We are very grateful to all for this expression of kindness that will do much in the coming months to provide the important services offered by The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care to nearly 600 patients a day in Erie County. This outstanding financial assistance speaks to how much Hospice is valued in our community and at the same time is a tribute to all Hospice caregivers and bedside volunteers. For the past 15 years, the Hospice Foundation has had the help of a distinguished group of fundraising volunteers – The Hospice Signature Society. We are grateful to these individuals who make a tremendous difference in our year-end fundraising efforts. Their commitment, dedication and support helps us to raise important dollars needed to ensure the continuation of care for our patients and their loved ones. We are most appreciative of our donors continuing financial commitment and confidence in our mission, amidst uncertain economic times. Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Watertown, New York, along with Sarasota, Florida and Phoenix, Arizona with over 1,500 agents and employees. “I have seen first-hand the outstanding care and comprehensive support that Hospice provides to hundreds of people every day,” noted Mr. Izzo. “Our trustees are committed to helping Hospice sustain and grow its services to meet the needs of our communities while being an excellent steward of the resources entrusted to us.” Mr. Izzo has more than 25 years of experience in leadership, management, sales, human resources, professional speaking and consulting. Active in the community, Mr. Izzo is a member of the CARTUS Principal Advisory Board and is a past member and Vice President of Leadership Buffalo. He has also served as chair of the Board for the Taste of Buffalo, and a chair of the Executive Committee of St. Mary’s Parish in Amherst, New York. In addition, Mr. Izzo has provided his leadership skills and support to other non-profit groups including Upstate New York Transplant Services, and Essential Care for Children, an affiliate program of Home Care Buffalo. Mr. Izzo and his wife, Jackie, have two children, Rick and Jessica.

The Spring Bouquet Sale is the largest event of the Hospice Foundation. More than 50 local florists, 450 area businesses, schools, organizations and 500 volunteers support this event, and we hope you will, too. The Coalition for Health Care Decision-Making is offering the Respecting Choices © Advance Care Planning Facilitator Course this spring. An Advance Care Planning Facilitator is a person who is able to guide others to understand and explore options for advance care planning. This includes determining life values and goals for future care and medical treatments during the final phases of life. The course is $139.00 and consists of two components: the Respecting Choices ® on-line training and 1 classroom day. The online training modules 1-6 must be completed prior to the classroom day. The classroom day will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2009, from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Hospice Mitchell Campus, 225 Como Park Blvd., Cheektowaga.
