Kicking off with our headline review this month Bill gets some serious rangetime in with the KING ARMS TWS 9MM SBR, an AR GBBR that actually uses G-SERIES magazine many of you probably already have for your handguns... why are more people not talking about this breakthrough gas model... we have no idea, but we'll certainly say our piece! Following on from there we have a first look at the all-new SGR 556 from G&G, the just-released ICS CXP APE SE,and the newest BATTLE ARMS DEVELOPMENT SBR AEG (courtesy of Larri in his first-ever AEG review!) from our old mates at REDWOLF! Then there's a further FIFTEEN SMG models that are moving on through the RED CELL testing program, along with a recap on the ROSSI NEPTUNE SAS six-months in! In terms of kit Bill reflects back on the clothing and gear that he used on the FAST TACTICAL training course he attended recently, and the good folk of the AA LEGION "GO GREEN FTW!" And then... THEN... we have our annual report from the AA crew that attended the NATIONAL AIRSOFT FESTIVAL in the UK, a BIG game report from Portugal thanks to Miguel, and our power-duo of Stewbacca and Anny firstly get "Inside LCT" for an update, and secondly bring in the lowdown on the DING DING CUP Steel Challenge in Taiwan, an event that AIRSOFT ACTION was honoured to support! So, you want more gear, more guns, more news, and more airsoft? You'll find a bit of everything airsoft in this issue, so kick back and get stuck in!

GREEN GEAR
WE’RE ROLLING ON WITH OUR FOCUS ON DIFFERENT CAMO PATTERNS AND COLOURS FOR GEAR
THIS MONTH WITH A LOOK AT THE MANY FORMS OF GREEN THAT ARE OUT THERE, WHY THIS
IS SUCH AN IMPORTANT COLOUR FOR AIRSOFT, AND WHAT SPECIFIC BOTS OF KIT THAT THE AA
LEGION LIKE AND RECOMMEND! BILL STARTS THINGS ROLLING AS ALWAYS…
Everywhere we turn these days there seems to be
a comment about “going green”, and when it
comes to playing airsoft I couldn’t agree more,
as historically right up to “The Now” green has always
been fabulous option for clothing and gear!
Historically virtually every army in the world has
at one point or another “gone
green”, and if you’re looking
for easy “from the past”
inspiration then a
search for OD
Green or Olive
Drab will bring
you images of
uniforms worn
from the last 100 years or
so. Probably the best known
OD uniform for many will be
the US “Nam Fatigues” where
modern features really first started
to appear on combat uniforms;
through a number of iterations this
uniform finally became one of the “founding
fathers” of all the features we now expect to see in
our clothing, and the “combat pant” that we know
and love today owes much to the US design.
But times they do move on, and new slants on
both personal protection and functional use dictated
that what we wear could help to save us from injury,
and become even more easy to use with features
designed to help the user get the most from their
clothing. Knee and elbow pads were incorporated
into the fundamental design of clothing, mixed fabrics
were used in the same garment to take into account
our bio-mechanics, and of course gear became as
protective as it was lead-bearing.
Now of course we are spoiled for choice when
it comes to clothing and gear, with a huge market
supplied by countless manufacturers of kit both real
and replica, and one of the easiest colours to buy into
for total clothing/equipment solution is plain green.
After looking at the darling of BluFor last month in
the guise of Multicam, it has always struck me that
green has now become one of the defacto choices for
OPFOR use, especially when it’s mixed up with a bit of
camo! All the go faster kit is available in plain green,
whether it be OD, Ranger, Adaptive, or RAL7013,
the last one being my personal favourite. The choice
of manufacturers making “green gear” is huge, and
if you pick and pluck from multiple sources you can
really end up with a righteous loadout, and you’ll see
mine in my “CQB Kit” article this month.
But is it just me, or do others in the AA LEGION
feel the same about green kit that I do? This is where
things start to pare back a little, as obviously in any
group, a group no doubt just like you and your airsoft
friends too, we all have differing opinions, and make
different choices based on our different operational
zones around the world. I’m expecting to see some
unique opinions generated in this sequence of THE
CAGE, with different members of the crew almost
“championing” their kit of choice… it’s time to see
just how similar we all are, whilst at the same time
rejoicing in the individual differences that we all have!
TEAM TALK
So, without further ado I asked the members of the
AA LEGION a simple question; “Green, OD, Ranger,
Adaptive... what green kit do you use? Old or new,
why do you use it, and what is your absolute favourite
bit of plain green gear or clothing?”
Miguel: Oh boy! My turn! So as it’s well known
for The GHOST’s, we like to have our uniforms to
keep the team well organized in that aspect. We
have our rules and some guidelines, but one of the
main objectives of having different uniforms is mainly
to help us have slots in factions that might have
“HISTORICALLY VIRTUALLY EVERY ARMY IN THE WORLD HAS AT ONE POINT OR AN-
OTHER “GONE GREEN”, AND IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR EASY “FROM THE PAST” INSPI-
RATION THEN A SEARCH FOR OD GREEN OR OLIVE DRAB WILL BRING YOU IMAGES OF
UNIFORMS WORN FROM THE LAST 100 YEARS OR SO”
