You secure heat sinks in various ways, depending on the manufacturer.

Stock Intel heat sinks have four plungers that you simply push until they click

into place in corresponding holes in the motherboard. AMD stock heat sinks

generally have a bracket that you secure to two points on the outside of the

CPU socket and a latch that you swivel to lock it down (see Figure 3-44).
