“Capturing The Enchantment of the Forest,
Barbara Brown satisfies our longing to feel
connected with nature. She brings to life
the magic of the forest and all the splendor
it beholds. Her depiction of trees is always
enhanced by a touch of other-worldliness,
symbolism and geometry.”
September Spawning Season
September brings you the chance to
watch thousands of spawning salmon
head up the waterways to release
their eggs into the water.
The Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park is
one of the top spots to experience
the spawning mayhem. Meadow
Creek spawning channels are also
very active and produce between
10–15 million fry annually with mean
egg-to-fry survival rate of 45%. There
are fisheries staff on site during the
spawning season which is August
through October.
Spawners
At about
four years,
kokanee
salmon mature
and undergo dramatic changes
in preparation for spawning. The male
turns bright red and develops a slightly
humped back and elongated jaw.
Females turn a darker shade of red.
Eggs
When spawners
arrive at Meadow
Creek, females
use their
tails to dig nests in the gravel. They
then release as many as 1000 eggs for
the males to fertilize. The female again
uses her tail to cover the eggs with
gravel. Once all the eggs are laid, the
adults die.
Alevins
Kokanee eggs
remain in the
gravel of the
spawning stream, hatching out in
January or February as “alevins” nour
ished by egg sacs attached to their
bodies, but still remaining in the
gravel.
Born to Create?
It is never too late!
- Karma Halleran
Barbara Brown is an artist with whom I
share an affinity to trees.
My mother-In-Law often would ask
me what I would like for my
birthday...
“A tree” I would say.
“But you are surrounded by trees”
she would say...
“But I don’t have that one...”
I would say.
I thought it would be interesting to
speak with Barbara Brown so we could
learn a bit of her story.
syl·van
Noun
: one that frequents
groves or woods
adjective
: of the forest
D65: Are you a Kootenay Kid?
And if not, where did you grow up?
BB: I was born in Saskatchewan, and my
family moved to Ottawa when I was 9.
I never did feel that Ontario was home
though. We did a lot of family road trips
all across Canada, and on our first one
to BC I fell in love and couldn’t wait until I
was grown up enough to move west.
D65: How did you end up in the
Slocan Valley?
BB: At 17 I left home, headed to Vancouver
Island, and was based mainly there
for the next 13 years. I went to university
in Victoria, getting a degree in Geography
and then worked for the BC Government
in natural resource management/
land-use planning. In the early 80s when
the bottom fell out of the BC economy
and the civil service was cut in half, my
job was one of those cuts.
D65: When did you become an artist?
Did you study art formally?
BB: I hadn’t been really happy with the
gov’t work anyway and I decided to go
back to school to pursue my real
passion: art.
After 2 wonderful years of Fine Art
schooling at Malaspina College in
Nanaimo I knew I wanted to make a go
of it as an artist. I felt I needed to move to
Toronto for a few years to learn the ropes
of the commercial art world. There I took
night courses in studio management and
graphic design/paste-up, while doing
illustration work during the day.
3 years later, in 1988, I took a trip back
West to Vancouver Island for my sister’s
wedding. A good friend had recently
moved to Nelson, so I included a visit
there – I had never been. She showed me
‘round the West Kootenays, taking me on
the loop through Kaslo, New Denver and
the Slocan Valley. The night I returned to
Toronto I told my newly found husband
— who was a city boy born and bred
but with a real longing for country living
— all about Nelson and the Valley; and
immediately upon awakening the next
morning he sat up and said “let’s move to
the Kootenays”! I had been feeling like a
fish out of water in the big Ontario metropolis
too, so, within 3 months of that
decision we arrived in the West Kootenays,
December 1st 1988. We found a
place to rent on the Kosiancic farm in the
Slocan Valley, where we lived for 7 years
until we bought an adjacent acreage of
raw land from them, and proceeded to
develop this property where we still are
now 28 years later.
