We are surrounded by opportunities at<br />

every turn, but how can we make the<br />

most out of them? We have a few ideas<br />

for a gentle yet powerful start to the year<br />

ahead. Let us give you a few suggestions<br />

on how to take baby steps towards a<br />

potential life-changing experience in a<br />

foreign country or perhaps even a career<br />

breakthrough. We want to encourage<br />

Cross borders!<br />

Experiencing cultural contrast<br />

A change of scenery can work wonders. For example,<br />

if you swap the big city for a mountain village in the<br />

Dolomites, you not only learn more about yourself and<br />

other cultures, but also about how other people live. Perhaps<br />

you’ll experience just that while reading this article<br />

during your stay with us at AMA Stay. We‘re sure you‘ll<br />

agree that you change the way you communicate and<br />

convey where you come from when you discover new<br />

places, be it in the mountains, in a metropolis<br />

or at the beach. Look for something<br />

Achieving common goals<br />

It is always a good feeling to win, but<br />

it is much better to win together with<br />

your teammates. Basketball, football,<br />

or volleyball players all know this. Playing in a team<br />

teaches you to work together towards a common goal,<br />

to support each other and how much fun it is to enjoy a<br />

mutual feeling of enthusiasm. Of course, all of this can<br />

also be applied to work. When we look at our AMA team,<br />

we can feel how much power it has within it. A community<br />

is simply essential for us as social beings and for our<br />

development.<br />

Arrange a business lunch!<br />

Networking over a bite to eat<br />

We love things that have seemingly gone out of fashion,<br />

although they still prove incredibly comfortable, stylish,<br />

and inviting and above all help us to strengthen our<br />

business.<br />

Whether you just want to chat, talk shop, network, or<br />

come up with new business ideas, everything seems<br />

more relaxed over a business lunch. A study by the Harvard<br />

Business Review has shown that negotiations are<br />

often more productive whilst eating together. According<br />

to the study, biological factors amongst others play a<br />

role here. Glucose levels rise when you eat, and this not<br />

only leads to complex brain activity but also appears to<br />

strengthen self-control. In addition, the subconscious<br />

imitation of the behaviour of others leads to increased<br />

prosocial behaviour. This subconscious imitation can result<br />

in positive feelings towards the other person and the<br />

topic of conversation. It’s interesting, isn‘t it? Our AMA<br />

Bistro is open all day for you and your potential business<br />

partners, so we urge you to stop by for lunch and a good<br />

glass of wine. Of course, it doesn’t have to be lunch, it<br />

can also be an apéritif at the end of the day or a business<br />

dinner in the AMA Restaurant. The way to network<br />

is through your stomach!<br />

Go on a winter hike!<br />

Viewing things with foresight<br />

Dust off your snowshoes or winter hiking boots, put<br />

your gaiters on, grab your hiking poles and off you go!<br />

Sometimes it feels good to trudge through peaceful<br />

snow-covered forests and up into the mountains. The<br />

satisfying crunching sound of the snow beneath our feet<br />

is enough to put a smile on our faces after just a few metres.<br />

And the higher we go, the easier it is to take a step<br />

back and view things from a different perspective and<br />

with foresight. The clear mountain air along with plenty<br />

of oxygen flowing through our lungs and body also works<br />

wonders. Serotonin, dopamine and adrenaline are not<br />

just beneficial effects of hiking in summer, but in winter<br />

too! This anti-stress training is spot on. Every metre in<br />

the snow is worth its weight in gold.<br />

Take an ice bath!<br />

Live longer and better thanks to biohacking<br />

Have you ever heard of or tried biohacking? It‘s about<br />

understanding your own biology in such a way that you<br />

can use targeted methods to improve both your wellbeing<br />

and performance. So-called biohacks can be, for<br />

example, cold showers, intermittent fasting, specific<br />

everyday routines and diets. It‘s about making life longer,<br />

more beautiful, more intense and more worth living. It is<br />

up to us how relaxed, energetic, happy and focused we<br />

are as we go through life.<br />

ice bath or at least a cold<br />

shower in the morning.<br />

Cold lowers inflammation<br />

levels, strengthens the<br />

immune system, trains the<br />

cardiovascular system,<br />

converts (bad) white fat<br />

cells into (good) beige fat<br />

cells, stimulates mitochondria and improves your mood.<br />

In addition, this type of cold therapy is a cure-all for<br />

everyday illnesses. At the same time, we train ourselves<br />

how to deal with stress in a relaxed way. Aside from this,<br />

the cold can trigger a surge of energy because adrenaline<br />

is released - ideal if you need a little kick-start. You<br />

should stick to the formula - temperature = maximum<br />

exposure time - as much as possible. 10 degrees = 10<br />

minutes, 9 degrees = 9 minutes, 8 degrees = 8 minutes,<br />

etc. For 2 degrees and less, 2 minutes are sufficient.<br />

in einem Team stecken kann. Gemeinschaft ist für uns<br />

soziale Wesen und unsere Entwicklung einfach essenziell.<br />

3) Verabrede dich zum Business Lunch, zum Plaudern,<br />

Fachsimpeln, Netzwerken oder um Geschäftsideen zu manifestieren.<br />

4) Geh Winterwandern. Serotonin, Dopamin<br />

und Adrenalin begleiten uns nicht nur beim Wandern<br />

im Sommer, sondern auch jetzt in der kalten Jahreszeit.<br />

Dieses Anti-Stress-Training ist perfekt. Da lohnt sich jeder<br />

Meter im Schnee. 5) Nimm ein Eisbad oder eine kalte Dusche<br />

und steigere deine Leistungsfähigkeit und stärke dein<br />

Immunsystem. Sogenannte Biohacks wie kaltes Duschen,<br />

Intervallfasten etc. machen das Leben schöner, länger,<br />

intensiver und lebenswerter.<br />
