
A lot of people around the industry
know who he is and ELR shooters,
so he’s been with us for several years
as a test engineer. He and I actually
performed a lot of the initial testing
during development, including disruptive
tests, drop tests, environmental tests, live
fire endurance tests, just to prove that our
design was sound.
John Felice
Jay has been one of the key components
to this project and this adventure we have
set out on.
38 WWW.GUNTRADEWORLD.COM
I N A S S O C I A T I O N W I T H
Jay McClean
I work on handling the ammunition
procurement and also loading ammunition
for us to consume here at the factory.
Darik Bollig
If you don’t have ammunition that is precise,
you can’t test exactly what your product can
do and Jay has worked up some beautiful
handloads that just shoot amazingly and
we had been testing out to a mile at Buffalo
Ridge. Jay himself shot a five-shot group at
one mile that measured less than six inches.
Jay McClean
I want this to be a gun that people want
to shoot a lot, that’s ergonomic, that’s
balanced. How easy this rifle is to shoot all
adds up to consistency of velocity – it has
to be the same velocity every time you pull
the trigger. If not, you’re going to get high
and lows on the target.
Nathan Lux
Everyone here at Barrett plays a role in
product development, whether it’s the
people in the test range, the people in
shipping and receiving, the inventory
people… we are all exposed to the level of quality of this
highproduct.
Darik Bollig
I don’t think the rifle is actually ever done,
we’re always trying to improve on what
we’ve got. That’s the tough part of being
an engineer, it’s never done but sooner
or later you have to stop and release a
product.
“This product is going to be the
halo product for Barrett Firearms.”
John Felice
Believing that we’re setting new
benchmarks, we thought ‘what better way
to show it than to take it to the King
of 2 Mile?’. This is not only a shooting
event, but it’s also learning how to call the
wind. The rifle itself, I mean we went out
and just torture tested it doing all kinds
of things that might happen at a match.
Whether it’s shooting in bad conditions
or dirty conditions, shooting fast because
it is magazine fed, so we want to shoot as
fast as we can without the wind conditions
changing.
Nathan Lux
There were details like figuring out exactly
what shooters were going to be available,
all the right products being in their hands
to ensure that they’re comfortable with it
and testing it in advance.
placed second at the global 2023 King
of 2 Miles competition, held at the NRA
Whittington Center on September 22-24, 2023.
Alex Cordesman, KO2M Technical
Director
The people that come to shoot here
(King of 2 Mile), routinely shoot
several other matches a year and they
tend to do very well. Justin Wolf won
last year, he’s back again to try to go
for a second crown. We got pilot guys
from Barrett, some of whom have done
extremely well in the past and Wolf is
shooting for them – I can’t wait to see
how he does.
John Felice
There are rules about overall weight,
the rifle has to be less than 40lbs. I
would say in the ELR game this rifle, if
anything, comes in far under the 40lbs.
We were also thinking of our military
customers and they don’t want to carry
around 40lb rifles if they don’t have to,
but we know that ELR shooters can
add the weight if they want it.
Ronnie Wright
It does validate to the military that this
gun is capable of competing with these
custom-built rifles and we have done
enough testing on this to meet all the
military specifications before we came
out here.
Darik Bollig
At the event we get together and you
get to talk about ballistics and shooting
targets and guns and ammunition – it’s
a lot of fun, it’s banging targets and
hitting steel.
Jay McClean
I feel like we did accomplish our goal
as a company. As a team we had three
shooters make it to the finale.
Darik Bollig
It’s just an amazing event and getting
to see a rifle that I helped work on, and
see all the work that the team put into
it come together – and that it actually
performed as expected, with Justin and
James as a spotter. It just performed so
well, it’s very exciting and we’re all very
happy at Barrett.
Justin Wolf, 2nd place King of 2 miles
It’s a rifle that somebody is going to
be able to buy, it’s fantastic, it does
everything we need it to do. I shoot fast
anyway and the mag feeding just adds
to it.
Chris Vassar
I was ecstatic, we had a lot of great
teams out there that shot, I thought we
impressed ourselves.
Jay McClean
Everybody knows who makes a Corvette
and I feel like the MRADELR is our
Corvette.
Ryan Johnson
Yeah it feels great to have created a rifle,
a production rifle at this level, you know
and we’re making them right here in
Murfreesboro,Tennessee, it’s pretty cool!
Nathan Lux
I think one of my favourite parts about
this project is that we’ve highlighted
the engineering and the product
development team. Those are usually
the guys you actually lock into a
development room and keep people
away from, so they can be creative and
really flex that muscle of designing and
building the world’s best rifles. I would
say every single employee here is part of
the success of that product.
Chris Vassar
The future of this rifle is to get it out
there and get it in the users’ hands and
just dominate competitions and have
end users that could possibly end up in
the Military ranks.
Nathan Lux
There are actually users already fielding
these rifles in a military capacity and for
us, that is a testament of its excellence
before it’s even launched.
Jay McClean
I think that’s going to really encourage
people to keep pushing their boundaries
and pushing their skills and get better
and I think that’s what this rifle is – it
can do everything that you can throw
at it.
Darik Bollig
You can literally buy a rifle out the box,
buy some ammunition off the shelf and
go have a great time out on the range
and shoot out to two miles.
John Felice
It’s got to set some new benchmarks for
the industry, for the category, for the
world. GTW
GREAT GEAR
MERINO MAGIC OR
SYNTHETIC SUPREMACY?
Stay warm and dry during the hunt
Understanding the importance of the right gear is paramount to a successful
and comfortable hunting experience. For these purposes, materials like
merino wool are getting more and more popular. Which is why this month we
delve deeper into the world of hunting apparel – focusing on merino wool –
and compare it with traditional cotton and modern synthetic alternatives.
42 WWW.GUNTRADEWORLD.COM
Understanding Merino Wool
Merino wool, sourced from the merino
breed of sheep, is renowned for its fine
fibres, making it one of the softest wool
types available. This natural material
offers several benefits for hunters and
outdoorspeople alike: Temperature
regulation for starters. Merino wool
is exceptional at regulating body
temperature. Its natural crimp helps trap
body heat in cooler conditions while its
breathability aids in releasing heat in
warmer weather. Moisture management
is a second advantage. Unlike cotton,
merino wool can absorb moisture (up to
30 per cent of its weight) without feeling
wet. This makes it a great option for
hunters who might be exposed to damp
conditions or hunters who are moving
about a lot such as stalkers, mountain
hunters etc. Then there’s odour resistance.
