Minois
More than just a children’s skincare brand, Minois Paris is for parents in search of a
more responsible lifestyle and who are acutely aware of the quality of products and the
expertise of the people who make them. Minois Paris offers a line of natural care for
babies and children, suitable from birth, made in France with the highest standards.
NATURAL CARE LINE FOR
BABIES AND CHILDREN
We develop really gentle formulas using
natural, organic ingredients that are
suitable for little children’s delicate skin.
Our products are made with a short list
of ingredients that are easy to identify,
without compromising on the sensory
aspects, such as pleasant textures, delicate
fragrances and attractive packaging.
MADE IN FRANCE WITH LOVE
The decision to make our products in
France came from our desire to provide
solid guarantees on the source and the
quality of our products. Our formulas
are created working closely with our
local partner laboratories following very
high standards. Because children’s skin
is particularly delicate, we have designed
very mild formulas which are gentle on
even the most sensitive skin.

MINOIS PARIS
All of the active ingredients in our
formulas are natural and organically
grown, as well as being completely safe
for children. Simple, effective active
ingredients to suit the specific needs of
children’s sensitive skin and selected by
us for their moisturising, healing and
soothing properties. Our products are
free from: parabens, phenoxyethanol,
sulphates, silicone, phtalates, mineral oil,
colourants...
HÉLÈNE FULCHI,
FOUNDER OF MINOIS PARIS
Always with children in mind and
passionate about cosmetics, Hélène had
been thinking about creating a children’s
skincare brand for a long time. After her
daughter Paz was born, she decided to
take the plunge with Minois, after having
worked for almost 10 years in the communications
and media industry. A new
mum with a great sense of responsibility,
Hélène looked for products for her
daughter which were perfect in terms of
composition, effective in terms of results
and stylishly designed. She realised that it
was very difficult to find products which
combined all of these criteria. And so
Minois came into the world! Skincare
with a transparent approach, a list of
ingredients which is easy to read and
understand and an attractive brand
identity.
INTERVIEW WITH THOMAS LEPINE - FOUNDER
Charlie Crane
Founded by Thomas Lépine, Charlie Crane is a leading baby and children’s furniture
design company based in Paris. Influenced by mid-century French and Scandinavian
design, the Charlie Crane range offers high-quality furniture for design-conscious families.
HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU
HAVE IN YOUR TEAM AND
WHERE ARE THEY BASED?
Since its creation in 2012, the Charlie
Crane team is constantly growing. I started
on my own, and soon after, joined by
Gaspard Tiné-Bérès, the brand’s designer,
then Lucille Dubos, who is in charge of
the sales department, and Marie Perrière,
as a digital manager. Today, the team
counts 12 collaborators who are mainly
based in Paris. But Charlie Crane has
been teleworking long before the Covid
pandemic, as part of the team live in small
cities near Paris, on the French Riviera…
and even Barcelona!
WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO
CREATE THIS BEAUTIFUL BRAND?
As you may have guessed, it started when
I became a father, a dozen years ago, and
had to buy lots of useful but ugly stuff for
the upcoming baby, which was completely
ruining the decor of my apartment, haha!.
That’s when I had the idea to launch my
own brand. Charlie Crane’s ambition has
always been to create furniture for babies
and kids that infuses adult codes into the
child’s world. The LEVO rocker blends
in perfectly with the living room decor,
the TOBO high chair harmonizes with
the dining room table and the KUMI crib
becomes a work of art… or almost!
SABA CHAIR / PHOTO @LARALOVESPARIS

KUMI CRADLE / PHOTO MARIA VASCHAUNER
WHO DO YOU HAVE IN MIND
WHEN YOU CREATE NEW
PRODUCTS?
We are highly motivated to design
furniture for babies and toddlers. But
Charlie Crane is not just an aesthetic
brand. We work hard everyday to design
innovative furniture that attempts to
respond to new uses or real problems.
For example, the KIMI bed does not
have bars: first, to prevent children from
hurting themselves by getting stuck and,
secondly, so babies cannot have a point
of support to straddle the bed alone.
WHERE DO YOU FIND YOUR
INSPIRATION?
I happen to be a great lover of design,
particularly inspired by the 1950s. I like
rounded shapes and noble materials. A
passion that I share with Gaspard, the
designer of the brand. On a daily basis,
we really try to mix the love for design
with the need for innovative products.
HOW DO YOU BALANCE
FAMILY LIFE AND MANAGING
A SUCCESSFUL GLOBAL BRAND?
I have a great team surrounding me! Both
in my professional life, where I work with
people I can trust and delegate to. And in
my private life, where my wife is my true
teammate (hey Mathilde!).
We recently bought ourselves a little house
in the country, a few hours from Paris by
car. This allows us to easily escape on
weekends with our three kids and really
get away from work.

