Broad and Balanced...
Year 3
Year 3 have been focusing on Art this half term and have looked at local and worldwide
famous artists. We have been learning about Alfred Wallis, Glyn Macey, Kit Johns and Vincent
Van Gogh. The children have compared the work of the artists and have noted similarities and
differences in their work. They have then recreated their art work and have created some of
their own landscape drawings and paintings. The children have enjoyed walking around the
class ‘gallery’ stating what they like about each other’s pictures. The children have really
enjoyed their art sessions and have created some great pieces of artwork.
In English we have been learning about Acrostic poems and have used our new knowledge of
adverbs, alliteration and similes to write our own poems. We then performed these to the rest
of the class and shared them with children in Year 5.
In PSHE we have been learning about different ways to communicate with others, talking
about people we can trust and celebrating differences within people. The children enjoyed
learning some sign language in class and they really enjoyed watching a performance at the
Community Centre by a group called Arthur’s Club, who told us three stories all using sign
language.
This week was also our last gymnastics session at Penzance Gym club and we finally got to
have lots of fun in the foam pit! Thank you to Penzance Gymnastics Club for supporting us
and the use of your equipment.