Merino wool has natural antimicrobial
properties, making it resistant to odours
– a crucial factor for hunters who need to
remain scent-free to avoid alerting their
prey. Finally, merino is comfortable and
durable. The fine fibres of merino wool
ensure it doesn’t itch like the traditional
wool we all know. It also has natural
elasticity, which helps garments maintain
their original shape and last longer,
adding to their durability. However,
merino wool is not without its drawbacks.
It tends to be more expensive than cotton
or most synthetics, and while durable, it
may not withstand heavy abrasion as well
as some synthetic fabrics. Additionally,
care must be taken when washing merino
wool to avoid shrinking or damage.
Cotton: The Traditional Choice
Cotton has been a staple in outdoor
apparel for generations, but when it
comes to active hunting and outdoor
pursuits, it has significant drawbacks. The
moisture absorption of cotton is far from
ideal from a user’s point of view. Cotton
can absorb a significant amount of water.
This means it gets heavy and stays wet
long, making it unsuitable for damp
conditions. Once you’re wet, you get cold.
And that’s exactly what we want to avoid.
Regarding temperature regulation, cotton
has another drawback. Once wet, cotton
loses its insulating properties, which can
lead to a rapid loss of body heat in cold
environments – a phenomenon known as
‘cotton chill’. Also, while cotton is durable
and easy to care for, it doesn’t offer the
same odour resistance or moisturewicking
properties as merino wool.
Synthetic Fabrics: The Modern
Alternative
Synthetic materials, such as polyester and
nylon, are engineered to offer specific
advantages. In terms of moisture-wicking,
synthetics excel at moving sweat away
from the body, keeping the hunter dry
and comfortable. They are also dry much
faster than cotton, which can be crucial
in wet conditions. In the durability
department, synthetics also have
significant advantages. Synthetic fibres
are incredibly strong and resist abrasion
and tearing, making them suitable for
rugged terrains and dense undergrowth.
However, and this is a big drawback,
synthetics tend to retain odours unless
treated with antimicrobial agents. They
are also not as effective as merino wool
in temperature regulation and can be less
comfortable against the skin in extreme
temperatures.
So how do this add up?
When it comes to selecting the right
clothing for hunting, the decision
between merino wool, cotton, and
synthetic fabrics hinges on the specific
needs and conditions a hunter anticipates
encountering. For those venturing out
in cold and variable weather, merino
wool stands out as the superior choice.
Its unparalleled ability to regulate
temperature and manage moisture keeps
hunters warm and dry, adapting to
changes in both activity level and external
conditions. The unique properties of
merino wool fibres allow for effective
insulation in colder climates while still
offering breathability when the situation
heats up. In contrast, when dealing with
wet conditions, synthetic materials take
the lead. Their quick-drying properties
are a significant advantage, minimising
discomfort and potential risks associated
with being damp in the wilderness. This
makes synthetics particularly suitable
for hunts where exposure to water is
expected, whether from the environment
or strenuous activity. However, in
warmer weather, the choice becomes
more nuanced. While lightweight
and breathable synthetics are often a
go-to due to their moisture-wicking
capabilities, thin layers of merino wool
shouldn’t be overlooked. Merino’s natural
odour control properties are a boon for
hunters, helping to mask human scent
from wildlife. This can be especially useful
in warmer conditions when sweating
might otherwise give a hunter away.
Budget considerations also play a
crucial role in this decision-making
process. Cotton, while being the most
affordable option, comes with notable
performance limitations in a hunting
context. Its tendency to absorb and retain
moisture, coupled with poor insulation
when wet, makes it a less desirable
choice for serious hunters who prioritise
functionality and comfort.
Environmental considerations
The environmental impact of these
materials is another critical factor.
Merino wool is a sustainable and
renewable fibre, making it an eco-friendly
choice. It aligns with the ethos of many
in the hunting community who value
natural resources and conservation. On
the other hand, synthetics, primarily
derived from petroleum, have a larger
environmental footprint. However, it’s
worth noting that advancements in
recycling technologies are helping to
mitigate this impact, making synthetic
fabrics a more sustainable option than
they once were.
To conclude
While merino wool offers unparalleled
advantages in terms of comfort,
temperature regulation, and odour
control, it comes at a higher price.
Synthetic materials offer durability and
quick-drying properties, making them
suitable for a variety of conditions,
especially wet environments. Cotton,
while affordable and traditional, falls
short in performance compared to
its counterparts. The choice between
merino wool, cotton, and synthetic
materials ultimately depends on
the specific needs of the hunter, the
environmental conditions they will face,
and personal preferences in comfort
and budget. By weighing these factors,
hunters can make an informed decision
for their apparel, ensuring comfort,
stealth, and success in their hunting
endeavours. GTW
A BLEND OF
TRADITION,
INNOVATION &
SUSTAINABILITY
The evolution of apparel in
hunting and shooting
The world of hunting and shooting is as diverse as it is traditional, and the apparel that
accompanies these activities is a testament to this rich diversity. From the silent forests where
hunters camouflage themselves to the open ranges frequented by clay shooters, the right
apparel is as crucial as any piece of equipment. This month’s Spotlight feature explores the
intricate world of hunting and shooting apparel, diving into the materials, designs, and the
increasingly significant role of sustainability in the sector.
eXposeD to the eleMents
Historically, hunters and shooters have
relied on materials directly sourced
from nature. Wool, valued for its
insulation properties, has been a staple
for generations. It’s not just any wool,
but specific blends like merino, known
for its finer fibres, which provide
better insulation and moisture-wicking
properties.
Cotton, while less popular in extreme
conditions due to its moisture retention,
is favoured in milder climates for its
comfort and breathability. Leather
remains unrivalled for durability,
especially in footwear and gloves,
offering protection and longevity.
