last month at the IGA BIG Awards.
Held at the King Power Stadium, home
of Championship football team Leicester
City, the awards evening was a celebration
of the Independent Garage Association’s
members and to highlight the fantastic
work that has been achieved throughout
the year.
Congratulations to the two big award
winners on the night; Hillclimb Garage
Ltd won the Garage of the Year whilst
Dave Garratt was awarded the Lifetime
Achievement honour. You can read more
about it on pages 8 and 9 along with a list of
all the winners, congratulations to them all.

IAAF urges government to consult with
aftermarket on Net Zero plans
The Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF) has urged the Government
to consult the automotive aftermarket on its Net Zero plans, after the banning of new petrol
and diesel-powered vehicle sales was delayed to 2035.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced that
the ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in the UK
was being pushed back from 2030 to 2035, while saying he
still expected that by 2030 most new cars would still be electric
due to advancements in technology and manufacturer investment.
IAAF says the five-year delay to the ban of internal combustion
engine (ICE)-powered vehicle sales risks public enthusiasm for
the Government’s Net Zero agenda, but that the implications on
the aftermarket industry have not been fully considered as plans
change.
As part of the Federation’s intensive lobbying activity, IAAF
discussed with the Minister of State for Transport that the
Government’s strategy remains zero exhaust emissions, but it
was also confirmed that the ability to continue to use second
hand vehicles that have internal combustion engines is also part
of their strategy. IAAF has also suggested that future powertrain
technology has not been fully considered amongst the discussion
on banning new petrol and diesel vehicle sales, with hydrogen fuel
cell technology also a viable option in the pursuit of a practical and
pragmatic Net Zero solution.
Mark Field, chief executive of IAAF, said: “IAAF is calling on
the government to listen to the concerns of the automotive
aftermarket and allow it to play a greater role in the consultations
on Net Zero. The aftermarket industry is the leading provider of
service, maintenance, and repair of the 34 million vehicles on UK
roads, so it needs to be part of the discussion.
“Much has been made of the country’s triumphant road to an
alternative-fuelled future, but the aftermarket, as the pinnacle of
a circular economy that has been gearing up for a very diverse set
of vehicles arriving on its shores for some time, yet again faces the
goalposts being moved with little consultation.
“Everyone wants to do the right thing on climate change, but
they don’t want to be unfairly penalised and faced with changing
their mode of transport to a more expensive alternative at a time
when the cost of living is so high,” Field adds.
“The issue is that without certainty and regular consultation,
the automotive industry cannot appropriately plan for the future,
whether that’s powered by petrol and diesel, electricity, or
another alternative fuel.
“The delay proves that 2030 was simply a target, and in order to
realistically achieve this then more discussion with the experts in
service, maintenance and repair needs to happen.”
As an independent trade body, IAAF advocates for the needs of
the aftermarket supply chain including retained access to vehicle
repair information, to ensure suppliers are on a level playing field
with vehicle manufacturers, and earlier in the year campaigned for
retention of the annual MOT.

AT STAR-STUDDED EVENT
The winners of the first-ever Women
Automotive Awards, hosted by
Women Automotive Network, have
been announced at a prestigious ceremony
on 20th September.
The awards, which took place following
the record-breaking Women Automotive
Summit at Forum am Schlosspark,
Ludwigsburg, Germany, were contested
by an esteemed list of automotive
professionals, all of whom were nominated
by their peers and recognised for
their remarkable achievements and
contributions within the automotive
sector.
Women Automotive Network’s main
goal is to strive for gender equality
and inclusivity within the automotive
industry, hosting a number of networking
opportunities and offering a range of
benefits through its membership to
raise awareness and encourage open
conversations.
The Network is in regular communication
with its members, and through proactively
engaging with key industry professionals,
it was able to identify a desire for a
celebration of women in the industry,
resulting in the creation of the highly
anticipated Women Automotive Awards.

