Creating a Virtual Machine

So it’s time to build a virtual machine. On pretty much any virtual machine

manager, this is simply a matter of selecting New | Virtual Machine, which

starts a wizard to ensure you’re creating the right virtual machine for your

guest OS. Most hypervisors will have presets for a number of crucial settings

to ensure your guest OS has the virtual hardware it needs to run. Figure 22-17

shows the VirtualBox wizard asking what OS I intend to install. By selecting

the correct preset, I’ll make sure my guest OS has the minimum virtual RAM,

hard drive space, and so forth, that it needs. You also need to give the virtual

machine a name. For this overview I’m going with Fedora Workstation.