The introduction of synthetic
fabrics marked a revolution in outdoor
apparel. Polyester and nylon, with their
lightweight and quick-drying properties,
have become the backbone of modern
hunting gear. These materials are not
only resistant to water and wear but
also offer flexibility in design, allowing
for a range of motion that traditional
materials can’t match. The adaptability
of synthetics has led to innovations
like moisture-wicking undergarments,
lightweight insulating layers, and
protective outer shells.
The pinnacle of modern fabric
technology is represented by waterproof,
breathable membranes. These advanced
fabrics are engineered to provide
maximum protection from the elements
while maintaining breathability. They
feature micro-porous structures that
block water from entering but allow
sweat vapor to escape, keeping the
wearer dry and comfortable. This
technology has been a game-changer,
especially for hunters and shooters who
endure long hours in unpredictable
weather.
Applications of Different
Apparel Types
Choosing the right apparel is a strategic
decision, influenced by environmental
conditions, activity type, and personal
preference. In the high-altitude
terrains where cold and wind prevail,
insulated jackets and pants, often
with a synthetic fill, are indispensable.
For wet conditions, waterproof yet
breathable outer layers are a must to
prevent moisture penetration while
allowing sweat to escape. In contrast,
hunting in warmer climates or during
strenuous activities like tracking game
on foot demands lightweight, breathable
clothing. Here, synthetics excel,
offering protection from vegetation
and the sun while keeping the hunter
cool. Camouflage plays a vital role too;
various patterns are designed to blend
with different environments, from dense
forests to arid landscapes. For shooting
sports, where agility and precision are
paramount, apparel must offer freedom
of movement. Reinforced elbows and
shoulders, breathable mesh panels, and
adjustable cuffs are common features
that cater to the specific needs of
shooters.
Layering Up
A trend that won’t go away anytime
soon is that of layer system. By building
your hunting apparel out of different
layers you’ll always have the right
outfit for the challenges at hand. The
foundation of comfort in any outdoor
activity, the base layer’s primary role
is moisture management. Options vary
widely, from natural fibres like silk and
merino wool, which offer warmth and
odour resistance, to synthetic blends
that excel in moisture wicking and
quick drying. The fit is crucial – it
should be snug but not restrictive,
allowing for full range of motion.
Serving as the primary insulator, the
mid-layer traps body heat. Fleece
is a popular choice here, providing
warmth without the bulk. For more
extreme conditions, down or synthetic
insulated jackets offer higher warmthto-weight
ratios. These layers often
incorporate features like zippered vents
or moisture-wicking linings to balance
insulation and breathability. The outer
layer meanwhile is the protective
shield against rain, wind, and snow.
Technical materials that are breathable
yet waterproof dominate this layer, but
there are also options like softshell
fabrics that offer more flexibility
with less rustling noise – a critical
consideration for hunters. Features
like taped seams, adjustable hoods, and
ample pockets add functionality to the
outer layer.
Sustainability in the Apparel
Industry
The apparel industry’s impact on
the environment is significant, and
the hunting and shooting sectors
are not exempt. The challenge lies
in creating products that are durable
and functional while minimising
environmental footprints. Leading
brands are pioneering the use of recycled
materials, from PET bottles turned into
polyester fibres to recycled down fill.
Water conservation is another focus,
with manufacturers adopting dyeing
and finishing processes that require
less water and energy. The durability
of products is another key aspect of
sustainability. Products designed to
last longer reduce the frequency of
replacement, thereby lessening the
overall consumption of resources.
Additionally, many companies in
the broader outdoor industry are
embracing repair and recycle programs,
encouraging customers to return used
gear for refurbishment or recycling,
thus extending the life cycle of the
apparel and reducing waste. Innovation
is also playing a crucial role. Research
into new, eco-friendly materials and
manufacturing processes is ongoing.
Some brands are experimenting with
biodegradable fabrics and non-toxic
dyes, pushing the boundaries of what’s
possible in eco-conscious apparel design.
Moreover, the hunting and shooting
community is increasingly aware of the
environmental footprint of their gear.
This awareness is driving demand for
products that are not only effective in
the field but also responsibly produced.
Brands are responding with transparent
supply chains, ethical sourcing practices,
and commitments to environmental
stewardship.
To Conclude
The hunting and shooting apparel
industry is at a crossroads of tradition
and innovation, where the melding of
old and new brings forth gear that is
not only functional and comfortable
but also increasingly mindful of its
environmental impact. The choice of
apparel, from the steadfast wool and
leather of yesteryear to the advanced
synthetics and membranes of today,
reflects a deep understanding of the
diverse needs of hunters and shooters.
The layering system – consisting of the
moisture-managing base, the insulating
mid, and the protective outer layer –
exemplifies the sophistication in modern
outdoor gear design. Sustainability, once
a peripheral concern, has now taken
centre stage, driving manufacturers to
rethink materials, processes, and the
entire lifecycle of their products. This
shift is not just a response to consumer
demand but a responsible recognition
of the industry’s role in preserving the
natural environments that hunters and
shooters cherish.
As we look to the future, the blend
of functionality, innovation, and
sustainability will continue to define
the hunting and shooting apparel
industry. This evolution is not merely
about keeping up with trends but about
respecting the heritage of the sports,
the needs of the enthusiast, and the
health of our planet. For enthusiasts and
professionals alike, the right apparel is
a critical component of their pursuit – a
fusion of comfort, performance, and
responsibility. GTW
CALIFORNIA GOV. NEWSOM
REVEALS SHAMEFUL
POLITICAL CALCULATIONS
IN GREAT DEBATE
By Larry Keane
The Great Red State vs Blue State debate between California Democratic Gov.
Gavin Newsom and Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis included a short
back-and-forth on rising criminal violence. That, of course, gave the California
gun control chief cheerleader the opening he needed to make cheap political attacks
and continue to push for more restrictive firearm laws, even though his state
already has nearly every gun control law on the books.
52 WWW.GUNTRADEWORLD.COM
It was a glaring, but
unsurprising, reminder
that Gov. Newsom
isn’t interested in
reducing criminal gun
misuse or crimes. He’s all
about appeasing gun control
activists and the donor class
that will help propel him to
a presidential run of his own
someday, and maybe as soon
as next year.
Crime Exodus
The launching point for
Gov. Newsom’s tirade on gun
control was his attempts at
attacking Gov. DeSantis over
rising crime – unironically
the main driver for why more
law-abiding Californians
have been purchasing
firearms over the past few
years.
