Using typography with bold
colourful graphics, Jonny
Hannah’s work reflects his
interests in popular culture and
music. He studied illustration at
Liverpool Art School and then the
Royal College of Art.
Jonny Hannah, One Way Town, screenprint
Since then he has been working as
a hugely successful commercial
designer, illustrator and
printmaker. He creates limited
edition screen prints and lino
prints plus screen-printed books.
Jonny’s work has been exhibited widely, and in 2015 Jonny had a one man show at the
Yorkshire Sculpture Park, called ‘Main Street’. This fictional street featured three pop-up
shops made entirely of his 2D and 3D work stocked with curiosities, and showing a sense
of nostalgia for independent retailers on high streets in a bygone era.
In 2014, a monograph of Jonny’s work ‘Greetings from Darktown’ was published.
Darktown is a fictional place that Jonny refers to when overwhelmed by modern life and
this book of artwork, poems and writings provides an insight into Jonny’s passions.