2023 WINNERS
Celebrating excellence in the

BIG Awards 2023, hosted by the

was once again a huge success. This

of a £50,000 prize pot, with each award

THE WORK
So what function is fitted to your car that you
probably don’t use fully or correctly? This
function costs the manufacturers millions of
pounds to develop, uses various sensors to help
make your life more comfortable. And yet, most
of you don’t utilise its function correctly?
The Auto function on your climate control system
What does it do? Why is it ignored by so many?
If we think about the heating system fully, we can understand why
we have it. Most people get into their car and drive off first thing
in the morning and demand hot air. Immediately.
But where does that warm air come from?
The water that cools the engine supplies the little radiator behind
the dashboard. As cold air passes over the hot radiator, it gets
warm by taking the heat out of the water. Let’s call the radiator
a matrix and the water, coolant. So now you have hot coolant
running through the matrix being cooled by the air flowing over it.
The coolant then runs back into the engine, cooling the engine.
All making sense so far?
During spring and autumn, the ambient temperature isn’t too
cold so the difference isn’t much, neither is our demand for heat.
But in the winter, it really comes into play. The air passing over
the matrix is now, potentially, about five degrees. The coolant
running into the matrix could be around 80. A fan on full speed,
in slow moving traffic, could quite easily take 10-20 degrees out
of the coolant. So, it now has the potential to cool the engine.
Significantly.
The engine is most efficient when it’s hot, but we have coolant
going back into it that could be as little as 60. So now the engine
is not as efficient as it should be and the heaters will become less
efficient too, as the coolant is now going into the matrix at 50-60.
Now the engine is unhappy and so are you. So let’s put an
electronic thermostat into the engine that can regulate the

temperature of the engine much more accurately. So now the
engine stays warm and you get hot air inside.
But we can do better than that, can’t we?
Let’s add an outside air temperature sensor, along with a solar
sensor to measure the sun strength and a temperature sensor
inside so we know what the cabin temperature is. If we now add
a control wheel for the desired temperature, the car can work it
all out on its own. It knows the temperature you want, how cold it
is outside, how hot the engine is, if the sun is out or not and how
cold it is inside the cabin.
So now the car can keep the fans on a low speed, to give you
some air flow whilst the engine is heating up. As the engine gets
warmer, the fan increases speed to give you more air flow. When
the engine is at correct temperature the fan kicks into full speed
until the temperature is the equivalent to what you set.
Now if we put a couple of motors behind the dash, we can
control that air flow. So when we set it to high in the winter it’ll
blow hot to the floor, because hot air rises and heats the whole
car up. If we set it to low in the summer it’ll blow cold to your
face, as cold air drops, cooling the car. Or you can just run it in
manual mode, rendering the whole process redundant!
So next time you get in your car, set the temp between 19-23
and let the car do its magic. OR NOT.

Phil Robinson
installed as NTDA
Junior Vice
National Chairman
On Wednesday the 6th September, at its Executive Council
meeting, the NTDA installed Phil Robinson, Marangoni’s
Senior Country Manager for UK, Ireland and the Middle
East, as its Junior Vice National Chairman. Phil now joins the
Executive Officer team of the Association and, of course, the
line of succession with a view to following in the footsteps of
many past ‘Masters of the Round and Black’ to become the NTDA
National Chairman.
The NTDA has, for many years, been a strong advocate for UK
tyre retreading and Phil’s appointment coincides with growing
interest, from UK based tyre retreaders, in NTDA membership.
Phil was presented with his badge of office by current NTDA
National Chairman Simon Wright, of Halfords Commercial Fleet
Services, who is currently in his second year of office and the
10th member to hold the position of National Chairman since the
change in title from President in 1999.
At the same meeting, the council members voted to adopt
new articles of assocation, which sees a change to the structure
of the Executive Council to better reflect, and represent, the
increasingly diverse membership of the Association from across
the entire tyre trade and associated aftermarket.

by customers of Motor Ombudsman-accredited businesses

● The awards, launched in 2020, recognise businesses accredited to The Motor Ombudsman’s Codes