Showing a graphic
containing FBI data on
violent crime rates in
California, Florida and the
national average, debate
moderator Sean Hannity
pressed Gov. Newsom about
his state’s high numbers.
“Governor Newsom, your
numbers are way higher than
the national average. How do
you explain that when safety
and security, I would argue,
is a prerequisite for the
pursuit of happiness?” asked
Hannity.
The governor tried to
mark “progress” by bringing
up the 1990s. “We’re near
50-year lows, down 55 per
cent violent crimes in the
state of California from
the 1990s,” Gov. Newsom
responded. “And I want to
compare and contrast that
with the issue in Florida
that you didn’t mention, and
that’s the murder rate. Let’s
broaden that more broadly–”
Hannity interjected to
remind everyone the FBI
data included the murder
rates. Gov. DeSantis jumped
in with his own response.
“So this is the slick
politician – you put up
the rates. He has 500 per
100,000. Florida is 250.
So that’s almost twice as
much, and he’s trying to
spin that to say California’s
doing good? People are
leaving California in droves,
largely because public safety
has collapsed,” said Gov.
DeSantis.
Gov. Newsom could not
offer any good reason why
750,000 people have left his
state in the past two years,
while over the same stretch,
more than 454,000 people
have moved into Florida.
More Gun Control
Always ready to chest-thump
over his state’s extreme gun
control laws as a national
framework for success, Gov.
Newsom attacked Gov.
DeSantis for not enacting
unconstitutional gun control
measures and was sloppy
with the facts in doing so.
“You had one of the worst
mass shootings in American
history, Parkland… You
had a young girl, Jaime
Guttenberg, whose father
pleaded with you to do
something… You know
what you did, you did the
opposite – you made it easier
for felons to get guns,” Gov.
Newsom proclaimed.
The Parkland murders
were in fact committed by a
deranged criminal in 2017.
The governor was at that
time a Member of Congress,
years before he was elected
governor. The Constitutional
Carry bill he did sign into
law earlier this year did not
make it “easier for felons to
get guns,” as the California
governor falsely asserted.
As Gov. DeSantis pointed
out, it is illegal for anyone
convicted of a felony to
purchase or possess a firearm
and that remains so in
Florida today.
Instead of passing even
more gun control laws that
criminals will continue
ignoring and that only
penalise law-abiding citizens,
Gov. Newsom should spend
more time and effort getting
tough on the criminals that
do break the law. As he has
failed to take any meaningful
action to ensure his cities
are safer, voters have been
left to take action into
their own hands. They did
so in San Francisco after
giving Geroge Soros-funded
District Attorney Chesa
Boudin the boot.
In contrast, Gov. DeSantis
has a record of taking
action against such softon-crime
prosecutors that
leave communities in danger.
During the first Republican
primary presidential debate
this year, he reminded voters
of his actions.
“These hollowed-out
cities, this is a symptom
of America’s decline. And
one of the biggest reasons
is because you have George
Soros funding these radical
Left-wing district attorneys
that get into office and
they say they’re not going
to prosecute crimes they
disagree with,” he said.
“When we had two of these
district attorneys in Florida,
elected with Soros funding
who said they wouldn’t do
their job, I removed them
from their post. They are
gone.”
Support From Florida
When the California
governor brought up Fred
Guttenberg for his gun
control advocacy, it was a
political decision by Gov.
Newsom to ignore any other
relevant voices from that
tragedy. That didn’t stop
Ryan Petty and Andrew
Pollack from giving the
governor a piece of their
mind.
Ryan Petty’s daughter
Alaina was also murdered in
the Parkland tragedy. As was
Andrew Pollack’s daughter,
Meadow.
In response to the false
accusations Gov. Newsom
lobbed at Gov. DeSantis,
Petty posted on social media
in real-time. “This is a lie.
Gavin knew it was a lie when
he said it @RonDeSantis had
worked closely with Parkland
families to make Florida
schools safer,” Petty posted.
“How dare you use the
Parkland tragedy to further
your political agenda. You are
a political pariah. The shame
is yours @GavinNewsom.”
Pollack did not hold
back, either. “My daughter
died in the Parkland mass
shooting. Ron DeSantis
was not even Governor
when it happened, but I’m
sure as hell glad he became
Governor shortly after,” he
said. “Governor DeSantis
fired the incompetent
people responsible, he didn’t
demonise lawful gun owners.
Newsom is trash!”
Gov. DeSantis won
re-election in 2022 in a
landslide, five years after
the Parkland tragedy and
proclaiming that passing
Constitutional Carry was
a priority for his second
term. Florida voters
overwhelmingly made their
preferred choice.
rifle
The f irst CZ f irearm with a
carbon f ibre wrapped barrel
The CZ 457 CARBON is an
extremely lightweight rimfire
rifle that opens up a new
dimension in shooting. It is
the ideal firearm for extended
stays in the countryside, as
well as for sport or recreational
shooting.
A new, key feature of this
addition to the popular CZ
457 family of bolt-action rifles
is an innovative composite
barrel, which combines the
best characteristics of steel
and carbon fibre, and provides
many unique advantages.
The most important
advantages of the steelcarbon
barrel include a radical
reduction in weight, efficient
heat dissipation during
extended firing sessions and
reduced vibrations after each
shot. The steel core of the
barrel is cold hammer forged
and equipped with a MATCH.
As a result, the 22 LR CZ
457 CARBON weighs only
2.15 kg, making it the lightest
model in the CZ 457 rimfire
rifle series, while still providing
the same impressive accuracy
as varmint models!
CZ 600 AMERICAN
Guaranteed sub-MOA accuracy
The CZ 600 AMERICAN
is a modern, Americanstyle
bolt-action centrefire
rifle that’s equipped with a
beautifully crafted Turkish
walnut stock with a fleur-delis
on the grip. Available in a
wide range of calibres, from
223 Rem. to 300 Win. Mag.,
it is ready to meet the needs
The CZ 600 AMERICAN
centrefire rifle is equipped
with a thin profile, cold
hammer forged barrel without
iron sights, which comes
in lengths 18 to 24 inches
(457-610mm) long, depending
on the calibre. The singlestage
trigger features smooth
operation and easy user
adjustment of pull weight. A
locking five-round magazine
allows for quick changeovers
from fixed to removable
operation and vice versa.
