t is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of
a beloved wife, mother, and friend, Zenobia, who
entered into eternal rest on September 7, 2023. She
was 72 years old.
Zenobia was born on March 3, 1951, in Somerville, SC to
Washington Kearns and Mary Francis Mingo. She spent
most of her life in Florence, SC where she forged lifelong
friendships and developed the strong sense of community
that would define her life.
In 1975, she married the love of her life, Lucius Levern
Perkins, and embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter,
and cherished memories. Their union was blessed with
two beautiful children: Skyler Joseph and Crystal Perkins.
Zenobia dedicated herself to nurturing and supporting her
family, providing them with unwavering love and guidance
throughout her life.
A woman of many talents, Zenobia excelled as a 45 year
career as Counselor. She was known for her dedication,
professionalism, and the way she inspired her colleagues
with her work ethic and compassion.
In addition to her professional achievements, Zenobia had
a deep love for her community. She was actively involved
in her church, Cumberland United Methodist, her sorority,
Zeta Phi Beta Incorporated, as well as the Claflin University’s
alumni Florence chapter, where she touched the lives
of many through her acts of kindness and generosity. She
had a special gift for making people feel valued and heard,
and her warm smile could brighten even the darkest days.
She is survived by her loving husband, Lucius Perkins,
her children, Skyler Joseph, and Crystal Perkins, and her
cherished grandchildren, Harper and Levi Joseph. She
also leaves behind a host of extended family members and
friends who will miss her dearly.
Her life was a testament to the values of love, compassion,
and selflessness, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness
and warmth that will live on in the hearts of all who knew
her.
As we say our final goodbyes to Zenobia, let us remember
her for the love and joy she brought into our lives and the
countless ways she made the world a better place. May her
soul rest in eternal peace.
CHANGE OF ADDRESS
Dear Family and Friends,
I have moved! I received a call
from God, the Chief Architect,
who informed me that my house
is ready and I could move in.
have been sending up my timber
in my own way, packing up a
little at a time, getting ready
to go, but there was some work
to finish, some final changes on
some timber that only the Chief
Carpenter, Jesus Christ Could
Help me do. I had to wait on him
to let me know we had finished.
Well, my new home is finished
and it is such a beautiful sight to
behold.
It is located in an exclusive estate
area and sits behind the Pearly
Gates, just off the celestial shore.
Of course, the streets are paved
with gold and every day is Sunday
here, I have been told.
I have lived several places before
my new home was prepared and
none of the others could compare.
There is peace, joy & happiness
here with more pain and cares
of the world to bear. No strife or
discounted, there is only sweet
serenity everywhere and I could
go on but I have to be fitted for
my wings. Let me give you my
