4955 Rüdesheimer Rosengarten 2008 8 8 Rather rich. A fine example. Nicely harmonious even though<br />
Riesling Kabinett, it is not big in the mouth. Rather it is a rapid flush of lemon<br />
St. Antonius Weinkellerei acidity that carries the fruit with it.<br />
4956 Kreuznacher Kronenberg Riesling 2008 7 7 Very fine wine from the Nahe Valley. Grassy. Green leaf.<br />
Spätlese, St. Antonius Weinkellerei Oriental pears. Good finish.<br />
4957 Bechtolsheimer Petersberg Riesling 2004 7 9 Still has miles to travel. The palate is wonderful; plenty<br />
Eiswein, Weingut Ernst Bretz of sugar, fine, lifted fruit acidity, apple, peach and mulberry.<br />
Leave for a couple of years and it will be better yet.<br />
4958 Bechtolsheimer Petersberg Rivaner, 2007 9 9 Aromatic. Balanced. Reasonably full, but ends with little<br />
QBA, Trocken, Weingut Ernst Bretz more than citrus acidity.<br />
4959 Bechtolsheimer Petersberg, Weisser 2007 8 9 Dry. Rather austere. A very good drink, but there is nothing<br />
Burgunder, QBA, Trocken, very special to catch the imagination.<br />

4960 Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling, 2006 7 8 Light as a feather dipped in lime juice. Brilliantly balanced.<br />
Auslese, Weingut Meilen Plenty of sweetness, but perfectly presented.<br />
4961 Wachenheimer Schenkenböhl 2007 7 8 Give this more time for the unique Gewürz character to evolve.<br />

4962 Rheingau Riesling Classic, 2008 8 8 Simple Riesling character. Nothing fancy, just good, clean,<br />
Weingut Hirt-Gebhardt balanced flavours.<br />
4963 Franken Silvaner Kabinett trocken, 2007 8 9 Dry. Elegant. Very persistent. A fine wine.<br />

4964 Beerenauslese, Neusiedlersee N.V. 6 8 A stunner. True ice wine made from the few over-ripe grapes<br />
that the blackbirds left behind. Honey, peach, acid and<br />
sweetness in no particular order.<br />
4965 Grüner Veltliner, Qualitätswein, 2008 7 8 Austria’s favoured vine. No wonder, it is absolutely gorgeous.<br />
Neusiedlersee Light, elegant, full of life and liveliness. Drink now to catch it at<br />
its best.<br />
4966 Riesling, Qualitätswein, Burgenland 2008 7 8 First class wine. This is how many of the Austrian Rieslings<br />
should taste – low on kerosene, high on apple fruit with good<br />
lemony acidity.<br />
4967 Pinot Noir, Qualitätswein, Burgenland 2005 8 8 Excellent. A wine that truly shows Pinot Noir character,<br />
although it is rather hot tasting and slightly deficient in red<br />
fruit flavours.<br />
4968 Prosecco, DOC Montello Colli Asolani N.V. 8 9 Bright. Fizzy. Uttely inconsequential. Great wines for an<br />
aperitif now.<br />
4969 Il Maserino Dessert N.V. 5 7 Heavy – a loaded aroma, some oxidase on the horizon, big<br />
wine. It will not last very long, so enjoy this year.<br />
4970 Verduzzo, IGT Colli Trevigiani 2007 8 9 Dry as dust, but the fruit and acidity provides an oasis. It has<br />
now married together and can be enjoyed immediately.<br />
It certainly will not improve.<br />
