Environmental protection and
responsible handling of natural
resources have always been anchored
in the mission statement of Felix
Transport AG. Since Fabian and
Manuela Felix took over the business
in 2022, all sustainability efforts
have been summarized under the
slogan "Felix For Future". For Felix,
sustainability also includes not
making short-term profit-oriented
decisions, but pursuing long-term
goals so that the independent
company can be handed over in good
health to the fourth generation on its
100th anniversary. As an employer
for 130 employees from the region,
the idea of social sustainability is
integrated into all decisions.
With the procurement of two
LNG trucks in 2021, which emit 20
percent less CO2 and are quieter on
the road, and the procurement of a
CO2-neutral electric truck in 2022,
the foundation stone of the sustainability
fleet was laid. Since then, the
e-truck has been charged at the
fast-charging station using mostly
in-house solar energy. The photovoltaic
system on the company's own
roof comprises 1008 solar modules
and produces around 375,000
kilowatt hours of solar energy per
year. This is enough to cover around
60 percent of the company's own
requirements on the entire site,
which is fully equipped with LED
light sources. The biggest challenges
for expanding the electric fleet are
the investment costs for electric
trucks, which are a three to four
times higher than for diesel trucks,
and the expensive expansion of the
charging infrastructure on the site,
with the corresponding high-performance
connections to the power
grid. Despite the political uncertainties,
such as the unclear future of the
HVF and the energy supply, we will
continue to invest in the expansion
of the sustainability fleet out of
conviction.
Since 1985, Felix has been a
training company for the promotion
of young professionals in order to
proactively counteract the shortage
of skilled workers. For this reason,
10 percent of the staff are apprentices
in the professions of road
transport specialist EFZ (Swiss
Federal Certificate of Proficiency),
logistics specialist EFZ and transport
commercial apprenticeship EFZ
(Swiss Federal Certificate of Proficiency).
This makes it the largest
training company in the industry in
the region of northwestern Switzerland.
As an elementary link between
the producing and trading companies
and their end customers, Felix
will continue to make an important
contribution to a powerful and
efficient logistics chain in the future.