TOBO HIGH CHAIR / CHARLIE CRANE
HOW IS YOUR BRAND
CONTRIBUTING TOWARDS A
MORE SUSTAINABLE + ETHICAL
FUTURE?
One of our main priorities is, of course,
to create sustainable products that use
noble materials, if possible ecological,
especially wood. This has the huge
advantage of storing CO2. The team
also works to reduce the brand’s carbon
footprint as much as possible. The
products are designed as flat-packed as
possible in order to reduce the volume
to be transported. The use of plastic is
reduced to the strict minimum and our
factories are as close as possible to our
logistics center, located in France.
TELL US ABOUT THE CREATIVE
PROCESS OF YOUR PRODUCTS?
The first idea can come from me as well as
from Gaspard, the designer of the brand.
It often starts with a feeling that “lingers”
in our heads: there is a missing product
in the range or it would be convenient to
imagine a product like that for parents’
everyday life... We let it emerge slowly
until it’s sharp enough to talk about it
seriously.
If we both like the project, then we move
on to step two: the design! It’s a long
process of going back and forth with the
factories, which requires a great deal of
tenacity.

“It often starts with a feeling that lingers in our heads: there is a missing
product in the range... imagine a product like that for parents’ everyday life...”
Then you have to pass the security
standards, which can be very complicated
in the childcare universe! In short, we
work hard and for a long time to give life
to our ideas.
WHAT FEEDBACK RECEIVED
FROM A CUSTOMER HAS MADE
YOU MOST PROUD?
We love it when people tell us they use
Charlie Crane products for multiple
babies. From the 1st to the 3rd in the
same family, then on to cousins, friends…
I know that Charlie Crane products come
at a price, but they are solid, timeless and
last over time.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR CHARLIE
CRANE?
This year, the brand celebrates its 10th
anniversary! This year is all the more
significant as we are launching two new
products: the TOBO, a wooden highchair,
beautiful, practical and evolving from
baby’s first meal... to adulthood. And
the KUKO, a cocoon and light bassinet
with minimalist lines which, once placed
on its wooden base, can also be used as a
real cradle. The two new products will be
available in several colors, like the rest of
the collection, to fit any interior.
KUKO MOSES BASKET + ACTIVITY ARCH / CHARLIE CRANE
In the years to come, Charlie Crane wishes
to continue to expand its range and to be
a brand anchored in its environment, in
particular, by reinforcing its responsible
approach.
INTERVIEW WITH SUSANN KARLSSON - FOUNDER
garbo&friends
Based in Stockholm and founded in 2012 by illustrator and designer Susann Karlsson,
Garbo&Friends has created a poetic universe with products that are beautiful, sustainable
and inspirational. Products that stand the test of time, both in terms of style and quality.
ideas that I could actually work with
illustration to create the result or feeling
I wanted for a project. That is also when
I got into printmaking and got a sense of
how much of a difference a pattern could
make for communicating a visualization,
patterns are a very strong tool.
PHOTO NATHALIE SILFVER
WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO
CREATE THIS BEAUTIFUL BRAND?
I graduated from one of the best schools
in Europe as a graphic designer and had
really found my way into illustration,
before I used to paint oils or watercolor,
but it was not until I could digitalize my
So I had just graduated from this great
school and thought I was the king of
the world, I had a job as a Junior Art
Director lined up post graduation and life
was good. But when I started at the firm
and was six months in, my ideas were not
valued or really taken into serious consideration.
My ideas were broken down
to small pieces, if even considered, and I
became a drawing machine for someone
else’s ideas, and that was not what I
wanted to do.
At the same time my friends started
having kids and shopping for gifts was
quite uninspiring, so I asked myself:
who better to draw for, who would most
appreciate my illustrations? Well, children
of course, I thought, and that is the very
first start of Garbo&Friends.