November, and the coveted National Garage Star Award will be presented in person for the first time
during the CTSI’s Hero Awards taking place at the Houses of Parliament in London
With just under a month to go until the customer
nomination period closes on 15th October for this
year’s Motor Ombudsman Star Awards, the Ombudsman
for the automotive sector has already received nearly 2,300
entries from motorists across the UK. Surpassing last year’s total
of around 1,500, this is the highest ever tally of submissions for
the annual competition, which allows consumers to recognise
accredited businesses from across The Motor Ombudsman’s four
Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI)-approved Codes
of Practice, as well as individual team members, who have gone
above and beyond the call of duty.
The Motor Ombudsman’s awards are divided into two different
categories. The first is the Garage Star Awards – where customers
can put forward an independent garage, a franchise dealer, a body
repair centre, a mobile mechanic, or a staff member from one
of these organisations. The second is the Customer Service Star
Awards, which applies to vehicle manufacturers, vehicle warranty
providers, and the head offices of garage and dealer groups.
In their submissions via the dedicated portal on The Motor
Ombudsman’s website (www.TheMotorOmbudsman.org/Awards),
consumers are asked to cite examples of how businesses as a
whole or one of their employees went the extra mile to assist
them during their time of need, whether this was, for example,
displayed through an act of kindness or a demonstration of an
exceptional level of customer service during the sale or repair of a
car to get their car back on the road, or in relation to the handling
of a warranty purchase or claim.
Against a pre-defined set of criteria, the nominations received
since the start of May 2023 will be whittled down by The Motor

Ombudsman to create a shortlist of 24 finalists for the Garage
Star Awards. This year’s new line-up of judges will then have the
task of choosing one winner and two highly commended entries
for each of the eight regional trophies. Similarly, the Customer
Service Star Award winners will also be chosen from a narrowed
down group of entries to determine each of the three silverware
recipients for 2023.
As part of the continued evolution of the Star Awards, this year’s
overall National Garage Star, who will be selected by the judging
panel from the eight regional champions, will be presented with
both their regional trophy and the top prize of the competition at
this year’s prestigious Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI)
Hero Awards at London’s Houses of Parliament in November. This
comes as part of a newly- formed collaboration between the two
organisations for the event, which recognises individuals who have
made outstanding contributions to help others, and is centred
around the theme of ‘partnerships’ for the 2023 ceremony.
Bill Fennell, Chief Ombudsman and Managing Director of The
Motor Ombudsman, said: “It is very encouraging to have received
such a fantastic response to the Star Awards from customers of
our accredited businesses, and to see the level of interest and
excitement that the competition is so far generating across the
country.”
Bill added: “There is still time for consumers to put forward
an organisation or a staff member, to give them the best chance
of having their name etched on to a trophy, and for their
achievement to be publicly recognised.”

Joint venture Brembo SGL Carbon Ceramic
Brakes (BSCCB) to expand production
capacity in Germany and Italy
● Brembo SGL Carbon Ceramic Brakes expands production capacity to meet growing market
demand for carbon ceramic brake discs for passenger cars and commercial vehicles
● The expansion will take place at both production sites, in Stezzano and Meitingen
SGL Carbon and Brembo agreed to expand
production capacities for the joint venture
Brembo SGL Carbon Ceramic Brakes
(BSCCB). Both companies have been working
together with BSCCB on the conditions and
implementation plans for this in the preceding
months. BSCCB will invest around €150
million until 2027 to expand by more than
70% production capacities at the sites in
Meitingen (Germany) and Stezzano (Italy).
The capacity enlargement includes the
construction of two new production facilities
at the SGL Carbon Meitingen site with a
total area of around 8,500 m² and the
installation of new production machinery. The
groundbreaking in Meitingen will take place
this fall.
At the Stezzano site, production areas will
be extended by around 4.000 m² to existing
buildings and investments will be made in new
production machinery.
The extensive expansion of production
capacities will enable Brembo SGL Carbon
Ceramic Brakes (BSCCB) to meet the high
market demand and to cover the increasing
customer requests in the future. The need
for carbon ceramic brake discs from BSCCB
increased worldwide. This is mainly due to
the high product quality and performance
of carbon ceramic brake discs, which meet
the specific requirements of automotive
manufacturers, especially in the premium
and luxury segments, where high braking
performance is needed.
The agreed capacity expansion is an
important milestone for the joint venture,
which was concluded in 2009. Dr. Martin
Gruhlke, Chairman of the Board of Directors
BSCCB S.p.A.: “I am proud of our joint
venture and the fruitful collaboration of
the two shareholders. The development
shows that the combination of knowledge
and capabilities of both shareholders pays
off. Furthermore, we have a great BSCCB
team that works hard for the success. With
the expansion, we continue to be a reliable

