A word from the Principal... Dear Families, It seems like we have only just begun this academic year and yet, here we are at the end of the first half term. Starting a new year can be a really big change for many children, with new adults to form relationships with as well as new academic expectations and a different classroom. However, all children have settled in really well to their new classes and they are all well set to make the most of the rest of the year. Since the pandemic, attendance has been a focus for all schools across the country as it is considerably lower than before COVID. Our aim is for attendance across the school to be 96%, which would be broadly in line with pre-pandemic standards. So far this year, our attendance has shown significant improvements from 22/23 and currently sits at 95.3%, so we are almost at target. We appreciate that children will undoubtedly have bouts of illness that mean they are not absent from school, but please continue to try to avoid booking holidays in term time. Thank you. Thank you to the FLS for organising and running our discos this week. The children had a great time as always! I’d also like to thank all of the volunteers who helped Claire and the team, it was brilliant to see so many people giving up their time to provide this opportunity for the children. We will be hosting a tour of the school for parents with children starting school in September 24. The tour will take place on the 7th November at 0930 and it would be greatly appreciated if you could share this with anyone you know who may be interested. Kind regards, Mr Adam Anderson Principal
What’s Useful information... been going on... News It is with huge sadness that we inform you that Miss Rome will be leaving us before Christmas. She has been an integral part of our school community for many years, as a parent, teaching assistant and teacher and we will miss her greatly. We are sure you will join us in wishing her the best of luck in her new role with Cornwall Council. We will miss you Miss Rome! Term Dates 23/24 6 September - 19 December (Half Term 23 - 27 October) Diary Dates 14-16 November - Parent Consultation Days 17 November - Children in Need 13 December - Christmas lunch 11-13 June - Moana Performance evenings 17 June 2024 - Inset Day Parking Please remember to park safely and considerately at the start and end of the school day. We appreciate that parking is limited, but the Community Centre spaces provide a safe walk to and from the school grounds along the community path without negatively impacting our neighbours and other road users. Thank you for continued support. Dinners Please ensure you book your child’s dinner option online every day, including packed lunch. This can be done in advance for the whole term, but the daily deadline is midnight the night before. You will be asked to provide a packed lunch if your child’s dinner has not been pre-booked online. Thank you.
