Introduction
Active IQ is delighted to have developed a suite
of qualifications that not only deliver
comprehensive theoretical and practical skills,
but allow learners to progress into employment
and Higher Education. Learners gain valuable,
industry recognised professional qualifications with
complete support from their tutor and peer group
plus work experience with local employers.
Active IQ Tech Level qualifications offer learners
a unique range of progression routes into
employment or further learning.

Tech Level qualifications
Working with key employers and stakeholders in the active leisure sector,
Active IQ has expanded its range of Tech Levels to offer learners more
opportunities for entry into employment or Higher Education.
Our Tech Levels are approved for teaching by the DfE, offering valuable
UCAS points on completion to facilitate entry into Higher Education. They
are also supported by the industry’s leading professional bodies: CIMSPA
(Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity)
and ukactive.
Designed with Further Education colleges in mind, these qualifications
combine theoretical learning, practical activities and work experience to
equip post-16 learners with the knowledge and skills they need to work in
the leisure and fitness industry.
Active IQ Tech Levels
Our DfE approved Tech Levels provide learners with a strong foundation
of knowledge, giving them the skills to:
• Understand anatomy, physiology and nutrition related to exercise
and fitness
• Understand the roles and career pathways available in active leisure
• Plan and instruct safe and effective exercise, sport and physical
activity sessions
• Deliver exceptional customer service
• Manage their personal and professional development

Learner Journey
Centre submits Programme
Notification Form (PNF) to their
allocated EV to inform them of the
planned programme (ideally 4 weeks
before the programme start date).
Centre delivers programme input
and carries out mock assessments
with learners (where available) and
completes formative IV sampling
activities.

Centre prints out the exam question
paper/s from Active IQ and invigilates
the exam.

eAssessment/s (if applicable) from
Active IQ (maximum of 10 days
& minimum of 5 days prior to the
scheduled assessment).
Once the exam is complete, centre
copies the learner answer sheets,
destroys the question papers and
returns the orignial learner answer
sheets to Active IQ for marking.

Learners and invigilators are set
up on Cirrus by Active IQ and log-in
details and pin codes are provided to
the centre to access the online exam
at the scheduled date/time.

Term time checkpoint 1, centres to
identify learners who intend to use
their qualification for progression to
higher education.
Term time checkpoint 2, centres to
confirm the information or amend
as appropriate. Once all assessments
are complete, centre carries out final
summative IV sampling of learner files
prior to 23rd June.
Centre orders multiple choice
theory exam paper/s, from Active IQ
(maximum of 10 days & minimum
of 5 days prior to the scheduled
assessment).
Active IQ marks the learner answer
sheets, results are sent to the centre
and uploaded onto Parnassus within
3 working days. Re-sit exams are
planned (if required) following the
above stages.
Once the exam is complete, learner
results are sent to the centre and
uploaded to Parnassus within 3
working days. Re-sit exams are
planned (if required) following the
above stages.
Centre claims learners for
certification via Parnassus prior to
the 23rd June. NB: Please note, this
is the latest that we recommend
claims to be made due to EV
availability and/or annual leave.
EV confirms to centre which learner
files are required for sampling. Centre
must submit the requested learner
evidence and associated IV sampling
forms to the nominated EV prior to
3rd July.

completes summative sample
and where all evidence is provided,
and this meets the qualification
requirements, certification will be
authorised prior to 21st July. NB:
Based upon normal EV availability.

Certificates
generated by Active IQ
and sent to centre contact for
presentation to learners by 31st July.