Of course the challenge moving here was
how to make a living as a self-employed
“The Nelson and other area maps paid the bills for years” BB
artist. I tried everything I knew how to
do... illustration, graphic design and fine
art, with some success, but not quite
enough to comfortably keep body and
soul together. It was through work with
the Nelson Chamber of Commerce and
the Economic Development Commission
that I learned how badly the area needed
good maps, for tourists and residents
alike. I’ve always loved maps, and had
taken cartography as part of my geography
degree. I figured that if you combine a
geographer and an artist you’re going to
get a good looking map! I took it on, first
creating the Nelson & Area Map & Guide,
then the West Kootenay Vacation Guide
Map and finally the Castlegar Map which
are still an integral part of today’s template
which features Nelson & Castlegar
and the West Kootenay along with little
maps of the smaller communities in the
area. Producing these annually became
a lovely little home-based business that
kept me going for 20 years! But, it seemed
to take up all my creative energy, and I
had nothing left to pursue my artwork. It
was in my early fifties there came a year
of many deaths, close in to me, including
my mother. And then the next year I was
diagnosed with lung cancer. Immersed in
grieving my losses, while also facing my
own mortality, I awakened to a new level
of awareness of what this life is all about;
it’s about embracing life as the
wondrous gift it is, as fully as we
can; it’s about finding what gives
you deep joy and sinking yourself
into those depths.
I heard the calling to “be an artist” too
strongly to ignore. So I sold the map
business. I felt like I was jumping off a
cliff…and I was going to
need to learn how to fly. I
began reinventing myself as
an artist, exploring just what
it might be that I was being
called to create. It was an
exciting time.
D65: What has been your
favourite project so far?
BB: I have always been drawn
to nature, to trees, to the forests...
and the idea for
SYLVAN REFLECTIONS: Wanderings,
Paintings & Ponderings From the Forest
developed gradually from the daily
walks I take on my wooded land. It has
evolved into an all-consuming project.
Volume I came out in 2016, featuring
16 original paintings, poems
and observations. I also produced a 20
minute film with filmmaker Isaac Carter
and composer Noel Fudge of New
Denver to compliment the book two years
later. I am now working on Volume II, and
a second film — all about embracing the
beauty of nature, bringing it into our daily
lives. I have been thanked by readers for
‘bringing the forest to them’ as not everyone
has access to spend so much time in
the woods. Succeeding at this goal has
been very fulfilling, and I hope
to share this further still.
D65: What has been your
hardest project to create?
BB: I don’t know which
one painting has been the
hardest. I find the idea for a
painting comes fairly easily...
the subject often chosen
during my daily walk. I study
it, sit in the forest with it, contemplate
it until I can see the
finished painting clearly in my
mind. From this point every single
painting takes a massive effort
to begin and to complete.
I do not get transported into
the creative process as some
do – I don’t lose track of time – instead I
really have to work hard at it. At the end
when it actually looks the way I had
envisioned... I am so delighted and thrilled
with what has happened, despite my psychological
resistance :)
D65: Who has been your greatest
inspiration?
BB: When asked this question what
immediately comes to mind is the Saskatchewan
Museum of Natural History in
Regina, and myself as a very little girl gazing
in awe at the exhibits depicting Saskatchewan
wildlife in their natural habitats.
The artist was Fred. W. Lahrman. My
dad knew him, so I got to meet him, and I
dreamt of being just like him and creating
such wonders when I grew up.
As an adult I have been inspired by the
likes of Bev Dolittle with her wonderful
‘camouflage art’ and its hidden meanings;
and by Robert Bateman’s immense
talent at portraying the natural world.
And then of course there is Emily Carr
and her forests!
D65: Is art a calling that you can
ever see yourself retiring from?
BB: It’s hard to really figure out just what
‘retirement’ means, when you’re an artist
I think. Since turning 65 and receiving
pensions the pressure to make a living
has eased off, and I feel freed up not
having to worry about that — but I’m
nowhere near ready to stop painting and
writing and sharing.
Volume 1- Sylvan Reflections
D65: Where do you see yourself in
10 years?
