The Central Valley Corvette Club was
chartered in 1991 for the owners of the only
real AMERICAN sports car, the awesome
CORVETTE. It's a social organization with
activities that provide enjoyment for the true
Corvette lover.

Club activities include monthly meetings,
car shows, weekend Club activities,
overnighters, picnics, road rallies, summer
cruises, holiday get-to-gathers and more!
Eligibility for membership in CVC is defined
in Article III, section 1 of the bylaws in part
as follows: "Membership in Central Valley
Corvettes shall be open to all Corvette
owners who are sponsored by a member in
good standing. Additionally, a prospective
member must, within a three-month period,
attend two consecutive meetings, participate
in two club sanctioned
social activities, pay current membership
dues and initiation fees, and be approved by
two-thirds vote of membership present at a
general membership meeting by secret ballot.
Sponsors shall be responsible for advising
prospective member of results. All members
must submit proof of personal insurance in
accordance with California State Law upon
application for membership, and all members
must be a member of the association
providing club liability insurance for
CENTRAL VALLEY CORVETTES.
A prospective member who does not have a
sponsor will be provided one by the
membership committee. Non-members may
not participate in more than three meetings or
two sanctioned activities as per CVC Bylaws.
CVC membership dues are $60 plus an
initiation fee of $35. Membership entitles two
adult members at the same address voting
privileges at meetings (provided they are in
good standing) and membership rights.

Nominations for Board members are now open! Board member election time is always an exciting
time. New board members bring new ideas and direction for our group. Nomination forms will be
available at the September general meeting. A digital copy of the nomination form has also been
emailed to the membership. You can submit nomination forms until the September board meeting.
Turn them in at the September general meeting or by email to a member of the nominations committee.
Let's thank all the members who bring raffle prizes and purchase tickets. Not only is it a lot of fun, but
it is a major source of revenue for our club. I'm sure our membership cost would increase if we did not
have this source of income. Thanks again for your support of this activity.
There is an urban legend on how the “Corkscrew” at Laguna Seca Raceway was created when
construction was under way in 1957. An operator was at the top of the hill grading the area when lunch
time came up. He was hungry and avoiding rocks and trees drove the grader down the hill to have
lunch. They ended up putting the track along his route and the “Corkscrew” was born. I have no idea if
that is true, but it sounds reasonable to me.

AUGUST MEETING REPORT by JULIE SONS
It’s been super-hot but hopefully we will be cooling off soon. We had
a good turnout at the August meeting with 56 members in
attendance and 8 guests. On our next meeting day (September 18 th )
it is “National R-E-S-P-E-C-T day”. If you have a good memory or you
can recall this bit of useless information you might win a gift… but
only if you can sing her song!

AUGUST SUNSHINE & CLOUDS
Surgery/Health Update:
Tom and Marci were present at the meeting and wanted to thank everyone for the cards
and well wishes. He feels a bit better and is getting stronger.
Walt Spate is now at home but still receiving chemo and dialysis treatments. He is slowly
recovering and is even driving around the block in his car (not Corvette).
Frieda is on a wound vac system as they are traying to heal the wound from the inside out.
She was a bit better and even came to the August general meeting.
Kelley had surgery to repair an incidental nick on her throat and her voice is back to normal
again. At least she sounds better.
Happy News
The Garlock’s had officially ordered their 2024 Z06 but because the Z7 package (high fin tail)
is on constraint they pulled their order.
Vacations:
Charlie & Kim are now on a Mediterranean cruise and have shared their cruise pictures on
Facebook. He sent a message and said, although several got sea sick and “C” sick he hopes
everyone had a great time. They are heading to the British Isle in August 2024 and if anyone
is interested in coming there is a plenty of room for others. When they return home he
hopes their new Madera addition will be complete.
The Henenfent’s and Henderson’s are also not here tonight and in Iceland now on a cruise
as well enjoying the most of life. Our granddaughter is also in Iceland on a paleontology
grant with her class.
The King's and Percy's traveled to Seaside Sat. to attend the annual Concours de Lemon Car
Show. Also known as the Lemon Show. Vegas, Pintos, Pacers, Ugo’s were all in
attendance. We brought Mike's fully restored Corvair Monza Station Wagon. Weather was
cool and a welcome change from the valley heat. Due to it being Car Week in Monterey the
attendance was quite large. The best of show winner is covered with Silly String by any the
attendees.

We bought our first corvette in 1967. We have had 4 in our lifetime.

We met on a People’s church mission to Mexico 19 years ago.

