Homeowners and guests at Wheatley Place<br />
were joined by Celebrity guest David<br />
Harper to officially open the age-exclusive<br />
development in Shirley, <strong>Solihull</strong>.<br />

Wheatley Place, a state-of-the-art Retirement <strong>Living</strong><br />
Plus development for those aged 70 and over - that<br />
recently opened on Stratford Road in Shirley, has<br />
started to welcome its new community of residents<br />
- with BBC Antiques expert, David Harper, stopping<br />
by to officially open the development.<br />
The contemporary development offers a unique<br />
brand of retirement living with incredible amenities<br />
to help homeowners live a fulfilled and independent<br />
retirement. Apartments are spaciously designed<br />
with contemporary finishes throughout, fully-fitted<br />
kitchens with appliances and smart storage solutions<br />
built-in - every little detail is taken care of. It also<br />
comes with an enviable range of facilities and a true<br />
community feel.<br />
Evidence of this was proudly on display at its<br />
official opening event recently, which welcomed<br />
David Harper to Wheatley Place to cut the ribbon<br />
on the development and meet some of its latest<br />
homeowners.<br />
They heard first-hand from David about his work<br />
as an antiques expert and had the opportunity to<br />
pose questions to him about his experiences and<br />
forthcoming projects.<br />
David shared; “We had music, fabulous food, happy<br />
homeowners - who asked loads of questions during<br />
my talk and really kept me on my toes! Lots of guests,<br />
great company and a day to remember…thank you!”<br />

Opening was!”<br />
Lisa Shepherd, Estates Manager at Wheatley Place,<br />
has enjoyed seeing the new homeowners moving<br />
in and making the development their home while<br />
creating meaningful connections with one another:<br />
“Wheatley Place really has some fantastic facilities,<br />
while also allowing homeowners the opportunity<br />
to access a range of shops and amenities on their<br />
doorstep in Shirley high street and Sears Retail<br />
Park. There is also the added luxury of having their<br />
own wellness suite where they can enjoy a relaxing<br />
pampering and treatment of choice whenever they<br />
fancy. We also have an exercise studio, where we are<br />
currently looking to introduce a weekly Pilates class<br />
so health and wellbeing is a real priority and part of<br />
the way of life here.”<br />
David also took up the opportunity to stay in<br />
the on-site Guest Suite, which can be booked<br />
out at a competitive rate by friends and family of<br />
homeowners to stay in when visiting loved ones.<br />
David shared his thoughts on his stay in the Guest<br />
Suite; “I’ve opened many McCarthy Stones over the<br />
years - They’re always good fun events, lively and<br />
well attended, but this time, because I was travelling<br />
quite some distance, I asked if it was possible for<br />
me to stay in their guest accommodation the night<br />
before the Grand Opening.<br />
As someone who spends his life on the road filming<br />
antiques shows for the BBC and my YouTube<br />
Channel, I see and experience a lot of hotel rooms!<br />
And because I’ve seen a lot of McCarthy Stone Guest<br />
Suites whilst appearing at openings, I’ve often<br />
David Harper giving a comical, yet insightful talk to the<br />
Wheatley Place community.