SUSANN KARLSSON NEMIROVSKY
WHO DO YOU HAVE IN MIND
WHEN YOU CREATE NEW
PRODUCTS?
As I am my own harshest critic, I usually
have myself in mind when I create a new
product. It is very hard to know what
others feel about something you create,
and if I ask different people they all have
a different answer, so it is important
for me to be happy with the product or
print that I make, and ask mysefl whether
I would buy it if I saw it in a store but
didn’t know who made it.
WHERE DO YOU FIND YOUR
INSPIRATION?
I would say the garden is the biggest
inspiration currently. I have become
obsessed about plants! But also traveling
is a big inspiration, perhaps not so much
the travelling itself, but more a change of
scenery, if that makes any sense...
Oh and of course Pinterest, I don’t think
I could ever physically get close to be
able to see such a vast number of color
combinations, styles and moods if it
wasn’t for Pinterest, its an amazing space
where I can spend hours and hours!
WHAT MAKES YOUR BRAND
AND PRODUCTS SO LOVED?
I hope to think that it is the genuine
feeling that a lot of thought has been put
into the product and the making of the
print that adorns it!

SWIMMING RANGE / GARBO&FRIENDS
HOW DO YOU BALANCE YOUR
PERSONAL LIFE AND MANAGING
A SUCCESSFUL LEADING
BRAND?
I have not found that balance! I work too
much but I also love what I do at Garbo.
So sometimes, I find it hard to spend an
evening doing the second or third thing I
love most, like dinner with friends or to
go out for a movie, haha, sounds sad but
actually isn’t, well at least not quite as sad
as it sounds.
claim to be in a sustainable business even
if we do everything we can to ensure we
do it the best way possible. We produce
OEKO-Tex certified and try to keep
as many of our productions in Europe
as possible, which is what we feel is the
best way to know our products are made
ethically, fairly and by people that have
the rights to maternity leave, sick leave
and fair wages. A life situation that we
take for granted in the west, but is not so
common elsewhere.
HOW IS YOUR BRAND
CONTRIBUTING TOWARDS A
MORE SUSTAINABLE & ETHICAL
FUTURE?
This is a very tricky question as we work
with production, I am not sure we can
TELL US ABOUT THE CREATIVE
PROCESS OF YOUR PRODUCTS
It is a big secret! ;)
It normally starts with a lot of thinking
and sketching, simple sketches to get a

“I have the privilege to now work with an amazing children’s clothing
speak. I can’t wait for the world to see it in March 2023 because it will be
nothing short of amazing!”
feeling of what I would like to do or what
I feel would complement what we already
have in our selection. This is when it is a
great time to travel, as this allows me to not
be at home, surrounded by all the things
that you don’t really notice, because you
are so used to them, they have lost their
magic. Not sure if this makes sense, but I
find traveling triggers my “sponge-eyes”,
where any minor detail can be interesting
and I can find beauty in everything.
During COVID I watched A LOT of
nature films, traveling documentaries, but
it did affect me a lot for inspiration!
I draw the pattern I have selected in more
detail, then finalise it in the computer - I
have a very nice computer that is basically
like a big sheet of paper, the screen is a
big drawing board.
I usually start with the print and then
choose the solids and the range the
pattern should be placed on.
WHAT FEEDBACK RECEIVED
FROM A CUSTOMER HAS MADE
YOU MOST PROUD?
Ah also a hard question...
I do get happy every time a customer
says how much they like the prints or the
brand. And that they have their room and
their kids rooms full of our products!
WHAT’S NEXT FOR GARBO&-
FRIENDS?
We have such great plans for SS23. We will
launch our first comprehensive children’s
line and weave this line together with our
interior products. I have the privilege to
now work with an amazing children’s
clothing designer that is, together with
our buyers, making magic in our studio
as we speak. I can’t wait for the world to
see it in March 2023 because it will be
nothing short of amazing!
Mama Hangs
Mama Hangs is a French baby carrier clothing brand based in Biarritz, that manufactures
in Portugal, combining simplicity, comfort, safety and style. It aims to help active and
urban parents in their everyday life. Coming to Antipoda Co website very soon.
WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO
CREATE THIS BEAUTIFUL BRAND?
The idea for Mama Hangs came when
our first daughter Romy was just one
month old. I would take her everywhere,
while she slept on me in a wrap, refusing
to sleep in her bed during the day!
My friends, who had children told me
that they never carried their baby with any
accessory because of the complexity of
the existing wraps and baby carriers.
Having a decade of experience in product
creation for sport brands and being
convinced that the benefits that come
from carrying your child are irreplaceable,
I matched my professional experience to
my personal convictions to concept the
idea.
WHAT DO YOUR CUSTOMERS
LOVE ABOUT YOUR PRODUCTS?
The simplicity of use, the quality, the sustainability
of fabrics and the versatility of

