advantage of the holiday vibe
to unleash your creative side.
Art Exhibitions & Sales
Many of Pittwater’s talented
artists have exhibitions and
sales this Summer. Also, head
south to explore and support
our nearest regional art gallery
Public Art
Discover our public artworks
that are dotted around our
villages, parks and along
the coast. New murals have
added a splash of colour to
Bungan Lane; on Mona Vale
Memorial Hall; and in Village
Park, Mona Vale. Art along the
coast celebrates our beach
culture, local history, natural
environment, and Aboriginal
heritage. Head to Mona Vale
Surf Life Saving Club to see
designs based on the rock
engravings in sites at Ku-ringgai
Chase National Park; cast
aluminium oyster shells can be
found near Narrabeen Lagoon
and bronze plaques which
symbolize the ‘singing-in’ of
the whales can be found at
SHORT TRIPS
Step onto a ferry, water taxi
or hire a boat to explore some
magical places.
The Basin
A short ferry ride from Palm
Beach is one of Sydney’s most
popular camping grounds
– The Basin on the western
foreshores of Pittwater Kuring-gai
Chase National Park.
With the capacity to cater to
400 campers on non-powered
sites it will be busy at this time
of year but there are lovely
places to take a dip including
a protected swimming lagoon,
good fishing, several walking
tracks and wildlife. A day trip
is a good way to check out the
camping area for any future
overnight stays, which you will
need to book through NSW
National Parks and Wildlife
Service in advance.
Scotland Island
Home to some 1000 people
and accessed by water only,
the island is both a thriving
community and refuge
for native flora and fauna.
There are no cafes, shops
or restaurants and most
day trippers visit the island
to simply walk either from
one ferry wharf to another,
or all the way around along
the waterfront which takes
around half an hour. Elizabeth
Park, at the top of the island,
features a significant spotted