Bridgestone urge
motorists to check tyres
As autumn and winter approach, Bridgestone urge motorists
to check tyres after deflating survey findings reveal risk to UK drivers
Bridgestone is embarking on a tyre
safety drive with motorists across
the UK, after 81% admitted to
never checking their tyres and only 14%
described them as the most important
safety feature on their cars1.
A survey amongst 2,000 drivers revealed
that despite tyres being the only contact
points between a vehicle and the road –
and responsible for 159 deaths or serious
injuries from defective tyres related
accidents2 – the majority of motorists
didn’t deem them to be as important as
airbags.
The results coincide with TyreSafe’s
National Tyre Safety Month taking place
throughout October, which aims to
raise awareness about the benefits and
importance of regular tyre checks.
Other headline statistics from
Bridgestone’s research include 54% not
knowing that driving on illegal tyres is
an extremely dangerous act, only 31%
of motorists admitting to being well
informed on road safety matters and
just 12% checking their tyre treads once
a fortnight, which is the recommended
period.
The Bridgestone results tie in with a
recording of 4,596 total casualties from
tyre-related incidents on roads in the
past years2 and there is an estimated 10
million illegal tyres on Britain’s roads each
year2
Bridgestone is embarking on a new
campaign “Become a Bridgestone Road
Safety Hero” starting with their own
employees but also want to spread the
message far and wide. For example,
Bridgestone is planning on conducting
hundreds of free tyre checks next month,
with its Bridgestone road safety team
visiting Roadchef’s Norton Caines Services
on the M6 Toll on October 19 to assist
motorists, with similar activities planned
for the future.
Bridgestone’s North Region Vice
President Andrea Manenti said: “We
remain surprised that tyres aren’t seen as
the number one safety device on a car in
the minds of so many motorists. In fact,
they are seen as less important airbags,
which often go off as a result of defective
tyres. The results show us that there is
still a lot of education needed around the
topic of tyres.
“For example, the research also
revealed that only 46% of motorists would
call out a friend if they knew they were
driving on illegal tyres, when the very
act of doing this could be the difference
between life and death. With sudden
changes in weather experienced in the UK,
it is paramount that we remind motorists
of the importance of tyre checks.”
Stuart Lovatt, TyreSafe Chair, said: “This
research by Bridgestone reinforces the
concerns we have on driver understanding
and attitudes towards tyre safety.

tyres granted for and don’t appreciate

cars with poorly maintained brakes.

UFI diesel filter technology for its latest
generation FPT F28 Stage V engine.
The integration of multiple functions into
one extremely compact module are the
fundamental advantages of the UFI filtration
system, and have significantly contributed to
the success of this product. Both the filter
and diesel pre-filter are assembled in a single
aluminum die-cast support and combine
the function of the priming pump, heater,
temperature and water presence sensors.
The temperature sensor and heater are
essential for optimal thermal management of
the fuel, even in the harshest environmental
conditions. In fact, the engine is intended for
agricultural applications, such as the Carraro
‘Agricube Pro’ range of specialised orchard
and vineyard tractors. This type of electrical
sensors is therefore essential to guarantee
the four-cylinder engine’s operation, even in
open country and during the coldest months,
facilitating productivity and low engine
consumption.
The priming pump is a useful element
during filter element replacement operations,
to correctly recharge the fuel in the circuit.
The pre-filter plays a central role in filtering
the coarsest particles and performs the
primary function of separating the water
from the fuel. This is why it is equipped with a
liquid presence sensor, which indicates when
it is time to empty the separated water with a
purge tap that is integrated in the sensor.
It also has a mixed cellulose and synthetic
filter media, developed by UFI according to
its FormulaUFI.H2O material specifications,
with a water separation capacity of more
than 95% according to ISO 16332 and a
filtration capacity capable of blocking more
than 98% of particles larger than 20 microns.
It thus ensures a replacement interval of
up to 600 working hours. The filter can also
rely on the same filtration formula, featuring
a fine filtration function, with a separation
capacity of more than 95% for particles up to
4µm, according to ISO 19438.

Engine management specialist SMP
Europe has overhauled the development
and manufacturing of its air mass meter
range, with investments bolstering its
in-house research and development
capability, enabling the entire process
to be completed at its Nottinghamshire
headquarters.
Air mass meters are sensors that
measure air entering the engine and
convert this data into a signal understood
by the vehicle electronic control unit
(ECU), which then determines load and
calculates subsequent fuelling and ignition
timing.

Excellence are developed using the
latest technology, wire bonded to ensure
durability, and tested to exacting standards
to meet and exceed original equipment

workouts.