BB: In 10 years I will be pushing 80. I
do imagine I will still be quite hale and
hearty and able to stay here in my home
in the Valley; and I can’t imagine not
keeping on with creative projects and undertakings.
Whatever will be, will be; and
as long as there’s a tree or two nearby I
think I’ll be alright.
D65: Meeting Barbara and spending
time with her was really lovely. Her
voice and demeanour are as calm and
soothing as a summer forest.
Clean
Your Chimney
Regularly
Regular chimney cleaning might
seem like a mundane chore, but its
importance cannot be overstated.
Beyond just ensuring the aesthetic
appeal of your home, a clean chimney
offers numerous practical benefits.
Fire Hazard Prevention: Creosote,
a highly flammable substance, accumulates
in chimneys over time. A
dirty chimney increases the risk of a
chimney fire, putting your property
and loved ones in danger.
Efficient Heating: A clean chimney
promotes proper airflow, allowing
your fireplace or wood-burning stove
to function efficiently. Restricted airflow
due to debris buildup can lead
to inefficient burning and decreased
heat output.
Health and Safety: Chimney blockages
can lead to harmful gases like
carbon monoxide seeping into your
living spaces. Regular cleaning ensures
proper ventilation and protects
your family’s health.
Longevity of Chimney: Neglecting
chimney maintenance can lead to
structural damage over time. Regular
cleaning helps identify and address
issues early, avoiding costly repairs
down the line.
Environmental Impact: Incomplete
combustion due to a dirty chimney
releases more pollutants into the environment.
Keeping your chimney
clean reduces your carbon footprint.
In conclusion, routine chimney
cleaning enhances safety, efficiency,
and longevity. It’s an investment
in both your home’s well-being and
your family’s health.
Creating Your Own CBD Oil - Part 2
In our previous article,
we explored
the crucial first
step in creating
your personalized
cannabis oil:
Terese Bowors
decarbing your
cannabis flower to activate its cannabinoids.
However, it’s important to
note that decarbing is not mandatory
if you desire the potent properties of
THCA or CBDA. If you opt out of decarbing,
you can jump right into the
subsequent steps of the cannabis oil
making process.
Here’s some interesting information:
The process we are discussing can be
used to make various types of cannabis
oils, such as CBD oil, THC oil, CBG
oil, CBDA oil and THCA oil. Now, let’s
delve into the options for base oils.
The majority of CBD oils available in
the market are crafted with Medium-chain
triglycerides (MCT) derived
from coconut or palm. MCT oil is preferred
because it is easily absorbed by
the body, enhancing the bioavailability
of CBD. Additionally, it has a neutral
flavor and can extend the stability and
shelf life of CBD oil. However, if someone
experiences digestive issues with
MCT, they have the option to customize
their base oil by choosing olive oil,
avocado oil, or grapeseed oil to suit
their preferences.
Materials
1 cup MCT oil (or olive oil, avocado oil,
grapeseed oil)
14g decarboxylated cannabis
Strainer, cheesecloth, nut milk bag or
a clean tea towel
Mason jar
Crockpot or
double boiler
*For different
potencies,
adjust the
amount of cannabis
you add
to a specific quantity of fat, allowing
you to scale this recipe up or down as
desired.
Preparation
• Fill a mason jar with cooled, decarbed
Cannabis flower, add your oil
to the mason jar. Seal the mason jar.
• Fill your crockpot or double boiler
with water to cover the oil/cannabis
mixture, place the jar in your crockpot
or double boiler. Set the temperature
to low.
• Allow the mixture to heat for 2-4
hours, stirring or shaking occasionally.
• Line a container with cheesecloth,
nut milk bag or use a strainer. Carefully
pour the oil in the straining device,
use a rubber spatula to get every
drop.
• Gather up the cheesecloth and
squeeze the heck out of it. You
may get some plant debris coming
through, for a cleaner product, use a
strainer and let gravity do the work.
• Fat-based infusions should be stored
in the fridge in glass containers (mason
jars are best). They will last 6-12
months or more!
