WITH MUN
The Model United Nations is a series of programs
run across the world with the goals of furthering
understanding about the United Nations,
educating participants about world issues and
promoting peace and the work of the United
Nations through cooperation and diplomacy.
The Danube Model United Nations team has
participated in Athens, Vienna and Prague in
2023.
DISV students debated serious topics and
represented countries as UN delegates in
different committees, such as the Human Rights
Council, and the Economic and Social
Council.
Model UN simulations engage hundreds of thousands of
students each year, helping them to learn more about the
principles of the UN and how it functions. Many of today's
leaders in law, government, business and the arts –
including at the UN itself – participated in Model UN as
students.
Students prepare for the conferences by researching topics
ranging from ‘Resolving the disastrous effects of overfishing’
to ‘the political and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela’ to
‘Securing the validity of elections’ and ‘the ongoing conflict
in Yemen and the resulting severe humanitarian crisis’.
A DISV student shared, "I think the most valuable thing that
comes from these MUN trips, at least for me, is looking into
the perspectives of other countries and seeing their reasons
for political decisions."
MUN team Danube plan to visit Estonia, Germany and
Luxembourg in 2024.
