86 TH ANNUAL CONVENTION
86th Annual Convention
Over 1500 local elected officials,
municipal employees,
and special guests, representing
303 municipalities
and two parish governments,
convened in Alexandria for
the Louisiana Municipal Association’s
(LMA) 86th Annual
Convention
The convention held at the
Riverfront Center from August
3-5, 2023, celebrated
local achievements, facilitated
knowledge sharing, and
honored the commitment of
Louisiana’s municipal leaders
The convention served as a
significant platform to address
the state’s municipal
concerns, celebrate local governance,
and foster a shared
sense of purpose among municipal
leaders.
Throughout the
event, attendees
echoed a common
sentiment
of collective
growth, with a
focus on innovation,
community
engagement,
and sustainable
development
for the future of
Louisiana.
“Alexandria was
honored to host
the LMA this year
and visit with all
our Louisiana friends and, truly,
municipal families,” said Alexandria
Mayor Jacques Roy.
“We are so excited about Louisiana’s
future with the cadre of
leaders across our state ready
to take on serious problems
and make Louisiana better.
What is most important about
this convention is what we
learn from each other. Cities
are incubators of the best of
local government, and I hope
other leaders will listen to the
