DOG PARKS
Pittwater has some pleasant
spots where your dog can run
around. Avalon Beach Reserve
Dog Park is a mediumsized,
fully fenced area and
located in Central Avenue.
Hitchcock Park Dog Park has
a designated off-leash area
to the north of Careel Bay
playing fields between Etival
Street and Barrenjoey Road;
Dearin Reserve Newport
has plenty of large trees
offering shade and dogs are
permitted off-leash 24-hours
a day; at McCarrs Creek
Reserve, Church Point dogs
are to be on-leash in the offleash
area of the reserve on
Saturdays, Sundays and Public
Holidays; at Progress Park
North Narrabeen dogs are
permitted to take a dip in the
creek; Rowland Reserve Dog
Park at Bayview is a particular
favourite with dog lovers and
dogs who love the water;
South Mona Vale Headland
(Robert Dunn Reserve) offers
plenty of open space and a
sea breeze; At Deep Creek
Reserve, North Narrabeen
dogs can only be unleashed
when conducting dog training
sessions within the fenced
areas. At Mackerel Beach,
dogs can be off-leash between
the Wharf and the National
Parks sign in the morning
before 9.30am and after 5pmsunset
and Terrey Hills Oval is
open to unleashed dogs from
midnight to 8.30am daily.

changes.
Locals’ Tip: Make sure your
pet’s tick prevention is up to
date, and don’t forget to take
some poop bags with you.
QUIET
REFLECTION
Bible Garden
Situated high on the
escarpment, the Bible Garden
in Mitchell Road, Palm Beach
offers magnificent views
over the ocean to Barrenjoey
headland. Established in the
1960s the garden features
almost all 148 plants
mentioned in the Old and New
Testament. The garden also has
a pond, seats, table and a Bible.
All are welcome. Locals’ Tip:
Parking can be a nightmare;
better to walk there, or go early
or just before sunset.
The Baha’i House
of Worship
This prominent landmark
sitting at the highest point in
the area within nine hectares
of native gardens is open to all
people of all beliefs. A tranquil
place for individual prayer,
contemplation and reflection,
the nine-sided structure – a
symbol of the unity of the
world’s religions – is one of
eight Baha’i Temples around
the world. There’s a Visitors
Centre (with volunteer guides
available to answer questions),
a bookshop and a covered
open-air picnic area. 173 Mona
Vale Road, Ingleside.
Veterans Tribute
A memorial to commemorate
the 1800 service men and
women who lost their lives at
sea while being transported to
Japan and islands in the South
West Pacific during World
War II can be found at Mona
Vale’s headland (Robert Dunn
Reserve). The plinth has a seat
alongside it so visitors may sit
and reflect on all those lost
and all those who serve still.

Mona Vale
An open-air marketplace that
supplies certified organic food,
artisan gourmet produce and
conventional fresh fruit and
vegetables, freshly baked
breads, pastries and general
goods is held on Sundays from
8.30am-1pm at Pittwater RSL,
82 Mona Vale Road Mona Vale.