CENTRAL VALLEY CORVETTES GENERAL MEETING -MINUTES of August 21, 2023
President Jeff Engelman called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M.
Secretary Jody Webb –Jeff asked the members to approve the minutes of July 17, 2023,
meeting, as printed in the Newsletter. A motion was made to accept the minutes by LeighAnne
Severance and was seconded by Chuck Laningham.
VP of Public Relations/Membership – Julie Sons reported that we have 58 members and 8
guests in attendance. Newly voted in members Leta and Dennis Ward were recognized with
their name badge presentation. New guests in attendance were Don & Jill Eskender, Frank
Phillips, Lisa Jordan Smith, Peter Postoyan, and Tamar and Armen Postoyan. August Birthdays
and Anniversaries were announced. Congratulations went out to our anniversary winners The
Garlock’s.
Treasurer’s Report-Jasmine Luna Aracelli DeCamp read the Club’s Treasury Report with an
accounting of the deposits made and checks written for expenses and our current balance. A
copy is attached. Stephanie Engelman sold raffle tickets for the meeting.
VP of Activities-Gary Linsner- reported on past runs. Upcoming events include a Meet and Eat
at Martha’s Mexican Food, the COF’s Reno/Tahoe event, “Another Damn Day Run”, the
Sensorio light experience in Paso Robles, a Beach Boys Concert at The Big Fresno fair, Sierra
Sky Park Car Show, Madera Speedway event in September, Sanger High Homecoming,
Halloween Party, Christmas High Tea, and the CVC Christmas Party. See our activities page for
further information.
Newsletter Update – Newsletters articles, flyers and pictures need to be sent to Charlie
Fosnaugh by August 25, 2023. So that there could be a Newsletter for September, but that it
may be late as Charlie is out of town.
Old Business – No old business was addressed.
New Business- Mike Lebda discussed Nominations for Board members and the election
process. He stated the tonight’s sign in sheet reflected who is eligible to vote.
Sunshine News – Julie reported on the Sunshine and Clouds of the Members, a full report will
be in the newsletter.
Sergeant-of-Arms – Chuck Laningham- $2 in badge fines were collected.

Next General Meeting – Yosemite Falls Café, Granite Park, Monday, September 18, 2023, at
6:30 PM
Next Board Meeting – The next board meeting will be 11:00 AM, August 29, 2023, at the
home of Gary Linsner. Please let President Jeff Engelman know if you plan on attending.
Meeting Adjourned – Jeff called for meeting to be adjourned, Tom Piercy made the motion,
and the motion was seconded by Janet King. The meeting was adjourned at 7:07 P.M.

The Raffle for the June General Meeting was conducted by Craig Derringer, Larry King, and
Chuck Laningham.

to thank everyone for their continued support for the raffle and note that it is a large source of
our income and without the donations we could not have many of the events that we plan

Formed in 1991, Central Valley Corvettes (CVC) is is 30 years strong and,
in our opinion, one of the best Corvette Clubs around. We are a not for
profit organization, comprised of numerous Corvette Enthusiasts (92
Individual Members) from around the Central Valley. CVC is a family,
always striving to improve the organization through new and innovative
ideas frequently brought on by new members.
The officers of this organization are very important to the club and
consist of a president, a vice-president/activities coordinator, a vicepresident/public
relations and membership, a secretary, and a
treasurer. All shall be valid regular members of CENTRAL VALLEY
CORVETTES. The president must have at least one-year prior service as
an officer of CENTRAL VALLEY CORVETTES or at least one year prior
service on a qualifying non-profit board, corporate board, or a member
of Central Valley Corvettes for two years in good standing as
determined by Central Valley Corvettes
Duties Include:
PRESIDENT. The president shall be the chief executive officer and
chairman of the board. The president shall preside at all general,
annual and special meetings of the members and at the meetings of
the Board of Directors. In general, the president shall perform all duties
incident to the office of president and other duties as may be
prescribed by the Board of Directors from time to time.

VICE PRESIDENT OF ACTIVITIES: In the absence of the president
or in the event of inability or refusal to act, the vice
president/activities coordinator shall perform the duties of the
president, and when so acting, shall have all the powers of and be
subject to all the restrictions upon the president. The vice
president/activities coordinator shall coordinate all events of the
club, and appoint an event chairman for each event. The vice
president shall perform such other duties as from time to time
may be assigned by the president and/or the Board of directors.
VICE PRESIDENT OF PUBLIC RELATION/MEMBERSHIP: The vice
president/public relations and membership shall provide for
hospitality at general meetings as well as report on members
birthdays and anniversaries at monthly general meetings.
Incumbent is responsible for tracking meeting attendance of
members and prospective members and will provide a listing of
members eligible to vote for club officers at the annual meeting.
Membership responsibilities include supervision of sponsorship of
prospective members to ensure all membership qualification
requirements are met and that required forms and payments have
been submitted. Upon acceptance as club members, the
incumbent will award name badges and other club related
materials to the new members. Other duties related to public
relations or membership may be assigned by the president and/or
Board of Directors.
SECRETARY: The secretary shall record the minutes of the
meetings of the members and of the Board of Directors; be
custodian of the non-financial records, send written notices of
time and place of all annual and special meetings, keep a register
of the mailing addresses of each member as supplied by the
member, coordinate activities of the Membership Committee;

and in general, perform all the duties incident to the office of
secretary and such other duties as from time to time may be
assigned by the president and/or Board of Directors.
TREASURER: The treasurer shall have charge of and be
responsible for all funds of the organization; provide the Board
of Directors with a written monthly report of the financial
standing of the organization; receive and give receipts for
monies due; deposit all such monies in the name of the
organization in the proper depositories; make proper checks for
the statements of all transactions; co-sign checks with the
president, or in the absence of the president, the vicepresident/activities
coordinator; and in general, perform all the
duties incident to the office of treasurer and such other duties as
from time to time may be assigned by the president and/or
Board of Directors.
Our expectation is that you would consider and accept a
nomination if you are elected by a member in good standing to
run for a position. Most of the current board members would
love to see new members take over their positions on the board
so our club could experience fresh new ideas. If you are
interested but hesitant or would like to know more about a
position please ask us. It is possible to be mentored by the
outgoing board member.

As we exit the summer months and move into the cooler weather,
our events schedule gets warmer. While November remains a little
sparse, September and October will be busy.
A procedural reminder, if you want to organize a run please let me
know so that I can check and make sure it does not conflict with
other events that are being planned.