Like most centrefire rifles
in the CZ 600 series, the CZ
600 AMERICAN features
a patented vertical safety
with intuitive, and virtually
noiseless, operation. The bolt
can be removed by pressing
a spring-loaded button on
the right side of the receiver
without having to disengage
the safety and manipulate the
trigger. The controlled feed
system with short extractor
ensures reliable delivery of
cartridges in any position,
even during rapid reloads.
The new CZ 600
AMERICAN centrefire rifle
is the latest addition to the
popular CZ 600 family, which
includes the hunting, sport
and hobby models – ALPHA,
ERGO, LUX, RANGE and
TRAIL.
CZ SCORPION EVO 3
The same ergonomics and
placement of controls as the CZ
SCORPION EVO 3 S1
A new model is added to
the CZ SCORPION EVO
3 Pistol Calibre Carbine
series with the introduction
of the extremely compact
CZ SCORPION EVO 3 S2
MICRO chambered in the
proven 9 × 19 calibre.
A direct descendant of the
highly successful sub gun of
the same name, the semiautomatic
CZ SCORPION
EVO 3 series has been on
the market since 2011. CZ
has gradually added various
models to the range over the
years, which were a direct
result of customer demand
and the wealth of experience
gained from its extensive use
around the world.
One direction in the
expansion of the range
was extension of the barrel
and forend for CARBINE
models. The other was
minimisation of dimensions,
while maintaining comfort,
safe handling, high
performance and accuracy
as much as possible. It is
this direction where the new
CZ SCORPION EVO 3 S2
MICRO excels.
CZ 600 AMERICAN
Its main feature is a
140mm (5.5in) barrel fitted
with a spiral three-arm flash
hider. By comparison, the
barrel on a CZ SHADOW
2 pistol is 120mm. Despite
having a much shorter length
than barrels on other CZ
SCORPION EVO 3 models,
users of the CZ SCORPION
EVO 3 S2 MICRO are still
able to take full advantage of
the performance and accuracy
provided by the proven 9 × 19
cartridge. The new flash hider,
whose design is based on the
flash hider fitted on the CZ
BREN 2 rifle, contributes to
enhanced shooting comfort.
The CZ SCORPION EVO
3 S2 MICRO is equipped with
a short forend made of highly
durable aluminium alloy, with
a generous amount of M-LOK
mounting interfaces. For a
secure and reliable grip, the
firearm comes with a hand
guard on the lower section of
the forend. As with all models
in the CZ SCORPION EVO
3 series, a long Picatinny
rail, primarily designed for
mounting optics, comes
standard on this ultra-compact
model.
The new CZ SCORPION
EVO 3 S2 MICRO is
available in two versions:
one with a folding/telescopic
shoulder stock with a QD
socket for attaching a quickrelease
loop, and the other
featuring an upper receiver
extension with a sling loop.
BEHIND
THE
SCENES OF
ACHIEVING
EUROPEAN
QUALITY
See Pulsar on stand #4A-100
There are few thermal optics manufacturers who can proudly carry the Made in
Europe flag. Pulsar, a brand whose thermal, night vision, and multispectral devices are
produced in Lithuania, Latvia and Scotland, covers the entire manufacturing process:
from initial design idea to producing and programming electronic parts and testing
the devices before they are delivered to their worldwide users. In the build-up to
IWA OutdoorClassics 2024, Gun Trade World takes a look behind the scenes of where
modern technology is born.
The pioneers of
innovation, it’s fair
to consider Pulsar
as one of the most
established and
prestigious thermal optics
brands in the world today.
Even in this highly
competitive segment the
brand succeeds in staying at
the forefront of the industry,
like presenting its first HD
quality thermal sensor in
the shape of Merger LRF
XL50 binoculars, spreading
multispectral magic through
the lenses of Thermion
Duo DXP50 riflescope, or
stepping out with the first
ever upgradeable monocular
concept, named Telos.
From idea to final product
Telos is a great example of
how true European quality
is achieved by the combined
effort of the many professionals
who laid their hands on this
exceptional device.
The optical components,
metal, and plastic parts of
thermal monoculars are
manufactured by modern
machines in Pulsar’s European
factories and then assembled
by the hands of engineers in
Lithuania until all the parts
fit together and form the
final product. The brand even
produces its own batteries to
ensure their efficiency and
safety.
It’s not only the hardware
that Pulsar develops to be able
to guarantee optimisation and
essential quality of its devices,
but also the firmware.
Solid partnership goals
Besides manufacturing the
essential components itself,
Pulsar has long-time bonds
with some solid partners
providing them with the
highest quality components.
Like Lynred, a France based
manufacturer and a European
leader of thermal imaging
sensors.
Or well-known Japanese
brand Sony providing Pulsar
with high-quality electronic
components, and LightPath,
a global leader in optics and
photonic solutions, just to
name a few.
Tested and proven quality
After the device is assembled,
it then needs to pass several
quality tests, like being put
into a sub-zero freezer which
simulates drastic temperature
changes to see how well the
unit would cope with it.
The shock-inducing machine
is used to simulate the recoil of
a high-powered rifle and proves
the high-recoil resistance of
Pulsar riflescopes.
All the products undergo
special testing against water
and moisture and have an IPX7
rating, which indicates that
the device can be submerged
56 www.guntradeworld.com
in water up to one metre deep
for 30 minutes without any
damage.
Good design is ergonomic
Pulsar devices are widely
known for their advanced
technologies. At the same time,
a large part of their reputation
is associated with original,
functional design. External
shape, location of the controls,
the materials used – every
detail is carefully thought
out, verified, and designed
considering the user experience.
Sergey Gurynovich, Pulsar
lead product designer, says
good design is first and
foremost ergonomic. It’s never
about making an exceptionally
beautiful picture. “Devices are
purchased in order to use them
and therefore it is important
that they are comfortable,”
notes the designer. “They
should be comfortable to hold
in your hands, press buttons
freely, easily change focus,
remove the lens cap, etc.”
The designer emphasises the
importance of creating unique
devices, not like any others.