• Keep a smaller glass, dark dropper
bottle on the counter for easy access
and refill from the bigger jar in the
fridge.
As you embark on your journey with
the oil, it’s important to remember
the mantra: start low and go slow.
Begin with a modest dose of approximately
0.25ml to gauge the potency
of your creation. If you don’t notice
any effects initially, gradually increase
the dosage every few days until you
start experiencing the desired healing
benefits. Patience and gradual adjustments
will guide you towards finding
the perfect dosage for your well-being.
Looking to add a touch of creativity?
Consider infusing additional herbs or
spices into your base oil before incorporating
cannabis. From refreshing
peppermint to calming lavender, invigorating
turmeric to aromatic cinnamon,
and even soothing valerian
root - the possibilities for creating a
blissful blend are boundless!
Senior-Preneurship
~ Bruce LaCroix
MAXIMIZING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE & FINDING YOUR NICHE
With over 35 years
of working in tourism
and hospitality
in my younger days, when I decided
to start something new I went back to
what I learned during those years. From
room cleaner to assistant manager,
recreation director to sommelier, ski
patroller to tour guide, along with over
60 trips outside Canada, I felt that I had
a very extensive knowledge of what
made for a great guest experience.
So Wendy and I started a business in
which we critique resorts on-site in the
Caribbean during the winter. (No, we
do not need any help, but thank you for
offering )
Doing market research for this idea, we
could not find any business which specialized
just in resort secret shopping,
nor any which also targeted the Caribbean.
Also, by joining the Caribbean
Hotel and Tourism Association we discovered
a need for this type of service.
So, how does all of this relate to you, the
current or potential senior-preneur? It’s
about a) finding a niche in which you
can specialize, b) looking back at your
long life and seeing which skills and
interests you can tap into for your new
venture and c) doing something you
love. As I love to travel and get paid for
it, tapping into what I learned over the
years just seemed like a natural fit.
In my entrepreneurship workshops, we
discuss the pros and
cons of both starting
something completely
new to the
participant, or polishing
established
skills and turning
them into a business.
Speaking of entrepreneurship
workshops, I will
be offering
WK Fishing
One of the most remarkable aspects
of fishing in West Kootenay is the diversity
of fishing opportunities it offers.
From fly fishing in crystal-clear
streams to trolling for trophy trout in
expansive lakes, there’s something for
everyone here. The region boasts an
abundance of species, including rainbow
trout, bull trout, kokanee salmon,
and even the elusive Gerrard rainbow
trout, known for their impressive size
and fighting spirit.
As anglers, it’s crucial that we respect
the environment and contribute to
the conservation of these precious
natural resources. West Kootenay takes
its commitment to responsible fishing
seriously, with regulations in place
to protect fish populations and their
habitats. Anglers are encouraged to
practice catch-and-release techniques,
ensuring that these waters remain
abundant for generations to come.
is a seamless experience, thanks
to the range of accommodations and
outfitters available. Whether you’re
Back to
School for
Seniors!
Going back to school as a senior citizen
is a great idea due to increased
free time and a passion to learn. Did
you know that adults who go back
to school experience an increased
life span?
The life expectancy
for men who get a
bachelor’s degree is
over 12 years higher,
while women’s is
over ten times higher.
Even better, they
experience a positive impact on
their physical and mental health.
Going back to school can be one of
the most rewarding times in a person’s
life. Whether you are looking
for new opportunities or wish to
obtain additional knowledge, there
are many reasons why someone
might want to consider going back
to school at any age.
The benefits of doing so as a senior
citizen are even more. Fall is the perfect
time for seniors who love lifelong
learning to try something new.
Socialization and Satisfaction
One of the most rewarding aspects
of going back to school is that every
day presents a new opportunity to
socialize with students and faculty.
Seniors can bond with youthful people
while at the same time receiving
a new network of friends, classmates,
and acquaintances. This new
experience provides them with a
sense of belonging and a new group
of people they can call on for help
throughout the years ahead.
