CLUSTER MANAGING DIRECTOR STATEMENT
FOCUSED ON
SUSTAINABILITY
G4S Belgium ESG Sustainability Report 2022
Bruin Bourgois
Cluster Managing Director
G4S Belgium, France, Luxembourg
At G4S Belgium, we understand the importance of
sustainability in both our business operations and the wider
community. As a people-focused company, we take pride in
the relationships we have built with our clients, employees,
and partners, and we recognize that our actions have a
direct impact on the well-being of these stakeholders.
In this sustainability report, we
aim to provide transparency
on the steps we are taking to
address the environmental, social
and economic impacts of our
operations. From reducing our
carbon footprint to fostering a
culture of inclusivity and diversity,
we are dedicated to making a
positive impact on the world
around us.
We are committed to
continuously improving our
sustainability performance and
encourage our stakeholders
to hold us accountable for the
commitments outlined in this
report. Thank you for your
interest in our sustainability
journey.
OUR PERFORMANCE IN 2022
OUR PERFORMANCE
IN 2022
We created a G4S Sustainability Taskforce consisting of at least 8 members
from all departments of G4S Belgium and headed by a member of the directors
board. This taskforce monitors, reports on and supports sustainability activities
and initiatives within all business units of G4S Belgium.
Employee safety and well-being
(see page 12)
With our vitality programme, we help our employees stay healthy, energetic and sporty.
This is done through a number of health coaching and sporting challenges. For each
challenge, we additionally support a charity with a donation. In cooperation with an external
partner, G4S makes the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) available free of charge
for all employees and their resident family members. With this program we support them
professionally and personally on several fronts, ranging from a psychological helpline to
practical information on everyday topics (emotional questions, practical questions, well-being
questions and career questions).
Next to the EAP we also offer specific psychotrauma assistance, in collaboration with our
external medical service. Our employees can get psychological assistance after traumatic
events in relation with work situations or private situations with an impact on the execution
of their job.
We offer our employees a free Bsit account to assist them when they are looking for a
babysitter. We value our employees’ family life and this easy babysit tool can help them with
planning absences and enjoying some (me)-quality time.
Well-being is also having a good work and life balance and being able to spend off work time
in the best possible way. That is why we offer our employees through our Benefits at Work
platform great deals and price reduction on travel, sports, and gifts promotions.
When possible depending on their job, our employees can work structurally from home.
To support them as much as possible in this, we have organised a number of workshops in
collaboration with a third party service provider around: vitality, psychosocial well-being and
ergonomics.
Via the Speak Out whistleblowing platform, employees can report situations that take place
and are not conform to the G4S values.
We anchor our presence in the local community through focused sponsorships. G4S
supports activities of youth associations in its neighbourhood (e.g. the Stroomloop of the
Vilvoorde Scouts).
OUR PERFORMANCE IN 2022 (CONTINUED)
People, culture and values
(see page 13)
In July 2022 we launched our new values and guiding statements (mission, vision, purpose),
supported by a comprehensive communication and awareness program to all employees.
G4S Belgium has entered into an administrative compliance agreement (ACA) with the
US Military. This went into effect on November 10 th 2022. We are the first company on
the Belgium security market having closed such an agreement with the US Military. This
agreement is a guarantee to all our customers that G4S Belgium adheres to the highest
standards related to business compliance.
Gender equality and gender balance are goals that we strongly support at G4S.
Our recruitment operations focus on gender equal and gender balanced recruitment.
In 2022 we reinforced the gender balance within our management team.
G4S Belgium ESG Sustainability Report 2022
Human Rights
(see page 14)
Procurement uses the Integrity Next and Ecovadis monitoring standards. IntegrityNext
enables us to qualify and monitor our suppliers to improve sustainability and compliance,
meet customer demands and regulatory requirements. EcoVadis evaluates our suppliers
through the EcoVadis scorecard, questioning our suppliers about ethical & social
responsibility and sustainability.
Our G4S Care activities supervise and support a number of detainees in our Transition
Houses. This project was set up in cooperation with the Belgian Ministry of Justice and a
project partner. It aims at preparing detainees for their reintegration into society. This way,
G4S assists society and supports social inclusion as a peace and justice sustainability goal.
In collaboration with Fedasil, the Belgian federal agency for reception of asylum seekers,
G4S Care manages a number of reception centers for foreigners seeking asylum in
Belgium. In 2022 one of our missions was to assist Ukrainian refugees fleeing from the war.
Here again G4S is taking up its social responsibility and assisting the society.
8

OUR PERFORMANCE IN 2022 (CONTINUED)
Energy and climate change
(see page 17)
In 2022 we accelerated electrification of our carfleet by offering electric cars to
colleagues with a company car. Even so, the cars used by some functions (systems)
are gradually being replaced by electric cars. More-over at the beginning of 2022 in
collaboration with a prestigious customer we’ve started executing mobile opening and
closing rounds on bikes.
In our offices we continue our policy of strictly separated waste collection, reusable
tableware, collection of used batteries and IT materials for recycling and using
environmentally friendly products and processes in our operations and for cleaning
(ie use of recycled materials in our guards uniforms, reuse of packaging of products by our
technicians, …).