“This is not only a matter of
honour, but also an important
component of creativity,” he
adds. “Companies that ignore
uniqueness, explaining it a
‘style’, often hide behind the
lack of imagination.”
The most sensitive
monocular so far
When asked about the new
Telos line, Sergey Gurynovich
says he was willing to create
a new thermal imaging
monocular with soft lines, so
that its concentric shape would
clearly and organically fit with
several lenses and a rangefinder.
There should not have been
any fractures in this design
principle.
This was a very difficult task,
since at first the layout of the
internal component did not
allow it. Pulsar designers were
working on this new device
concept together with the
late founder and CEO of the
company Alexander Olshevsky.
The scheme was redone several
times until a convenient and
harmonious version was finally
obtained.
The result is an ambidextrous
thermal monocular that
comfortably fits into your hand,
is time resistant and equipped
with the best of what thermal
technology has to offer. Just
launched last year the first two
versions, Telos LRF XP50 and
Telos XP50, are notable for
their European-made sensors
with truly incredible thermal
sensitivity and NETD below
18mK. These premium devices
are more sensitive than any
other monocular in the range.
Tested by real hunters
Talking about the real user
experience and their needs,
Pulsar carefully studies the
reviews and opinions of
professional hunters to take
them into account while
creating new modifications of
the devices.
That’s one of the reasons
why the brand is building a
strong community of brand
ambassadors, all of them
being advocates for ethical
and responsible hunting. Their
task is far more than creating
engaging content. First and
foremost, it’s about testing
new devices in real hunting
conditions and then sharing
ideas on how to improve
them.
Stefan Orman, a Swedish
hunter who has already had a
chance to try out the power
of the Telos LRF XP50, was
pleasantly surprised by its
quality and comfort of use:
“Telos is 100 per cent for
stalk hunting or a hunter on
the move. This unit being
a monocular with an LRF
gives me agility and range,
and the insane NETD value
provides me with excellent,
unrivalled awareness of the
surrounding.”
Phil Taylor, his counterpart
from the UK, notes that Telos
LRF XP50 really shines in
poor weather conditions.
While Night Vision Viking,
a hunter and equipment
tester from Sweden adds
this: “The image quality and
detail are astonishing. There’s
a ‘crispness’ and detail in the
image I’ve never seen in a
thermal device before.”
Moving towards longlasting
devices
With the Telos line, Pulsar
aims to cover various hunters’
needs. Therefore, this year
a few new more affordable
models have been introduced.
The Telos LRF XG50 and the
compact Telos LRF XQ35
both come with and without
the LRF. All new devices have
their own specs, sizes, and
power differences, but what
unites them all is the concept
of upgradeability.
Telos becomes the first
Pulsar device to offer an
opportunity for technical
hardware upgrade. As well as
the first brand on the
market to introduce such
a service.
Sergejus Kochanenko,
the lead of the Telos
upgradeability project,
says that the concept
of upgradeability stems
from the understanding
the need to
move towards more
sustainable processes:
“Thanks to the
upgradeability, we
FALCO HOLSTERS
FALCO HOLSTERS:
THE CROSSROAD
OF SLOVAKIAN CULTURE AND
WORLD-CLASS HOLSTERS
There’s gold in those… Slovakian hills! Deep in the heart of Slovakia, nestled in an ancient
caldera, lies the quaint, peaceful, incredibly picturesque mining town of Banská Štiavnica;
however, not everything that glitters there is gold – world renowned Falco Holsters also
shines brightly.
With roots clear back to 300BC
and scores of settlements in
the area between then and the
early 13th century, Banská
Štiavnica later claimed top spot as a Royal
city early in the 1200s and was the epicentre
of the Kingdom of Hungary’s mining
efforts for centuries. Mining for gold, silver,
ore and other elements became even more
concentrated between the 17th and 19th
centuries, and the town was among the first
to employ dynamite in the mid-1800s.
Of course, Banská Štiavnica is known for
much more than mining. Ranked among
Europe’s best-preserved medieval towns,
it remains one of the richest in terms of
old-world artisanry and craftsmanship –
something I witnessed first-hand during
a week-long visit with Falco Holsters. Of
course, as a world-class holster manufacturer,
it was doubly interesting to witness the
company’s intersecting production approach
– a crossroad of old-world legacy and hightech
innovation.
Like many elite producers more concerned
with devil-in-the-details quality and
performance than mass throughput, the
measuring-feedback comes internally as
virtually non-existent rework, and externally,
in reputation and global growth. There’s
no debating Falco’s industry and consumer
reputation. The company is squarely
perched among the world’s most respected
holster manufacturing brands. Not only do
customers appreciate Falco’s richly accented
heirloom-quality leather holsters, they also
are fans of the company’s growing product
families and offerings – Kydex, fabric and
hybrid holsters of all types for countless
models of firearms, as well as cases, bags,
belts and more! Even better, Falco products
are quite affordably priced comparably to
similar mass-produced holsters, bags and
accessories. Of course, this is a driving force
behind Falco-customer smiles worldwide.
From advanced, optimising leather and
fabric cutting tables to the mix of technology
and physical labour of sewing machines, and
on to the labour-of-love hands-only efforts
of Falco’s artisans, the employees cared,
their passion and attitudes front and centre
whether they knew CEO Robert Kováč,
or company guests were present or not. It
wasn’t a show, this was daily life in the proud
ranks of Falco employees. They represent
Slovakian culture, craftsmanship, artisanship
and, overwhelmingly, centuries-old heritage
as well. This is the extra ingredient in Falco
Holsters more and more people come to
understand. “If you know, you know” rings
true here.
Of course, at the end of the day, Falco
By Kevin Reese
Holsters is a business, and focus on
hallmarks like heritage and craftsmanship
can unwittingly lead companies down a
modern-world path of high-drag, low-speed
failure. The only recipe for success with
such foundational attributes is equal yoking
between good leaders and those who follow
them, sound execution of plans, continual
improvement and unwavering, mutually
beneficial commitments to the mix of such
principles and profitability. Kováč, with the
help of leaders like Katarína Zacharová (VP
of sales and marketing) and Martin Lukačko
(marketing manager), makes it look easy.
