Lot # Wine Year M D Comment
Cellar Offering 179
4342 Casa Nueva Limited Edition, 2006 7 8 Lovely wine. A perfect moment to open a bottle.
Cabernet/Syrah/Carmenère
4343 Casa Nueva Viognier 2007 8 8 A big, fat wine. Plenty of extract, but the flavour is entirely dry.
4344 Casa Nueva Family Reserva Chardonnay 2005 8 8 It was great a year ago, it is great now. No requirement to
rush for a corkscrew.
4345 Casa Nueva Late Harvest, 2005 6 7 Very unusual wine. Honey. Orange blooms. Notes of peaches,
Sauvignon Blanc but the green fruit of the Sauvignon is still evident.
4346 Casa Nueva Carmenère 2007 8 8 Before we had Carmenère, we had many other varietals, but
this grape added something special to the list. This is a lovely
example. Can be enjoyed for another five/six years.
4347 Casa Nueva Syrah/Carmenère Reserva 2006 8 8 Holding up well, but the Carmenère is taking more time than
the Syrah, so it is a little out of pace.
4348 Cornellana Sparkling Brut, 2006 10 10 Ready a year ago, it is still ready, but no point in keeping it
Cachapoal Valley any longer.
4352 Cornellana Sauvignon Blanc, 2007 10 10 Too ripe to be entirely typical. Rather rich palate. Losing
Cachapoal Valley its initial attack.
4353 Cornellana Chardonnay, 2007 9 9 Ripe and ready.
Cachapoal Valley
4354 Cornellana Sauvignon Blanc Reserve, 2007 9 9 Too rich to be entirely elegant but this is a delicious wine,
Cachapoal Valley full of aroma and taste. Drink between 2010 and 2013.
4355 Cornellana Chardonnay Barrel Reserve, 2007 8 9 Ripe and rich, there’s plenty of character here, but it needs
Cachapoal Valley drinking before the acidity leaves the party. Drink between
2011 and 2013.
4356 Cornellana Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 10 10 Enjoy now, it has nowhere to go that would produce
Rosé any improvement.
4357 Cornellana Cabernet Sauvignon, 2007 9 10 Like the Merlot, the fruit level is so high that it lacks tannin,
Cachapoal Valley but it is soft and easy.
4358 Cornellana Merlot, Cachapoal Valley 2007 10 10 Spirited and spicy. A beautiful soft red with fruit oozing around
every corner of the palate.
4359 Cornellana Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot, 2007 10 10 It has been a success throughout its short life, but that success,
Cachapoal Valley based on vigour and fruit is going nowhere. Drink this year.
4360 Cornellana Cabernet Sauvignon, 2006 8 8 Good feeling of austere tannin. Fruit is perfect and fully ripe.
Barrel Reserve It provides a full palate of sweet succulence.
4361 Cornellana Carmenère Barrel Reserve 2006 7 7 Powerful and rich. It will get even better.
4362 Cornellana Shiraz Barrel Reserve 2006 8 8 Very fine. The winemaker has produced a fine example of a
classic grape.
4363 Cornellana, Carmenère Gran 2006 7 7 Wonderful. A dark brooding colour introduces a dark heart
Reserva, Founders’ Choice of ripe blackberry fruit.
4364 Sergio Traverso Merlot, Curicó Valley 2007 8 8 We have been fans of Sergio since prior to his return to Chile.
He makes wines as well there as he did in the Livermore
Valley. This is a most delightful red of great charm and
structure.
4365 Sergio Traverso Cabernet Sauvignon, 2007 9 9 Very ripe fruit, but it is a touch short in the middle palate.
Curicó Valley
4366 Sergio Traverso Carmenère, 2006 8 9 Normal service resumed – another great wine from the hands
Alto Valle del Rio Claro of the master. Fine, stalky, tannic acidity makes a perfect
partner for the black fruit.
4367 Hacienda Maitenes Carmenère, 2005 8 8 From a high, upland vineyard producing plenty of tannin
Alto Valle del Rio Claro that is holding up the maturation process. Try a sample this
year.
