DIRECTOR’S VIEWPOINT
Yuletide and Good Cheer
I’ve said it before, and I’ll eas of our state
say it again, I do so love has had serious
impacts.
this time of year! It does
my heart Thornton, good Musso, to gather &Bellemin One group
with family and friends and of friends
spend quality time together
in a slower-paced fashion.
As we approach the Christmas
season, I’m reminded of
a quote by Brigham Young.
“Love the giver more than
the gift.” I find that such a
beautiful sentiment and
one that reminds us all to
slow down and take in what
matters most. It’s far too
easy to become inundated
and overwhelmed with the
commercialization of Christmas,
and far more difficult
to find peace in the season.
My Christmas wish for you
all this year is that the season
brings with it a balance
so that peace becomes the
easier of the two to find.
WATER TREATMENT CONSULTANTS
This month’s edition of our
magazine is an exciting one,
as we profile the final days
of Governor John Bel Edwards
and his administration.
Governor Edwards has
been a staunch supporter
of the LMA and its mission,
and we thank him for that.
Charlotte Smith managed
to find some time with Governor
Edwards to uncover
what the view of municipal
government has been like
from the 4 th floor of our Capitol
Building throughout the
last eight years. I think you’ll
find his insight on how municipalities
can better prime
themselves for more secure
outcomes, both helpful and
enlightening.
As we know, the recent burn
ban still affecting many ar-
wasn’t sure
LWR-R0018
if they’d be
able to continue
a cultural
tradition in the
heart of Ascension
Parish, but with a little luck
and a lot of pluck, they’re
carrying on. The Laiche and
Duplessis families build incredible
wooden structures
over the Christmas break
each year, in an effort to
ring in the New Year in a literal
blaze of glory. Charlotte
talked with them about
their plans for this year, and
how carrying on heritage
through cultural creativity is
lighting the way.
