Airsoft Action - December 2023

Another month flies by and here we are as always with a new monthly issue of AIRSOFT ACTION cram-packed with all the airsoft content we know you love! Kicking off proceedings this month with our cover and headline review Dan gets his teeth firmly into the latest OPFOR goodness from ARCTURUS in the shape of the PP-19-01 PE Z-TAC SP1, quickly countered for BLUFOR by Miguel with his initial field notes on the all-new SPECNA ARMS SA-FX01 FLEX, and we round out our main reviews this month by sticking with all things “9mm” as Bill heads to the range with the awesome CYMA CM106A PLATINUM! RED CELL stay on the SMG-track as they land their mid-term update on FIFTEEN MP5 VARIANTS, whilst the AA LEGION delve into the glories of AOR1 and 2 and what makes these patterns so special. There’s also a look at new eyepro from the EDGE tactical range that we’ve had in test for a while… We then turn our attention to airsoft around the world with our international coverage as Stewbacca lands an interview with the mighty NONOCAT from New Zealand, and then reports on his recent experiences at a Level 1 Competition shoot in Tainan! Miguel brings home his now-annual look at ANA Portugal’s SALAMANDRA game, and we wrap up this month with our report on the awesome 2023 G&G CQB WORLD CUP shoot in Taipei! You want airsoft? We’ll bring you airsoft stories and news from all over the globe, and we hope you’ll enjoy our content this month just as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it!

PORTUGAL
RESET, GO AGAIN!
Sunday morning we got the briefing for the last AO,
after getting some breakfast and gearing up. Our
main mission was to take the “Anthrax” produced
and deliver it to three specific drop sites, so we could
then sell it to the buyer who was on the way via
hydroplane. Not long after we started to move, we
found Marine forces attempting to
block our way, but with some quick
fence jumps we were able to get away
from the Marines and moved towards
our first drop site. After completing
the objective in Site B we moved to
Site A, but with no enemy contact this
time we completed the mission with
ease. Unfortunately, we didn’t have
much time to reach Site C, but one of
my guys decided to make use of his
trail experience and just ran toward
the objective, and he reached it in
time. In the meantime, we positioned
in the middle of the AO, just in case
some mission appeared in the area,
but it didn’t, so we watched our
Kommandos, in kayaks, reach the
island in the middle of the dam’s lake,
where the buyer and his hydroplane
were, to sell the “Anthrax”; with the
hydroplane taking to the air, the game
was over, and another Salamandra
completed.
The players retreated to the FOB,
took a bath in the dam’s water or
with the help from a firetruck that
the organization also arranged (it was
so good and refreshing!). After that,
we ate something in the FOB’s bar
(BifANAS), attended the giveaways
and said our goodbyes. Time to head
home!
And as always, here are some words
from the organization.
“Salamandra was back, and we
tried once again to create an event
aimed to be a festival of airsoft, to
bring players together to celebrate
all types of airsoft and lifestyles within the sport! The
need for relocation and the new set of new combat
scenarios brought also a new set of challenges.
But the core formula of Salamandra was there. We
browse through a narrative, across different type of
airsoft scenarios, where the choices and performance
of each faction dictates the next step of the story.
This year we pushed, once again, the boundaries
“WE WATCHED OUR KOMMANDOS, IN KAYAKS, REACH THE ISLAND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE
DAM’S LAKE, WHERE THE BUYER AND HIS HYDROPLANE WERE, TO SELL THE “ANTHRAX”;
WITH THE HYDROPLANE TAKING TO THE AIR, THE GAME WAS OVER, AND ANOTHER
SALAMANDRA COMPLETED”