The Shareholder Committee of HELLA GmbH & Co. KGaA
has appointed Stefanie Rheker as a new member of the
Management Board. There, she will assume responsibility for
the automotive supplier’s global human resources management and
will take up her role in the second quarter of 2024 at the latest.
Human Resources is currently managed at Management Board level
by Michel Favre, in addition to his role as Chief Executive Officer.
Stefanie Rheker has many years of experience and leadership
skills in human resources management. Since 2006, she has
held various specialist and management positions at Arvato, a
Bertelsmann subsidiary based in Gütersloh, which among other
things, specialises in logistics services. There, the 44-year-old has
held global responsibility for human resources as Chief Human
Resources Officer since 2015. Previously, she worked for various
other companies in Germany and the USA.
“Only with qualified staff can a company be and remain
successful. We are therefore delighted to have Stefanie Rheker,
a proven expert in modern human resources management, join
the HELLA Management Board in the key role of Chief Human
Resources Officer. Together with the global management team,
as well as the employees worldwide, she will drive the successful
further development of the company,” said Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang
Ziebart, Chairman of the HELLA Shareholder Committee.

Melett strengthens
marketing team with
new appointment
Turbocharger manufacturing specialist Melett has bolstered its
marketing team with the appointment of Jacqueline Barker as
Marketing Assistant, to shore up company communications and
develop positive customer relations.
Barker, who has been with Melett for 4.5 years, moves into the
team from the customer care department, where she focused on
developing and maintaining relationships with Melett’s customers,
and is therefore well placed in understanding ongoing demand and
key customer requirements.
In her new role, she will support the marketing department by
assisting on creative campaign delivery and maximising engaging
customer contact.
Barker said: “I’m really pleased to have been appointed to
the marketing team and support efforts to fulfil our role as our
customers’ trusted advisor, and I look forward to engaging with them
in creative, dynamic, and informative ways.
“I’m excited to have the chance to work on digital design projects,
as it allows me to combine my creativity and passion for design. I love
the welcoming, supportive, and collaborative working environment
of the office at Melett – the company is consistent in its approach of
adding value and maintaining positive client relationships.”
Some of Barker’s key roles will be to assist with new product
bulletins, social media content, internal communications, reporting
on key business metrics and website administration.

closely with customers to build strong relationships in her previous
role. This, combined with her creative skill set, will enable us to
improve our communication with customers even further. Her

Aftermarket for EMEA
VLS Welcomes New
Chair Jacquie Berryman
The Verification of Lubricant Specifications (VLS) is delighted
to welcome Jacquie Berryman as its new Chair. Jacquie takes
over from Mike Bewsey, who has become President of the
United Kingdom Lubricants Association (UKLA).
Currently Industry Liaison Advisor at Infineum, Jacquie
has been involved in VLS since 2015 as a member of the
Supervisory Board. She is also the Past President of the
Additives Technical Committee (ATC) and has over twenty
years of experience in the lubricants industry.
Jacquie is a strong advocate for VLS and the work it does as
an independent trade body to allow all lubricant companies to
compete on service, value and product quality whilst assuring
the claims made on lubricant products are valid and reliable.
In her time as Chair, Jacquie is keen to support the
lubricants industry through the transition to alternative fuels,
the implementation of Euro 7 and future ACEA changes,
as well as maintain VLS’s track record in managing noncompliance.
“VLS has an important role to play in helping lubricant
manufacturers and marketers to navigate a complex and
changing market. We must also continue to support and
educate end users by upholding industry standards, ensuring
that retail consumers are protected and that workshops can
fit products with confidence, whatever type of vehicle or
engine they are working with.
VLS has already received a record number of cases this
year, demonstrating the impact of complexity in a changing
market. Our role to ensure products are brought into
compliance and can deliver what they claim is more important
than ever.”
Jacquie officially became Chair at the VLS AGM on 22nd
September. VLS Company Secretary David Wright adds: “It
has been a pleasure to work with Mike for the past eight
years, and we would like to thank him for his support for VLS.
We look forward to working with Jacquie and continuing VLS’s
work to ensure consumer confidence and trust in the UK
lubricants industry.”

