Airsoft Action - October 2023

Even though we're currently having our annual vacation and office shutdown, here we go with the the very latest issue of AIRSOFT ACTION, and as usual it's a bit of a beast with 100 PAGES of free-to-read news, reviews, event reports from around the globe, and a healthy dose of attitude and airsoft opinion! Kicking off with our headline review this month Bill gets some serious rangetime in with the KING ARMS TWS 9MM SBR, an AR GBBR that actually uses G-SERIES magazine many of you probably already have for your handguns... why are more people not talking about this breakthrough gas model... we have no idea, but we'll certainly say our piece! Following on from there we have a first look at the all-new SGR 556 from G&G, the just-released ICS CXP APE SE,and the newest BATTLE ARMS DEVELOPMENT SBR AEG (courtesy of Larri in his first-ever AEG review!) from our old mates at REDWOLF! Then there's a further FIFTEEN SMG models that are moving on through the RED CELL testing program, along with a recap on the ROSSI NEPTUNE SAS six-months in! In terms of kit Bill reflects back on the clothing and gear that he used on the FAST TACTICAL training course he attended recently, and the good folk of the AA LEGION "GO GREEN FTW!" And then... THEN... we have our annual report from the AA crew that attended the NATIONAL AIRSOFT FESTIVAL in the UK, a BIG game report from Portugal thanks to Miguel, and our power-duo of Stewbacca and Anny firstly get "Inside LCT" for an update, and secondly bring in the lowdown on the DING DING CUP Steel Challenge in Taiwan, an event that AIRSOFT ACTION was honoured to support! So, you want more gear, more guns, more news, and more airsoft? You'll find a bit of everything airsoft in this issue, so kick back and get stuck in!

RELOADED
ROSSI NEPTUNE 10.5” SAS
made under licence from ERGO by Element, and the
quality is first rate; fitting was a breeze to as it came
complete with base plate and base plate screws.
now it goes far beyond that, and with real-cap mags
I’d be happy to run this alongside my full multicam
regalia in a MilSim setting.
Hats off to ROSSI for creating something that
offers a real opportunity to replicate the L119A2 on
a sensible budget, and given my experience with
the NEPTUNE 10.5” SAS I’m keen to see what their
other AEG and GBBR models
CONTACT.
WAIT. OUT.
With the external
finish now as
complete as I
wish it to be,
I’m pleased to
report that the
performance of
the “SAS” has
continued to be
excellent, and it
feels smoother now that everything has bedded in; it’s
genuinely ready for any “contact”.
The carbine chrono’d as new at a perfectly
acceptable mean of 1.0 Joule/330fps on a .20g
BB and has stayed there, with virtually no major
deviation. I’m now a little over 11K BBs downrange so
far, and this has been mostly on semi-auto, and that’s
sure to test any AEG. I’ve pushed up now to .30g BBs
with the ROSSI as frankly the hop has handled these
well, giving good results for accuracy at 30-40m, and
in terms of out and out range I’m now hitting targets
solidly at 50m+… I believe that the “SAS” still has
some legs though.
I’ve still haven’t changed anything at all in relation
to the programming to be honest as “classic” mode
continues to deliver all that I need; the trigger is crisp
and responsive, every AR mag I own feeds through
it, power and ROF are consistent on an 11.1, and
operation in general is impeccable… why the hell
would I want to mess with that?
Ultimately what I’ve ended up with is an AEG that
in total has cost me about UK£400 to put together as
I wanted and one that will pass muster in any given
situation. Without doubt it’s a great skirmish tool, but
bring to the party.
This has indeed been a most pleasant and
rewarding airsoft journey, a real “mission success”
in every way, and I’ll conclude with the exact words
that I used to bring my initial review to a close as my
opinion has not changed:
“What you get with a ROSSI NEPTUNE SAS 10.5
is a great quality “119 inspired” AEG that could well
become a trusted companion for the majority of
your “airsoft life” if you look after it, and want the
proper carbine to work with your “UKSF” loadout!
I’ve used this AEG extensively now, and with care
and maintenance I believe it will probably outlast
me, although right now I’m still happy to roll out
with a “119” and continue to “fly the flag” given the
chance!”
Once again my sincere thanks go to Rafa and the
team at ROSSI EUROPE for supplying the NEPTUNE
SAS 10.5 test sample, and to Dave at Dave’s Custom
Airsoft for his help in creating the finished project
AEG; I hope that this will be the start of a long and
fruitful friendship between ROSSI, Dave’s Custom
Airsoft and Airsoft Action!
The “SAS” will now enter the Red Cell Test
Pool for longer term evaluation, but if you like the
look of what you see then please do check out
www.rossieurope.com for the very latest news
on their products, and keep an eye on www.
davescustomairsoft.co.uk for information on when
the “SAS” and all the accessories needed to create
your own “L119A2” are available in store. AA
“THE TRIGGER IS CRISP AND RESPONSIVE, EVERY AR MAG I OWN FEEDS THROUGH
IT, POWER AND ROF ARE CONSISTENT ON AN 11.1, AND OPERATION IN GENERAL IS
IMPECCABLE… WHY THE HELL WOULD I WANT TO MESS WITH THAT?”
