Double H Ranch Named an
Official Charity Partner of the
2023 TCS New York City Marathon
The Double H Ranch was recently named an
Official Charity Partner for the 2023 TCS New York
City Marathon, which takes place on Sunday,
November 5. Double H Ranch will be among
more than 550 official charity partners providing
thousands of runners the opportunity to run in
the world’s biggest marathon. “Team Double H”
runners can fundraise to support Double H’s mission.
The TCS New York City Marathon is one of the city’s most anticipated
and iconic annual sporting events, attracting runners and spectators
of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities from around the world. More
than 50,000 runners are expected this year after the race returned to full
capacity last year.
This will be the inaugural year for “Team Double H” to participate in the
TCS New York City Marathon as an Official Charity Partner. Five runners
will be racing in the event, each fundraising to support camp’s programs. To
date, the runners have raised nearly $25,000 to support Double H Ranch’s
mission of providing year-round programs to children and their families
living with a serious illness. Donations are still being accepted to support
the runners by visiting fundraise.doublehranch.org/NYCMarathon2023.
Team Double H is represented by: Megan Doster of Queensbury, is
a Double H Ranch volunteer and community supporter; Alex Griffen of
Granville, is an alumni counselor and currently the Assistant Camp Director
of Programs at Double H Ranch; Peter Gannon of Loudonville, is the president
& CEO of the United Way of the Greater Capital Region and supporter
of Double H Ranch; Chris Marsh of Saratoga Springs, is an elementary
physical education teacher at North Colonie Central School District; Ashley
Sterling of Freehold, NJ. is a registered nurse and former camper, counselor,
and current volunteer at Double H.
“The Double H Ranch is honored to be named an Official Charity Partner
of the TCS New York City Marathon. We are grateful to the members of
“Team Double H” who have worked so hard through their training, simultaneously
raising funds and awareness of the Double H Ranch in their communities,”
states Alison Wilcox, CEO. “We are grateful to the New York Road
Runners association for allowing us the opportunity to participate in one of
the most elite races in the country and look forward to being a part of this
exciting day.”
The NYRR Official Charity Partner Program offers an opportunity for
nonprofit organizations to raise funds to support their missions and services.
Participating charities can offer guaranteed entry to runners who
fundraise on their behalf.
BETA Welcomes
New Executive Director
This summer, Barkeater Trails Alliance built four new trails in four towns,
and updated, improved or extended many others. In addition to working
with professional builders, volunteers put in hundreds of hours, and also
laid the foundations for next year’s projects. All of this work will better serve
the communities and ensure a sustainable future for area trails. BETA is
grateful for Josh Wilson’s leadership and dedication for the past eight years,
skillfully building it into a strong and effective nonprofit organization.
Finding a successor was challenging but important.
BETA is happy to welcome Glenn Glover as new executive director. He
brings a wealth of professional experience, including six years as executive
director of the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance, four years as president of
Washington State Trails Coalition, and three years managing statewide recreation
for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources. He has
a special blend of experience, passion, personality, and skill to lead BETA.
Glenn is already ramping up into the position and took the reins as on
October 30. Joining him in relocating to the area are his wife, Toni, and their
two golden retrievers. During a visit this summer, they were struck by the
community’s warmth and welcoming nature. BETA is planning a series of
events in November for members to meet Glenn so stay tuned for details.
The 2023-24
Passport Program Is Here!
The SKI NY Passport Program-Kids Ski Free is back for the 2023-24 season!
This year the pass returns with more ski areas accepting it during holiday
periods. As in previous years, the passport is valid seven days a week except
for holiday periods at certain ski areas as noted. See the participation list
online for details as more ski areas are added.
The program is open to third and fourth graders and no reservations
at ski areas are required. The program offers free skiing for your third and
fourth graders with an adult purchase, and it can be used up to two times
per participating ski area. A valid adult ticket purchase can be made on the
ski area website or at the ticket window and includes season passes. The Ski
