4745 Anubis Chardonnay, Bodegas Dominio 2008 7 8 Very good green fruit. Lime accented. Fresh and vigorous.
del Plata, Central Valley, Mendoza
4746 Anubis Syrah/Bonarda, Bodegas Dominio 2007 8 8 Amazingly full-bodied. A real sluice of fruit that fire hoses
del Plata, Central Valley, Mendoza the blackberry characters across the palate, giving good
weight. Firm tannins that need more time. Drink between
2011 and 2014.
4747 Anubis Malbec, Bodegas Dominio 2008 7 8 The Malbec, originally a vine from Bordeaux, lost favour there
del Plata, Central Valley, Mendoza as its skin was susceptible to mildew. But in the dry desert
climate of Mendoza, it produces a green and stalky beauty.
This needs another year at least.
4748 Premium Torrontés, AVE, 2008 9 10 Torrontes is to Argentina what Zinfandel is to California,
Valle del Cafayate, Mendoza the defining variety of the region. Dry yet perfectly balanced,
it has acidity like a fresh apple, notes of orange peel and
marmalade. Good structure, use in its youth or lose it.
Drink in 2010.
4749 Premium Malbec, AVE, 2007 7 7 Much more supple than a year ago, it has come round
Valle del Cafayate, Mendoza beautifully, securing good harmony of fruit and tannin.
4750 Cerro Azul Syrah, Bodegas La Guarda, 2008 8 9 A big, rich red. Utterly different from the saddle leather
Tulúm Valley, San Juan aromas of Australian Syrah, this has a cleanly defined level of
red fruit aromas and flavour. The structure is medium weight,
as though the tannin is there solely to support the availability
of the fruit.
4751 Cerro Azul Bonarda, Bodegas La Guarda, 2008 7 8 A lovely, big red wine, full of strong fruit flavours. The structure
Tulúm Valley, San Juan is solid with tar notes that increases the piquancy of the wine
in the mouth. Great stuff.
4752 Urban Uco Tempranillo, O. Fournier, 2007 6 8 Señor Fournier, with vineyards in Spain, Chile and Argentina,
Valle de Uco, Mendoza is a modern day “Flying Winemaker”, but he appears to have
plenty of time to create great wines here as well as in Spain.
This is very similar to his wonderful Ribero del Duero, 2005.
4753 Urban Uco Malbec, O. Fournier, 2007 7 8 No Malbec tasted during and since 2008 has surpassed this.
Valle de Uco, Mendoza It has been equalled, but this is a wine of fine quality.
4754 Alfa Crux, O. Fournier, 2003 7 8 This is as stellar as the constellation it is named to honour.
Valle de Uco, Mendoza Gil Fournier has put this blend together with sensitivity and a
wish to create a huge character.
4755 Poetico Viognier, Mauricio Lorca, 2008 7 7
Valle de Uco, Mendoza
4756 Fantasía Malbec, Mauricio Lorca, 2008 7 7
Valle de Uco, Mendoza
4757 Ópalo Malbec, Mauricio Lorca, 2007 7 7
Valle de Uco, Mendoza
4758 Ópalo Cabernet Sauvignon, 2007 6 6
Mauricio Lorca, Valle de Uco, Mendoza
4759 Gran Lorca Poético Blend, 2007 5 6
Mauricio Lorca, Valle de Uco, Mendoza
