HATCHING ASIAN HOTSHOTS<br />

Since launching in 2005, the Angkor Photo<br />

Festival & Workshops in Siem Reap have<br />

served as a breeding ground for emerging<br />

Asian photographers. Shutterbugs from<br />

diverse backgrounds across Asia gather<br />

against the awe-inspiring backdrop <strong>of</strong> Angkor<br />

to share their work, ideas, and techniques.<br />

This year’s festival will showcase the<br />

artistic visions and voices <strong>of</strong> 20 participants<br />

from 10 Asian countries. Notable contributors<br />

include Divya Cowasji (India), Jarudet Chailert<br />

(<strong>Thai</strong>land), Mosfiqur Raman Johan<br />

(Bangladesh), Kleng Bonreach<br />

(Cambodia). All events are free;<br />

PATHWAY TO A LIVEABLE CITY<br />

Renowned for its diverse attractions and culinary<br />

delights, <strong>Bangkok</strong> also faces tough challenges<br />

beneath its tourist-friendly façade. <strong>Bangkok</strong><br />

Design Week <strong>2024</strong> (BKKDW <strong>2024</strong>) unleashes<br />

the city’s creative side in a quest to find<br />

cures for chronic ailments like traffic jams,<br />

air pollution, limited public spaces, and the<br />

impacts <strong>of</strong> climate change.<br />

The capital’s main hives <strong>of</strong> creativity<br />

– Charoen Krung-Talad Noi, Samyan-Siam,<br />

Ari-Pradipat, Phra Nakhon and Phrom Phong –<br />

buzz with designs and solutions aimed at forging<br />

a more liveable city in three dimensions. Hard<br />

Matters covers health and accessibility, Heart<br />

Matters promotes mental well-being celebrates<br />

culture, and Design Matters focuses on public<br />

spaces and strengthening communities for a<br />

creative economy.<br />

Themed “Liveable Space: The More People<br />

Act, the Better the City”,<br />

the event provides a<br />

snapshot <strong>of</strong> <strong>Bangkok</strong>’s<br />

many possible futures.<br />

NEW HAVEN FOR ART<br />

MMAD (MunMun Art Destination)<br />

is inviting <strong>Bangkok</strong>ians and visitors<br />

to take a deep dive into their<br />

imaginations. Situated on the second<br />

and third floors <strong>of</strong> Seacon Square on Srinakarin<br />

Road, MMAD’s mission is to establish a thriving<br />

art community in eastern <strong>Bangkok</strong>. The space is<br />

designed as playground to unlock creativity in<br />

visitors <strong>of</strong> all ages and make art accessible to all.<br />

MMAD <strong>of</strong>fers a range <strong>of</strong> art experiences<br />

catering to all tastes, including art exhibitions,<br />

art markets, and craft workshops. Current<br />

exhibitions include “CHILDHOOD: a solo<br />

exhibition by Sahred Toy” (until <strong>Jan</strong>uary 7),<br />

“Homecoming Mini” (until <strong>Feb</strong>ruary 4), “Pira<br />

Ogawa: My Life Works” (until <strong>Jan</strong>uary 7),<br />

“Chronicle <strong>of</strong> Colours” (until <strong>Jan</strong>uary 22),<br />

“Re: Look Exhibition” (until <strong>Jan</strong>uary 22), and<br />