Now, you may choose to study
something that piqued your interest
or do so because it’s a requirement
for a job. Regardless, going back to
school benefits you as a senior citizen
by giving you a sense of satisfaction
and fulfillment. You feel as
though you’re not only interested
in learning more about the world
around you but also capable of doing
so.
You Gain New Hobbies
and Learn New Skills
Going back to school is
a great way to explore
something new for seniors
who have spent
decades learning about a particular
topic but have since retired or
stopped working. It could be anything
from art classes to science
courses, depending on what you
enjoy doing.
Whether it’s writing, painting, or
cooking, there are many schools out
there willing to provide seniors with
the opportunity to explore these
hobbies. At the same time, you also
learn vital lessons and get to have
fun along the way. Apart from gaining
new hobbies, you also gain new
skills.
Some seniors may find themselves in
a financial situation where they need
to find a way to earn more money.
Going back to school opens them to
learn new skills to help them obtain
a job with better pay. You could also
open your own business that allows
you to work and stay engaged in
your retirement years.
Going back to school has become
a popular option among senior citizens
everywhere. If you’re looking
for ways to get involved in your
community while also staying sharp,
attending classes online or at your
local college or university is the right
choice for you. You stand to gain so
much when you start school again.
Grampa’s Joke
My Favourite Animal
Our teacher asked what my favourite
animal was, and I said, “Fried
chicken.”
She said I wasn’t funny, but she
couldn’t have been right, because
everyone else laughed.
My parents told me to always tell
the truth.
I did. Fried chicken is my favourite
animal. I told my dad what happened,
and he said my teacher was
probably a member of PETA. He
said they love animals very much.
I do, too. Especially chicken, pork
and beef. Anyway, my teacher
sent me to the principal’s office. I
told him what happened, and he
laughed, too. Then he told me not
to do it again.
The next day in class my teacher
asked me what my favourite live animal
was. I told her it was chicken.
She asked me why, so I told her it
was because you could make them
into fried chicken.
She sent me back to the principal’s
office. He laughed, and told me not
to do it again.
I don’t understand. My parents
taught me to be honest, but my
teacher doesn’t like it when I am.
Today, my teacher asked me to tell
her what famous person I admired
most. I told her, “Colonel Sanders.”
Guess where I am now...
Pathways to PEMF
The term PEMF means- Pulsed ElectroMagnetic
Fields and describes in modern physics
the specific application of unique pulsed,
electromagnetic frequencies and intensities
for the health and wellness benefit of human
beings and animals.
PEMF is considered the 5th element of health
and is as essential to human life as air, food,
water and sunlight. We are meant to be in
harmony with the earth-based frequencies
within which our cells can be fully energized
and heal. Due to the environmental pollutants
from electro smog, concrete buildings
and pavements, most people do not have
sufficient exposure earth-based natural frequencies,
which results illnesses and diseases.
Receiving adequate PEMF helps our body
restore balance and activate the self healing
mechanism to improve health, speeds
up healing, prevents chronic illnesses and
protect us against the harmful wireless and
electro smog surrounding us.
PEMF helps to improve overall health and reduce
a verity of disease conditions, including,
but not limited to the following:
Chronic Pain
Non-Healing Wounds.
Bone Degeneration
Insomnia
Fuzzy brain
Arthritis
Quinoa
Referred to as the “mother of all
grains”, quinoa (pronounced ‘KEENwah’)
was an important crop for the
Inca Empire. It’s quite new to the
western world but has been eaten
for thousands of years in South
America.
Quinoa wears two hats. Although
prepared and eaten as a grain, quinoa
is actually a flowering plant
grown primarily for its edible seeds.
The quinoa seed is a complete protein,
meaning it contains all 9 essential
amino acids necessary for good
health. Yes, quinoa counts as both a
whole grain and a plant-based protein.
Did I forget to mention that quinoa
can be found in sprouted form?
That’s important because when a
grain or seed is sprouted, the vitamins
and minerals become better
absorbed by the body. They are also
easier to digest and break down for
those with diabetes.
