Inner Wheel celebrates 100 years worldwide The Association of Inner Wheel Clubs in Great Britain & Ireland is celebrating its 100th birthday all over the world. Although it is now an international organisation with around 108,000 members in 104 countries, it was founded in Manchester, England in January 1924 (the Inner Wheel year runs from July to June). In the UK members support refuge centres for abused women, child centres and drop-in centres, school breakfast clubs and much more. The local Inner Wheel Club of Reading Maiden Erlegh, which meets on the third Thursday of every month in Sonning Golf Club at 7.15pm, has given support in many other ways. This coming year will include a Black Tie Gala Dinner Dance, Bridge Drives, an Art Cafe at the Rotary Charity Art and Craft Fair and supporting Santa as his elves in his Christmas Grotto. The Association's president's theme for this special year is '100 for 100' when members will try to find 100 ways to make a difference.