of Juan Thomaz to the role of Vice President and General
Manager Aftermarket in the EMEA region. Thomaz will be
tasked with continuing to drive growth in the market for the
Delphi, Delco Remy®, and Hartridge brands.
Juan takes on the new role at an exciting time for PHINIA,
which started trading as an independent entity on the New
York Stock Exchange in July 2023, following a spin-off from
BorgWarner. The business comprises market-leading fuel
systems and aftermarket solutions designed to advance
sustainability today, and power a carbon-free tomorrow.
Juan brings with him nearly 20 years of experience in the
automotive industry and deep expertise in the Aftermarket
sector. Most recently Juan was Commercial Director for
EMEA – a role he took on in 2022. Juan has held positions
of increasing responsibilities in a number of global markets
including Europe, South America and Asia Pacific. Juan holds a
mechanical engineering degree from the Federal University of
Santa Catarina, Brazil, and a master’s degree in economics &
Corporate management from the IFP School, Rueil-Malmaison,
France.
Commenting on the new appointment, Neil Fryer, Vice
President and General Manager for Global Aftermarket,
said, “Juan is a natural fit for this role, bringing a wealth
of experience across the automotive industry, and deep
expertise in the Aftermarket space. I look forward to working

New survey reveals how
young automotive students
feel about a future career in
the industry
Autotech Academy, an organisation dedicated to supporting
the transition of newly qualified automotive students onto the
industry’s career ladder, has unveiled a new survey report that
shines a spotlight on the aspirations, concerns, and expectations
of young vehicle technicians aged 16-24.
The results of the survey, conducted between June and August
2023, indicate that the industry urgently needs to prioritise the
next generation of automotive talent and highlight the pressing
need for a more far-sighted approach.
Skills shortages and the youth perspective
For years, the automotive industry has grappled with skills shortages
and the challenge of attracting fresh talent. In fact, the Institute
of the Motor Industry (IMI) says there are 160,000 vacancies in the
sector that need filling by 2031. Autotech Academy’s ‘Automotive
Future Survey Report’ presents a stark view of the situation. The
survey, which focused on respondents across 90 colleges in the UK,
found that around 42% lack confidence in securing a well-paid job
within the industry after completing their automotive course.
A passionate, ambitious workforce
The survey reveals an industry brimming with ambition, with two
thirds of respondents citing their unwavering passion for all things
automotive as the primary reason for choosing this career path.
Over 15% reported that they prefer the hands-on nature of the
automotive industry, emphasising the value of practical skills.
Encouragingly, almost ALL respondents (95%) expressed their
desire to carve out a career in the automotive industry.
The drive for career satisfaction
Young technicians aren’t simply seeking employment, they’re
searching for a fulfilling career. Nearly 90% of them are confident
that they will find enjoyment in their chosen profession in the
automotive industry.
Interestingly, these aspiring vehicle technicians prioritise
job enjoyment above all else when considering employment
opportunities, giving it an average rating of 4.97 out of 5.
A resounding 85% envision a long-term future as vehicle
technicians, a dedication which signifies a commitment to the
industry and a desire for career stability.
Urgent industry action required
However, there’s a stark discrepancy between enthusiasm and
confidence in the industry’s ability to provide well-paid jobs.
Two thirds of respondents are confident they will find employment
in the motor industry. But when it comes to finding a well-paid job
in the sector, that confidence slips by almost 9%. In an era where
the automotive sector faces a severe skills shortage, this lack of
confidence in competitive salaries is a serious concern.
This means that a third of newly qualified or nearly qualified
vehicle technicians don’t have the confidence necessary to pursue
their qualification as a profession. It is clear that this lack of
assurance among many young vehicle technicians is a significant
cause for concern. This is likely due in part to the fact that
automotive employers are often unwilling to consider hiring qualified
candidates without practical experience.
Creating a robust talent pool
The UK’s motor industry simply cannot afford to lose these talented
individuals, and it is therefore imperative that we find ways to
develop more inclusive and accessible
employment practices in our sector.
By doing so, the industry can create
a more robust and competitive talent
pool, to the benefit of everyone
involved.
It was the very foundation on which
Autotech Group founded its Autotech
Academy division.
Providing newly qualified
technicians with a pathway into
automotive employment through a paid internship. Every candidate
is vetted, interviewed, and provided with a toolbox and uniform
before embarking on a 6-12 month internship.
Since its launch in 2021, Autotech Academy has placed nearly 300
interns across the industry with a success rate of over 85% of these
young people transitioning to permanent employment at the end of
their internship period.
