special language, so it knows how to speak to the mass storage device to read

and write data to the device (see Figure 8-9).

connections as well as the language used for communications are the same

organization. For the last 25+ years, the Storage Networking Industry

Association’s Small Form Factor (SFF) committee has defined mass storage

standards, the most important to CompTIA A+ techs being ATA/ATAPI.
