We achieve this by adhering to standards andprinciples that promote transparency and equity to all our stakeholders,particularly to the people who access our services. The Board has overall responsibilityfor ensuring the operational functions are in line with best practice and thatgovernance of the organisation meets all its legal and statutory obligations.There is a clear division of responsibilities between the Board and theCEO, with the Board having ownership of all legal and financial activityand maintaining an overview of policy and strategic direction. The CEO isresponsible for devising strategy and policy as delegated by the Board.The organisation has comprehensive systems in place for providing theboard with key information associated with risk, financial activity, qualitystandards, and KPI’s.NOVAS’ Board comprises of volunteers with backgrounds in; finance, housing,social care, clients’ rights, advocacy, planning and human resources. For goodgovernance the Board has established four sub-committees to facilitate theirduties.66
