TCREA Mentorship Program
The Turks and Caicos Real Estate Association
(TCREA) has now successfully completed Round Two
of its pioneering Mentorship Program. It is aimed at
fostering a passion for real estate in high school leavers
and first-year college students. Over five months, the
14 students selected from high schools across the country
enjoyed learning about the various components that
make up a career in real estate.
The teens enjoyed interactive learning sessions,
open house exercises, education in sales and marketing
techniques, and site visits while building their knowledge
of one of the TCI’s largest and most lucrative
industries. Towards the end of the course the promising
future realtors took their knowledge to the field
in an exciting open house exercise. The listing—a
multi-million-dollar penthouse at the Wymara Resort
on Grace Bay Beach—provided the mentees with the
perfect opportunity to show off the best of Turks &
Caicos: a gorgeous space, sweeping views of the best
beach in the world, and a prime location.
Since January 2023, the group of 14 have met with
mentors monthly to learn the fundamentals of working
as a real estate professional. The open house allowed
them to put theory into action. Paired in teams of two,
they showed the listing to a diverse group of professionals
including Honourable Rachel Taylor, Honourable
Kyle Knowles, Elwood and Tremmaine Harvey, Todd
and Leslie Foss, Alvin Hegner, and Alonzo Higgs, who
all posed as interested buyers.
The Mentorship Program is currently led by
two-time TCREA Ambassador Trevor Musgrove.
Its aim is to ignite interest and excitement in the real
estate profession among school-leavers and college
freshmen. This class of mentees includes teens from
Providenciales, Grand Turk, North Caicos, and South
Caicos.
The committee of mentors is a make-up of seasoned
professionals from the country’s top agencies:
Vernica Delancy of Keller Williams, Nina Siegenthaler
and Lisa Lopes of Sotheby’s, Blair MacPherson of RE/
MAX, and Sean O’Neill of The Agency. As the real
estate industry in Turks & Caicos grows stronger and
presents as a rewarding career opportunity, Trevor and
the entire TCREA membership hopes more young
people will consider entering the field.
Thank you to Trevor and all the mentors for
dedicating their time and expertise to assisting and
educating the students. To the students from both
courses—we extend our congratulations and best
wishes for the completion of your studies and a bright
and successful career ahead in whatever path you may
follow. v