Finally at the end of 2022 we’ve launched a G4S Academy guide on sustainable security.
Through this guide we want to raise awareness with our customers on how they can
render their security activities more sustainable and assist them with some practical
examples they can apply.
Anti-bribery and corruption
(see page 15)
In 2022, the training program on anti-bribery and corruption (ABC) was refreshed across
G4S Belgium. Those most impacted by the training, such as new employees, all managers and
staff with responsibility for making financial decisions and for controlling assets have been
prioritized to undertake the new ABC training. The intent is to refresh this training annually.
UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
DELIVERING AGAINST
THE UN SDGs
We touch the lives of millions of people every day: providing employment and delivering
essential services to help keep society safe and secure.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a series of global objectives to improve
sustainability and quality of life across the planet. The UN Global Compact calls upon businesses to
advance the SDGs through the investments they make, the solutions they develop and the practices
they adopt.
Through the range of professional and expert services that we deliver, and the commitments and
programs that form our ESG strategy, we have determined that we can make the greatest contribution
to four SDGs.
Indirectly we support the delivery of many more.
OUR STRATEGY IN ACTION
EMPLOYEE SAFETY
AND WELL-BEING
One of our core values, the safety and well-being of our employees and
those in our care is a priority for our organization. Our goal is zero harm.
Priorities in 2023
• Through focused sponsorships and fun initiatives we will continue to encourage our
employees to keep moving: sporting challenges, participating in groups at a sporting
competition near our HQ (Stroomloop), …
• Further focus on Road Safety: prevention newsflashes around the use of cars, motorcycles,
bikes, speedelecs and (electric-) steps; attention for road menaces for pedestrians; and
repetition of our G4S Golden Rules of Road Safety.
• Ergonomic campaign: prevention newsflashes with tips & tricks for a responsible use of tablet,
laptop and desktop, in relation with a correct body posture. This is necessary because of the
structural teleworking for certain jobs where this is possible.
OUR STRATEGY IN ACTION (CONTINUED)
PEOPLE,
CULTURE AND VALUES
G4S Belgium employs a workforce of approximately 4000 employees.Allied
Universal employs a workforce of approximately 800,000 people across the world.
Our human resources strategies are essential to the success of our company.
Ethics, values and culture
We believe in building trust and long-term
relationships with our stakeholders by doing
business in the right way. This means always
complying with local laws and behaving in line with
our values and policies, no matter what service we
are providing. We also acknowledge that building
and maintaining trust takes time and requires a
constant focus.
There is always a right way to achieve success, and
our values and Ethics Codes provide our teams
with that behavioral framework. Through our
culture, we constantly and consistently reinforce
these behaviors. They are embedded in what we
prioritize, what we recognize and how we work.
For our people, we demand zero harm and have
zero tolerance for unethical behavior. We promote
diverse viewpoints, encourage all opinions and
reward those that exemplify our values.
Priorities in 2023
For our customers, it means delivering great
operational performance, recognizing the value
and trust in our relationship, contributing to
building safe, sustainable communities, and
social value through our work.
Applying to every employee, from front-line
workers to senior executives, these principles are
enshrined in the G4S Ethics Code.
The G4S Ethics Code is updated annually and
communicated directly to all employees across
Belgium. Further communication and training
on the principles set out in the Ethics Code are
delivered throughout the year. Importantly, all
new employees are introduced to our values
during their onboarding, when they also receive an
explanation of the behaviors expected in line with
our values and the ways to raise any concerns if
they see or hear anything that undermines them.
• A relaunch of the updated Business Ethics Code and the communication of our compliance
obligations towards all G4S Belgium employees.
• Further focus on and reintegration of our company’s values by repeated communication
throughout the organisation.
• Launching and getting awarded the ISO 27001 certification on information security
management.
• Maintain our attention for the gender and diversity balance in our recruitment operations.
OUR STRATEGY IN ACTION (CONTINUED)
HUMAN
RIGHTS
Our ethos is based upon fairness and respect for human rights.
We are proud of the role our employees play in society and the positive
contribution that they make each day to protect human rights around
the world.
Foundationally, our business protects people and
enables them to enjoy their rights and freedoms.
We also recognize we must ensure we are not
enabling human rights violations through our
services, our customers, our suppliers or through
unfair or inappropriate treatment of our own
employees and others in our care.
At G4S, we are committed to the respect of
human rights and the continued development of
our ethical and sustainable business model.
We will use our influence and reach to help raise
industry standards, provide decent employment
opportunities and create secure and stable
communities in Belgium and around the world.
Everyone at G4S, whether a senior executive
or frontline employee, is expected to respect
and protect the human rights of the company’s
employees, the people in our care, those who
supply our company, and those who live and work
in the communities in which we operate.
We know that any human rights abuse is
completely unacceptable and it will not be
tolerated under any circumstances.
G4S Belgium ESG Sustainability Report 2022
Key procedures and initiatives include:
• Human rights matters are embedded into key business policies and processes, such as our Ethics
Codes, G4S Supplier Code of Conduct and Diversity Policy.