Of course, for Robert Kováč, Falco
Holsters is a family business so part of
the incentive for success is blood-heritage
driven. Other leaders like Zacharová and
Martin Lukačko do not have that same
DNA connection; however, their personal
investments are readily apparent – Falco is
still family.
Today, Falco’s reputation is worldwide and
delighted customers are equally spread – I’m
one of them! My concealed carry pistol
remains tucked in a Falco hybrid leather and
Kydex IWB holster (model A116 2021).
Hunting is in the blood of Finnish people, and you can expect
enthusiastic consumers to abound amongst the pine forests of this
wild northern European country, as Gun Trade world discovers.
Finland’s northern
location and length
mean that the living
conditions of game
vary greatly in the different
regions of the country. Only
relatively few game animal
species can endure the rugged
landscape and severe winters.
The game densities are much
smaller than, for example, in
Central Europe. There is great
variation yearly, especially in
the population densities of
small game species.
The main game species are
the capercaillie, black grouse,
wood pigeon, hazel grouse,
willow grouse, mountain
hare, brown hare, moose, and
white-tailed deer and, among
waterfowl, the mallard. Fur
game include the red fox,
raccoon dog, American mink,
beaver and pine marten. Big
game, such as bears, lynxes
and wolves, require special
hunting licences for game
management or damage
prevention.
There are more than
300,000 hunters in Finland
who pay the annual game
management fee (ie. hunting
card). Women make up five
per cent of this number. A
total of six per cent of the
population of Finland hold a
hunting card, which is more
than anywhere else in Europe
when compared to the size of
the population.
Hunting card
Everyone who wishes to hunt
must pay a game management
fee to the state each hunting
year. The receipt for making
this payment will serve
as a hunting card for that
particular year. The game
management fee is determined
yearly in the state’s budget,
but for the past few years it
has been 33 euros. Before a
person can purchase a hunting
card, he or she must pass
a hunting examination. In
Finland, the examination has
been obligatory since 1964.
In order to obtain a Finnish
hunting card, a foreign hunter
must present a hunting card
valid in his native country
or some other certificate of
his right to hunt in his own
country. These documents
are presented to personnel
at the Game Management
Association where the
documents are checked and
a bank deposit slip for that
person will be ordered from
the hunter’s register, which,
when paid, will serve as a
hunting card. If he is unable
to present reliable documents
showing his right to hunt, he
must pass a Finnish hunting
examination. Hunting
examinations are arranged
by Game Management
Associations and are subject
to a fee. In practice it is best
Hunting rights
In Finland, hunting rights
belong to the landowner, who
may lease the hunting rights
in his domain to another party.
Private persons own 65 per
cent of Finland’s forest, field,
and freshwater areas. Privatelyowned
real estate generally
consists of land and water from
5 to 200 hectares. Hunters have
founded hunting clubs (hunting
associations) and leased areas for
hunting and game management.
The aim is to form sufficiently
large and uniform hunting areas,
particularly for moose and deer
hunting. Today there are over
4,000 hunting clubs in Finland
who have hunting grounds
ranging in size from 2,000 to
10,000 hectares. The clubs take
DOING BUSINESS WITH... finland
elk
Elk is hirvi in the Finnish
language. It is also known
as moose and belongs to the
family of deers. There are
several different types of deers
in Finland: poro, a mountain
reindeer known as the reindeer of
Christmas, and smaller ones like
the well-known bambi reindeer
called valkohäntäpeura. However,
the elk is the largest of all deers,
almost as big as a horse, with big
horns and weighting about 600
kg. The number of elk and deers
reaches almost 100,000 in Finland
and they can be seen almost
anywhere. Elks and deers are shot
by licensed-hunters and hunting
season is from the beginning
of September to the middle of
January; 20,000 elks and deers
are reduced yearly because of the
rarity of natural predators.
supervision in their areas.
The state owns about 25 per
cent of Finland’s land, mainly
in eastern and northern
Finland. Metsähallitus
(State forest enterprise) is
responsible for most of the use
of hunting rights and game
management on state lands.
Hunting permits
Hunting is also allowed
without hunting rights based
on the ownership or leasing of
land. In this case, the hunter
must obtain a hunting permit
from the landowner or game
tenant (holder of hunting
rights). Landowners and
hunting clubs often grant or
sell hunting permits for land or
water areas in their possession.
For hunting small game on
state lands, Metsähallitus sells
seasonal hunting permits and
short-term small game permits
for one to seven days. Small
game permits are sold either
for all small game species
or for small game species
excluding grouses. The small
game permits are personal.
The hunting permit includes
a hunting quota, which is
indicated as the permit’s
hunting score. Metsähallitus
also sells moose hunting
permits for hunting parties,
and personal bear hunting
permits. Hunting permits
for state lands are sold from
late spring onwards. The sale
of short-term small game
hunting permits occurs in two
stages, in June and in August.
Please verify the exact dates
by visiting the Metsähallitus
online service.
A foreigner intending to
hunt in Finland should find
out while still in his native
country how and for what
game he can obtain a hunting
permit. This can be done
conveniently through Finnish
acquaintances. Hunting permit
fees are decided by the holder
of hunting rights. Permits
usually include a game quota
which must not be exceeded.
The fees vary widely depending
on the game animal species
and the area.
Law Enforcement
Law enforcement in Finland
is the responsibility of
several agencies. The Police
of Finland, a national police
agency, is responsible for
most tasks. The two other
main agencies are the Finnish
Border/Coast Guards and the
Finnish Customs.
The Police of Finland is
subordinate to the Ministry
of the Interior and divided
into the National Police
Board, two national units and
11 local police departments.
Within departments, there is
a division between uniformed
patrol police and criminal
investigation police. The
function of each police
department is to maintain
general law and order, prevent
crime, investigate crime and
Brown Bear
Bear hunting has seen a resurgence
of sorts in Finland. As the brown bear
population has grown, hunters from
a wider area now have the chance
to participate in bear hunting, under
strict rules.
The management plan for the
Finnish brown bear population was
approved in 2007. The plan defines
the guidelines by which the Ministry
of Agriculture and Forestry continues
the systematic management of
Finland’s developing bear population.
