Presiding Bishop of the Church of God of Prophecy.

The Church of God of Prophecy began over one hundred years ago in the 

humble hearts of earnest believers in the rural mountains of Cherokee 

County, North Carolina. Following a powerful revival that took place in a 

schoolhouse near Camp Creek in 1886, a small congregation formed a 

Christian Union to pray and study the scriptures. In 1903, the group was 

introduced to an energetic young pastor from Indiana named A.J. Tomlinson 

and was more formally organized into the Church of God. From the beginning, 

these spiritual pioneers prioritized the evangelization of lost souls as 

their chief duty, as evidenced in the minutes of our first assembly in 1906. When the topic of evangelism was 

discussed at this small gathering “strong men wept and said they were not only willing, but they were anxious to 

go.” Although 120 years have passed since our formal organization, the Spirit continues to call us to take the 

glorious Gospel message to a world that desperately needs him. All around us opportunities abound to reflect 

his heart to the lost, hurting, and lonely until they are reconciled to him. This ministry of reconciliation given to 

us by God cannot be one of many focuses; rather, it must be our one priority! As you gather with the church 

family in your convention, it is my prayer that the Holy Spirit would hover over your meeting. May that same 

Spirit that hovered over the early believers in Acts 2 and over our forefathers and foremothers in 1903, stir a 

passion in us for lost souls! The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Will you join me in praying to the 

Lord of the harvest to send out laborers? As we pray, may it also be said of you and me that we were not only 

willing but anxious to go!

Greetings to all delegates at the National Convention of the 

Church of God of Prophecy in the Windward Islands. 

“Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord 

Jesus Christ.” By using the theme “Reconciling the world to 

Christ through the preaching of the Gospel,” the church is 

demonstrating consciousness of the need for people 

everywhere to be brought back into right relationship with our 

Creator. God loves the world and desires that all who are separated from him would be brought 

back into fellowship with him. The way has been created through the death, resurrection, and 

ascension of Jesus. 

We are hereby acknowledging God’s great plan of redemption knowing that it is not his will for 

anyone to perish, but for all who believe in Jesus to be saved. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the 

new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself 

through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in 

Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation 

(2 Cor. 5:17-19). 

Undoubtedly in this convention believers will have an opportunity to celebrate together. God 

has reconciled us to himself through Christ and we go ahead with the ministry and the message 

of reconciliation. It is wonderful to be reconciled to Christ. We are sent, “as the Father has sent 

me, I am sending you” (John20:21 NIV). May we all hear what the Holy Spirit is saying each 

individual and may we be willing to go with the good news of Jesus in our community throughout 

the nation and wherever we may go in the world. 

Of significance is the present specific vision of the Church of God of Prophecy to 

glorify God through prayer, harvesting, stewardship, leadership development and service. 

May God continue to bless the islands of Barbados, Grenada, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the 

Grenadines.

Bishop Clayton F. Best is the Husband of One wife. She is Andrea Best. He is Senior 

Pastor of the “Well Gap” Cave Hill, COGOP Nr. The UWI, University of the West Indies 

Cave Hill Campus, Barbados. Bishop Best is an avid reader, and loves the word and 

instructing...He has an Associate Degree in Theology and a Bachelor Degree in Pastoral 

Theology from the Caribbean Mission Bible College (Barbados), which is chartered and 

accredited by Kingsway Christian College and Theological Seminary in Iowa, USA.

Greetings to the delegates, friends and well wisher of the 25th Biennial Regional 

Convention of the Church of God of Prophecy in this region of Barbados and the 

Windward Islands of St. Lucia, Grenada St. Vincent and Barbados. Hosted in the 

beautiful Island state of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. We are together again in a 

“Face to Face” convention and a time of great worship, fellowship and comradely. 