• We encourage our employees to use our whistleblowing services if they have any concerns about
human rights violations.
Priorities in 2023
• Closely monitor our G4S Care activities from a human rights perspective.
• Encourage volunteering activities within our G4S Care collective care operations to increase
support for these activities and involve the neighbourhoods around our shelters in our
operation.
14

OUR STRATEGY IN ACTION (CONTINUED)
ANTI-BRIBERY
AND CORRUPTION
Being trusted and reliable, and acting with integrity are key to our
values – they are an integral part of G4S’s strategy and form the essential
foundation on which we carry out our business.
We know that there is more to being a
responsible and ethical business – as an employer,
customer and supplier – than legal compliance.
Our ethical approach is an essential means of
doing business and provides a clear market
differentiator for Allied Universal, particularly in
many developing countries.
Anti-bribery and corruption (ABC) policies and
procedures form a key element of the Ethics
Codes for G4S. Both are supported by specific
training and awareness programs globally.
Priorities in 2023
• Initiate annual refresher training on ABC for all target employees in G4S.
15

OUR STRATEGY IN ACTION (CONTINUED)
WHISTLEBLOWING:
SPEAK OUT
AND ETHICS HOTLINE
A critical part of ensuring we have the right culture across G4S is
guaranteeing that the company has an effective whistleblowing process
in place and that colleagues know how to raise concerns and feel
confident in doing so.
If colleagues have any concerns that our
standards are not being met, we encourage them
to use our whistleblowing channel, Speak Out.
Any employee can use this, anonymously (where
permitted by law), in confidence and at any time
of the day or night.
All matters reported are reviewed and follow a
standard process of consideration to determine
appropriate handling of the concern. Serious
concerns are investigated or overseen at a senior
and independent level.
G4S Belgium ESG Sustainability Report 2022
Priorities in 2023
• Continue creating awareness of our whistleblowing channel Speak Out through all levels of
our operations.
16

OUR STRATEGY IN ACTION (CONTINUED)
ENERGY
& CLIMATE CHANGE
G4S recognizes that the threat from climate change to the natural
environment and social infrastructure is an important and ongoing concern
for our organization, our customers, our employees and communities.
Alongside the risks faced by people and
infrastructure from climate change and extreme
weather are the challenges presented by global
economic conditions. Managing increasing fuel
costs and the impact of climate legislation with
programs to improve the company’s energy
efficiency and reliance on fossil fuels, thereby
reducing our environmental impact, are essential
to the continued effectiveness, viability and
sustainability of G4S.
That is why G4S Belgium is adhering to the EU
2050 Climate target plan, which aims to reduce to
zero the greenhouse gas emissions and enhance
energy efficiency, in line with the Paris Agreement
on climate change.
To demonstrate this commitment, we adhere to
the ‘ROAD TO ZERO’ (EUROPE)’ project which
is included on page 53 of the G4S 2021 ESG
report and provides the target and a roadmap
for the reduction of our fuel consumption and
the decrease by our Company and Functional
Cars fleet of our carbon emissions to zero at
the latest in 2040. Regarding our operational car
fleet, we are planning a study taking into account
that these cars need to be operational 24/7 upon
first request and the current state of technology
regarding electric cars has not yet given us a
conclusive solution to address this operational
need with 100% certainty.
OUR STRATEGY IN ACTION (CONTINUED)
By demonstrating our commitment to
sustainability and the EU 2050 Climate target
plan, G4S is positioning itself as a responsible
and forward-thinking company, committed to
reducing its impact on the environment and
promoting sustainable business practices. From
reducing our carbon footprint to fostering
a culture of inclusivity and diversity, we are
dedicated to making a positive impact on the
world around us.
We will continue to source and implement new
technologies into our business, to reduce carbon
emissions.
Priorities in 2023
• As an initiative to reduce our environmental footprint we are resizing our office space at our
headquarters in Belgium (Vilvoorde).
• Due to the resize of our G4S HQ in Belgium there is a big cleaning/move ongoing. Goods and
materials that will be obsolete in the new office but are still good for use will be reused in our
G4S Care collective care facilities and not thrown away.
• Our new G4S Care Transition Houses to be established in 2023, will work towards full
sustainability in terms of energy, heating and water consumption.
• We keep on electrifying our carfleet, adding electric bicycles and changing the fossil fuel
vehicles of our employees to electric vehicles.
• We analyse the remaining fossil fuel consumption of our company vehicles. High use
consumers will be informed on how to act in order to consume less fuel.
• Car electricity charging stations are made available free of charge at the G4S offices and
training school.
• Our training school continues to install multifunctional smartboards and in all our offices we
continue to replace conventional lighting with led lighting.
• We will further promote our “Sustainable Security” guide with our customers.
• Offer of eco-friendly manned guarding rounds (lights and heating out after hours,...) to customers.
• We investigate the use of solar paneling to generate electricity for our operations and expand
the use of online LMS systems to train our personnel at our training school.