More good news about quinoa—it
is naturally gluten-free and
can therefore be enjoyed safely by
those with celiac disease or gluten
intolerance. Celiac disease is an autoimmune
disease where the ingestion
of gluten leads to damage in
the small intestine. Gluten is a protein
found in wheat, rye, and barley
that acts as a glue to hold food together.
It’s responsible for the soft,
chewy texture of bread.
The many forms of quinoa:
Quinoa comes in four forms: white,
red, black, and tricolor.
White quinoa has a light and fluffy
texture with a mild flavor. It offers
the most versatility and can be used
as a rice replacement, hot cereal,
base for salads, and even stirred into
baked goods!
Red and black quinoa are very similar,
both have a crunchy texture and
nuttier flavor compared to white
quinoa. Although they don’t work
well in sweet applications, red and
black quinoa are wonderful in grain
bowls, salads, and as a stand-in for
rice.
You will also find quinoa in tricolor
form—a lovely combination of
white, red, and black quinoa.
Food Facts
Health benefits of quinoa
Quinoa contains plant antioxidants
called flavonoids, which may have
anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-cancer
and anti-depressant effects.
Sprouted quinoa has even
higher levels of antioxidants, so you’ll
want to choose it when possible.
How to Cook Quinoa
Use 1 3/4 cups water for every cup
of quinoa. Any more water, and the
quinoa gets mushy. Any less, and it’s
too dry.
Once you’ve measured both, follow
these easy steps:
Combine the quinoa and water in
a medium pot. Bring to a boil, cover,
and reduce the heat. Simmer for
15 minutes. Remove the pot from
the heat and let it sit, covered, for 10
minutes more. Then, remove the lid
and fluff with a fork!
I
My Downsize Adventure
can be an overwhelming experience
so take it a little at a time. Start with a
jewellery box, or pantry shelf or even
a sock drawer. This will get you in the
mood and not overwhelm you. Take
my advice, it can be addictive after a
short while.
Musical Post-op by Barbara Olson
© ClassiCanadian Crosswords
Recently my husband and I downsized
from our four bedroom, 3 storey
home in Nelson to a small 3 bedroom
modular home in a 55+ community
close to Balfour. Little did we know at
the time, just how much work was involved
in this. We had 32 years full of
memories, old books, furniture, dishes,
furniture, ski equipment, a mink
stole, and two wedding dresses.
There are so many chapters to this adventure,
including the pros and cons
of getting your house ready to sell,
and the choices between selling your
house, renting it, renting for the long
term, and buying a condo. The part
that consumed me the most was the
purging of my possessions.
My house was filled with things including
several bookshelves of books,
and they had to go. Then my closets
had to be sorted out into piles of: keep,
recycle and garbage. The next was
the basement where I kept a variety
of boxes of photos, resaleable items
for the local garage sale, and items
to give to my family. I quickly realized
that selling
them on Facebook
was not an easy task, especially beds,
older style furniture and china. Local
charities such as
your local church
will take a huge variety
of items, if they
are having a garage
sale. Used clothing
and book stores will
take a number of
items, but you need
to call first to see if
they are taking donations.
I ended up
giving a number of
furniture items to
my two kids, and
some of my items
unfortunately ended
up in the dump.
If you are looking to
declutter, or downsize
in the next
couple of years,
start now to organize
your items and
where they will go. It
Sudoku
Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid,
broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve
a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill
each row, column and box. Each number
can appear only once in each row, column
and box. You can figure out the order in
which the numbers will appear by using the
numeric clues already provided in the boxes.
The more numbers you name, the easier it
gets to solve!
September Horoscope
ARIES – Mar 21/Apr 20
1st Week: Get outside and
enjoy as much fresh air
and exercise as possible
this week, Aries. A weekly
outdoors excursion can
recharge the batteries and
provide some time to reflect.
2nd Week: Aries, a goal you
have been working toward
is nearing completion. Take
time to reflect on all it took
to make the goal come to
fruition.
