Nominations for Board members are now open! Board member election time is always an exciting
time. New board members bring new ideas and direction for our group. Nomination forms will be
available at the September general meeting. A digital copy of the nomination form has also been
emailed to the membership. You can submit nomination forms until the September board meeting.
Turn them in at the September general meeting or by email to a member of the nominations committee.
Let's thank all the members who bring raffle prizes and purchase tickets. Not only is it a lot of fun, but
it is a major source of revenue for our club. I'm sure our membership cost would increase if we did not
have this source of income. Thanks again for your support of this activity.
There is an urban legend on how the “Corkscrew” at Laguna Seca Raceway was created when
construction was under way in 1957. An operator was at the top of the hill grading the area when lunch
time came up. He was hungry and avoiding rocks and trees drove the grader down the hill to have
lunch. They ended up putting the track along his route and the “Corkscrew” was born. I have no idea if
that is true, but it sounds reasonable to me.