The pandemic in the past few years in its onslaught, tried to take us out, but we are 

all here together again praising the Lord. The theme of this convention “Reconciling 

the World to Christ through the Preaching of the Gospel” is very timely, and speaks 

to the urgency and mandate of the church to act now and be deliberate, intentional and conscientious of the 

times, and the opportunities to engage the harvest. It is my hope and expectation that this event will be a 

learning platform and a place that will help every single one of us when we leave here; to carry with us that deep 

conviction to help reconcile the world to Christ through the preaching of the word. Let us remember that each 

square foot of our parish, district or nation where we live is a pulpit. They are more pulpits around us than the 

one in your church. Find a pulpit in your home, on the street, in the market place, or where the Lord will lead 

you; and do what God Himself had declared that He is to the population of the world. It’s a world campaign, 

but it begins here! It begins in our area, our islands...on our streets. 

May we answer the call knowing that…”All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and 

gave us the ministry of reconciliation; That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to himself, not 

counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

our World today, it appears that the World is still looking for an answer, it is embedded 

in our mission to provide that answer which is Jesus Christ. My prayer is that we 

will take the encouragement from the Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 4:2 and preach the 

word be instant in season, which will definitely allow us to fulfill the mandate of our theme.

As we embark on the 25th Biennial Convention, the theme, 

“Reconciling the World to Christ Through the Preaching of the Gospel.” 

is most fitting for the time that we’re living in. Jesus said “…I 

am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except 

through me…”. It is our hope and prayer that the Holy Spirit would 

cause the essence of this theme to create in His body, an awakening to 

the evangelistic needs of our nations and people. 

We, as living witnesses of the truth of God’s Word, know that the power 

of the gospel leads men to salvation. 

Saints of God, we are here to be blessed, to worship and fellowship together, 

to celebrate where we’ve been, and to decide where we are heading. It must be settled in 

our hearts that we are reconciliatory agents of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, whose mandate is to 

bring in souls to the Kingdom. 

The grace of our Lord be with us, as we embrace God’s divine mandate for this hour!

ago by the disobedience and fall of the first Adam. However, the second Adam (Jesus 

Christ) came and, through his redemptive blood, laid the foundation of reconciliation 

and gave us the word of reconciliation. No matter what you have done or how 

far you have gone, the efficacy of Christ's sacrifice will lift you from the most profound 

depth and give you new life and hope. Where sin abounded, grace did much 

more abound.

We are here to worship God and promote unity and fellowship with all believers. To evaluate our stewardship, 

to develop our focus of the ‘harvest’ with deliberate intention for execution, “Reconciling the World to 

CHRIST through the Preaching of the Gospel.” 

Registration: 

This is a very simple practice for which we ask your cooperation. Please register and state which island /district 

you are from. You are only required to register once. 

Visitors: 

Ushers & Greeters, please lookout for all visitors and report to the 

Hospitality and Public Relations Desk. We do not want to miss anyone. 

Parents and Guardians: 

Thank you for bringing your children to the convention. Please ensure that there are no unattended children 

moving around during the sessions. It is the duty of everyone to see that the premises outside and inside the auditorium 

are kept clean. Put your garbage in containers/bags provided.

The Music Department is responsible to see that instruments and personnel are available and ready to bless the Lord in 

song. All musicians and tambourine players should sit in the designated area provided and be ready to minister at the 

appointed time. The Minister/s of Music is/are responsible to ensure that musicians are rotated so as to ensure that all competent 

musicians from all the districts (where possible), can have the opportunity to bless the Lord and convention with their 

talents. 

The Parking and Watchmen Committee will be on hand to assist (direct) you in parking your vehicles and making 

sure that they are safe. Kindly co-operate with them in order to make their work easier. Remember they are working for 

your comfort and safety! 

Registrars will be calling on you to register your name that we may have a record of the attendance. Kindly co-operate 

and register ONCE for the entire duration of the convention. 

Persons whose names are on the programme should sit in the designated area during the session so as to be ready when 

called upon.