3rd Week: Your compassion
takes you many places, Aries.
This week you may be compelled
to reach out and do
more volunteer work for a
nonprofit that you hold dear.
4th Week: There is nothing
wrong with a bit of self-indulgence,
Aries. But you do
not want to go overboard
with your treats and other
must-haves. Moderation is
key in everything.
TAURUS – Apr 21/May 21
1st Week: Taurus, it’s not
possible to have everyone
like you all of the time. Emotionally
it can be difficult to
accept that not everyone
agrees with your point of
view. Be who you are.
2nd Week: Taurus, try to get
away on a vacation, even
if it’s just a weekend jaunt.
There’s never been a time
you could use a little getaway
more than right now.
Push this into the priority
zone.
3rd Week: Taurus, your
friends need you to be
steady this week, and that’s
just what you will give them.
You like being in a leadership
role and someone others
can depend on.
4th Week: You have a
no-nonsense bearing that
immediately has people
drawing close to you and
trusting you, Taurus. Put that
out in full force as you try to
win favour on the job this
week.
GEMINI – May 22/Jun 21
1st Week: Someone from
your past might come back
into your life, Gemini. Keep
a lookout for someone who
seems familiar, as it can be a
way to reminisce for a bit.
2nd Week: Gemini, it is time
to get more movement into
your daily activities. Don’t
you want to be in the best
possible health? Incorporate
more exercise gradually with
activities you enjoy.
3rd Week: Right now your
to-do list is very small, which
means you have loads of
free time for recreational activities
if you choose. Otherwise,
you can simply bask in
having nothing to do.
4th Week: Gemini, don’t let
your quest for excitement
pull you in too many different
directions right now. You
need to stick to one plan for
a certain amount of time
and see things through.
CANCER – Jun 22/Jul 22
1st Week: Cancer, start conversations
with all of the
people you meet so you
can learn about different
backgrounds or cultures.
You might learn something
you didn’t know or try a new
food.
2nd Week: A partnership
will get even stronger this
week, Cancer. It could be a
relationship with a spouse
or even a business partner.
You’ll benefit from this added
strength.
3rd Week: Cancer, you are
in a frame of mind to learn
some new skills, and this is
just the week to get started.
Begin slowly with a hobby
or something that interests
you.
4th Week: Everyone wants
a piece of you right now,
Cancer. It is equally flattering
and exhausting. You’ll
have to be choosy regarding
where and with whom to
dedicate your time.
LEO – Jul 23/Aug 23
1st Week: Leo, try to work
the room when you are
thrust into a social situation.
You need to be a diplomat
or politician if you want to
be in good standing with as
many people as possible.
2nd Week: You may take immense
pleasure from doing
mundane chores this week,
Leo. Washing windows, organizing
the garage, sorting
through unused clothes,
these are all things to keep
busy.
3rd Week: Leo, it can be
challenging to remain lowkey
when others are excited
all around you, but you must
be serious with this new
venture you are considering.
There will be time to celebrate
later.
4th Week: Listen to the
messages swirling around
in your head right now, Leo.
Your intuition has been on
target so there is no reason
to doubt yourself now. Keep
moving forward.
VIRGO – Aug 24/Sept 22
1st Week: You know who
you can trust, Virgo. Stay
close to those people for the
time being. Some difficulties
with family members will
arise and you may need to
pick sides.
2nd Week: Your chart lands
you in the sector of romance,
creativity and passion this
week, Virgo. Embrace all of
these elements in your life
to the fullest.
3rd Week: Virgo, while others
may want the spotlight,
you are content to work
behind the scenes for the
time being. There is nothing
wrong with being a supporting
character.
4th Week: Virgo, is a particular
relationship getting too
intense for you? It might be
the time to ease up a bit and
take a step back. Distance
could provide the clarity you
need.
These are the weekly Horoscopes for the month of
September Week number 1, 2, 3 and 4 this month!