A hunter who means to participate
in a bear hunt must first pass a
shooting test. Driving a bear out of its
den or shooting a bear inside its den
is forbidden. Using a food-related
bait is also forbidden, which means
that hunters cannot use carcasses or
unharvested grain fields as hunting
aids, for example. A female bear and
its young cubs (under a year old) are
always protected.
finland
Grouse
Finland’s black grouse population is today estimated
at 350,000–500,000 pairs. You can find black grouse
everywhere in Finland but greater numbers are generally
found in Central Finland´s boreal forested areas.
Hazel grouse are also found almost everywhere in
Finland. It is one of the smaller members of the grouse
family of birds. It thrives in dense forest habitats,
especially in spruce stands. Hazel grouse can be one of
the most challenging birds to harvest because it is hard to
see, since it is a master of camouflage and concealment.
Willow grouse was once the main source of living for
people in Northern Finland. That´s why it is called the
“bird of life”. You´ll find sustainable numbers of willow
grouse only in northern Finland and Rovaniemi or Ivalo
are the airports where connecting flights should be
booked. You can also take a night train from Helsinki
central train station. Rovaniemi is located 800 kilometres
from Helsinki.
The Police University
College is the national
university-level unit
responsible for general
police training, research, and
development. The National
Bureau of Investigation
(Keskusrikospoliisi, KRP)
is the national unit tasked
with fighting international,
organised, and serious crime.
The Finnish Security
Intelligence Service specialises
in the prevention of security
threats of the State, such
as counterintelligence and
terrorism. Supo was an agency
under police administration
but was transferred under the
direct control of the Ministry
of the Interior in 2016.
The Finnish Defence
Forces have provost duties and
jurisdiction within military
installations. The Defence
Forces also have the right to
investigate all military crimes
and most crimes committed
by servicemen against noncivilians.
In addition, the
Defence Forces have the right
to conduct counterespionage
and counter-sabotage
activities related to national
defence. However, the Finnish
Security Intelligence Service
conducts actual criminal
investigations of state
security-related crimes within
the Defence Forces. Military
unit commanders have
jurisdiction of investigations
over minor infractions.
Visit Italian shotgun manufacturer F.A.I.R. at this year’s IWA show and you’ll be excited by
the quality of the company’s new line of Fossari shotguns.
F.A.I.R. has concentrated
all of its 50 years of
manufacturing experience,
design and expertise to
conceive its latest over-andunder
masterpiece, a shotgun
designed to compete and win
at the highest level.
The fresh Fossari line,
that you can take a look at
over on IWA stand #1-615,
integrates the most advanced
technological solutions in a
shotgun featuring the Boss
locking system, which focuses
on size, balance and weight.
Everything has been analysed
with the utmost precision to
meet the technical needs of
any shooter, be it novice or
professional.
The idea of creating the
Fossari line stems from the
need to create a shotgun that
was designed and conceived
for shooting champions
– shooters who have been
practising diligently and who
are looking for a shotgun
specifically designed for
their needs. Fossari has been
purposely designed to bring
its buyers to a higher level and
to ensure that the shotgun
leads them to performance and
concentration, both key skills
that the sport requires.
The team at F.A.I.R. says
that the new Fossari shotgun
“… is a flawless blend of
tradition and technology.” The
cutting-edge technological
solutions and elegant design
make it an exceptional shotgun
for competitive shooting and
it’s certainly worth taking time
out of your IWA schedule to
take a look.
F.A.I.R. technology
XBD system: In all the
Fossari models the trigger
mechanisms are removable.
The operation is easily
performed without tools.
Simply press the release
button located in the upper
part of the trigger unit.
This simplification of the
process, in addition to
offering an obvious technical
advantage, greatly improves
the maintenance phases of the
shotgun.
TREX: The iron forend
provided with numbered
interchangeable insert (made
from special steel). They
interchange at the support
point between the barrel tenon
and the iron forend itself,
allowing the shooter to easily
tighten any excess tolerances
that arise from high usage of
the shotgun.
IRF: All Fossari models are
made with an interchangeable
insert in the breech made
of hardened and chromed
steel. This ensures maximum
durability of the weapon both
against wear and corrosion
generated by ammunition
gases.
X-CONES, XR-TRIGGER, XR-
STOCK, XBORES and much
more…
There is a Fossari shotgun
designed for each type of
competitive shooting: TRAP,
SKEET and SPORTING
versions. If you want to
achieve maximum versatility
in a competition shotgun, the
Fossari Sporting BSR model
is the shotgun you are looking
for. Stocked in Montecarlo
style wood, with XR-STOCK®
adjustable stock, adjustable
single trigger (optional) and
adjustable top rib, made of
resistant light alloy, which
allows you to change the point
of impact on the target. These
are some of the technological
features of this splendid model.
About
Since its creation in 1971,
F.A.I.R. has been committed
to an intensive research
and development program
and to the use of the latest
technology and materials
in the manufacturing of
its shotguns. This focus on
technical innovation, while
still following the centuries old
gun manufacturing traditions
of Northern Italy, is a key
element of the company’s
success in creating functional
and highly reliable sports and
hunting shotguns.
F.A.I.R. shotguns are
designed in partnership with
equipment in adverse weather conditions
and transporting it during amphibious
operations, for example.
Handling is optimised with the enhanced
pouches (EL) combine flexibility of use with
making it suitable for both petite and very
tall individuals. Like all modular backpacks
from Tasmanian Tiger, the 24-litre
backpack can be expanded both outside and
inside with pouches and equipment.
For missions in adverse conditions or
amphibious operations, the waterproof
taped TT Sentinel 35 WP with roll-top
closure suits perfectly. Its volume of 35
litres can be compressed by circumferential
straps, MOLLE in laser-cut design on the
sides allows for individual adaptation.
With the TT Base Pack 75, Tasmanian
Tiger introduces a larger version of the TT
Its volume can be expanded up to 90 litres
by adjusting the height of the lid or even
removing it and using the roll-top snow
guard.
function
Made of rugged Cordura (700 denier),
the TT Duffel features a large, lockable
opening for convenient loading and
removable stowable backpack shoulder
straps. The shoulder straps also serve as
a carry handle as well as single shoulder
straps. Various interior compartments
and bungee cords make it easy to stow
small items and clothing. MOLLE on the
exterior allows for individual adaptation.
The bag is available with 45- and 65-litres
