shutdown

The shutdown command enables you to do exactly that to a local or remote

computer—namely, shut it down (or reboot it). The cool part of the tool is

that you can use a number of switches to control and report the shutdown. A

network administrator could use this tool to restart a computer remotely, for

example, like this:

shutdown /r /m \\devserver

The /r switch tells shutdown to have the computer reboot rather than just

shut down. If you want to see the full syntax for shutdown, type the

following:

shutdown /?

Using Special Keys in Windows
