Clearing CMOS RTC RAM

You read about the process for clearing system settings back in Chapter 3,

but the process is worth repeating here. When you mess up a setting (by

overclocking too much or disabling something that should have remained

enabled—or vice versa) that renders the computer dead, you can reset the

CMOS RTC RAM back to factory defaults and start over.

Almost every motherboard has a dedicated set of wires called CLRTC or

something similar (see Figure 5-35).
