Enjoy the moments of intimacy, without strings attached, while escaping into an exotic world. The fluidity and cat-like staccato bring drama into the stimulating dance. Movements are slow and arousing, the music drawing you into dips, dives, and turns. “We change lives through dance,” Tiffany Higgins, co-owner of the franchise at the Las Vegas Arthur Murray Dance Center in Henderson, said. “We have new and experienced dancers aged 50-80 who come here for exercise, meet people, make friends, and build confidence. We had an 85-year-old woman who danced here until the age of 100. She told others, ‘If you want to stay young, dance.’” Dancing is a hobby and a healthy habit, improving the dancer’s balance and brain function. At the Center, seniors are taught the sexy Argentine Tango, the Cha-cha, Salsa, Swing, and Latin Bachata by highly trained teachers. Dance students connect with old and new partners learning steps, techniques, and passionate gestures. Seniors come for date nights, four to five times a week, dancing the flowing Foxtrot, weaving Waltz, measured Mambo, or rhythmic Rumba. Many dance to the high-speed Hustle, or the let-loose Line Dancing. Dancers also participate in the four major dance events held annually at the Center. “Argentine Tango is different from other social dances, like Ballroom Tango,” reports Bryarly McEachern with the VTDigger. “First, there is the embrace. In Ballroom, partners arch their upper bodies away from each other, but in Argentine Tango, the chests lean in, even touching if you are using the close embrace. “People who have found their way to Argentine Tango are unabashed in telling you what they love about the dance. Some have found their soulmate through tango, others say that it rekindled their love for life, and many claim that Tango has made them a better person, transforming their relationships to themselves and others.” Nothing is more titillating than the physical touch when dancing the tango. Book a class, raise your arm out to the side, rest your hand in your partner’s, and dance the language of love. 36 January 2024 Lauren Tallman is founder of the Erotic Writers Group of Las Vegas and author of “Harem of the Dragon,” “Come Again?,” and “How to Have an Affair and Not Get Caught.” Visit her website: laurentallman.com.