LIBRA – Sept 23/Oct 23
1st Week: Libra, after a whirlwind
adventure, you may be
glad to be back home. Vacations
are nice and relaxing,
but soon enough you may
crave the familiarity of your
own space.
2nd Week: Libra, even
though you have been a
veritable social butterfly
lately, you may need to rest
your wings for a little bit this
week. Slow down and stick
closer to home.
3rd Week: Take a few moments
this week to go over
spending, as you may determine
that you have to reel
in your budget a little more
than you had expected, Libra.
4th Week: Libra, you do not
need to struggle if you simply
call in a few favors. Reach
out to your network of people
and figure out how you
can make things work.
SCORPIO – Oct 24/Nov 22
1st Week: Scorpio, you have
a calm energy around you
this week. You can rest assured
that the people you
are dealing with have everything
handled. They take
care of business.
2nd Week: Scorpio, people
might be quick to call you
mysterious this week, but
you just might be an open
book. Share as much as you
desire with others.
3rd Week: Scorpio, family
responsibilities may continue
to weigh you down a bit
more than usual, leaving little
time for romance. Try to
make time when you can.
4th Week: Scorpio, do not
chase people down, simply
wait for them to come to
you with your natural magnetism.
You don’t want to
exert energy this week unnecessarily.
SAGITTARIUS – Nov 23/Dec 21
1st Week: There is a great
opportunity knocking at
your door, Sagittarius, so
why not seize it? New things
can be scary, but you have
to dive in right now.
2nd Week: Sagittarius, define
what you consider valuable,
then do everything in
your means to pursue those
things. Setting goals can
help.
3rd Week: You are interested
in changing your living
space in the days to come,
and redecorating is at the
top of the list, Sagittarius.
Find out ways you can do it
without breaking the bank.
4th Week: Sagittarius, rather
than showing people all of
your cards, hold some information
close to the vest
and maintain a bit of mystery.
Others likely will be intrigued.
CAPRICORN – Dec 22/Jan 20
1st Week: Take stock of
where you want to go in
the future and start putting
those plans together, Capricorn.
You don’t have to figure
everything out, but try
to map out a rough outline.
2nd Week: Capricorn, get
ready to take center stage
these next few days and
bask in the limelight. Everyone
seemingly wants to
get a piece of you and you
might be pulled in different
directions.
3rd Week: Capricorn, you
may be holding back on
conversations for fear of not
getting the answers you
desire. Everything won’t go
your way, but failing to act is
not the way to go.
4th Week: Capricorn, you
may find that things are very
profitable for you this week.
If you are an entrepreneur,
business will be solid. If you
perhaps sell on the side,
money will flow.
AQUARIUS – Jan 21/Feb 18
1st Week: You can quickly
see when someone is putting
on an act, Aquarius.
They may say one thing but
mean another. This duplicity
can be off-putting, but try to
get along with others right
now.
2nd Week: You are coming
off of a season of easy living,
Aquarius. But don’t expect
the apple cart to be upset.
The times of smooth sailing
have only just begun.
3rd Week: You are ready to
make some solid choices
for your family and future,
Aquarius. They may not align
with what others feel is necessary,
but stay true to your
beliefs and needs.
4th Week: Aquarius, for
quite some time you have
been focusing on everyone
but yourself. You have to
change your ways if you can
get the rest and healing that
you need right now.
PISCES – Feb 19/Mar 20
1st Week: Pisces, you are in
no danger of not being popular
right now, so continue
to enjoy all of the invitations
you receive. You also can be
proactive and throw your
own party for friends.
2nd Week: It’s all about
team spirit right now, Pisces.
Don’t do anything alone for
the next several days. You
need people in your corner
cheering you and others on.
3rd Week: While you are
prone to giving all of your
energy away to others most
of the time, this week you
focus mostly on you, Pisces.
It’s a welcomed change that
you deserve.
4th Week: There is no doubt
that you’ve earned a few
commendations, Pisces. But
this week you need to accept
congratulations without
being boastful. Exhibit
both humility and pride.