INTERVIEW WITH VERONIQUE - CO-FOUNDER
products. It feels good when mothers tell
us that their post-partum would not be
the same without us. Helping parents in
their everyday life is our main goal!
HOW DO YOU BALANCE FAMILY
LIFE AND RUNNING YOUR
BUSINESS?
It’s chaotic because we have no separation
between Mama Hangs and our family
life. I guess that Romy (our 4-year-old
daughter) would be able to speak about
the brand and the products to the
customers!
HOW IS MAMA HANGS
COMMITTED TO SUSTAINABILITY?
Before launching Mama Hangs,
François-Xavier and I worked in the
sport industry for 10 years. It is a very
big industry where there’s no real
commitment for sustainability. It was
very important for us to use sustainable
fabrics and work with ethical partners. All
our products are made in Portugal with
organic cotton (GOTS certified) or other
sustainable fabrics.
time to think about every detail, every
added value. Only after this long process,
we launch a prototype with our factory. It
sometimes takes three or four prototypes
before getting a final product! Most of
the products we have released took 1.5
years to be finalised.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR MAMA
HANGS?
2022 has been epic for Mama Hangs!
We‘ve launched a Pregnancy and
Skin-to-skin Band in January. Our
innovative Breastfeeding Bra range is now
live and the launch was a success. New
mothers love it, so we are very happy! We
are now preparing the release of our Ring
Sling, and, at the end of the year, a new
Baby Carrier will be launched.
TELL US ABOUT THE CREATIVE
PROCESS OF YOUR PRODUCTS.
The creative process is always very long!
The first step starts with me saying to
FX: “I have an idea!” He calls me “Vero
Gearloose”! Then, we start analysing the
market to see whether we bring something
innovative. If we do, I immediately draw
the product to have a projection. I need

INTERVIEW WITH PERE GIRÓ - CO-FOUNDER
Londji
Londji’s sustainable toys are designed and ethically made in Barcelona, since 2004. Born
with the desire of bringing together the world of art, games, and toys, Londji is committed
to products that are made with innovation, originality and safety in mind.
WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO
CREATE THIS BEAUTIFUL BRAND?
The birth of Londji is the result of a
process, the two founders have known
each other since childhood. Our families
have an entrepreneurial tradition, so since
we were little we have lived this culture.
From a young age we shared a great
passion for travel and, specifically, for
the African continent. We are trained in
Economics and Law and we developed
our careers in these professional sectors
when we left university, combining it with
trips to different countries during the
holidays.
The embryo of Londji began when
we started importing African crafts to
Europe in 1999. Later on, in 2004, we
had the opportunity to participate in a
temporary event in Barcelona. Taking
advantage of our experience, we created a
store with traditional toys from different
parts of the world.
Londji was formally born in 2005. From
that moment we dedicated ourselves
exclusively to it, with the idea of reviving
traditional games and toys.
In 2007 we began to design our own toys,
based on the classics. This idea is still at
the heart of Londji today.
MY LITTLE WORLD SPINNING TOPS / LONDJI

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT / LONDJI
Our intention is to design and manufacture
quality toys in our country, based on the
usual games.
Our own designs have acquired all the
weight and currently 99% of the catalog
consists of our own creations and
production.
From 2012 we started manufacturing
internally. This allows us to know the
processes well, pamper the materials and,
in return, have the control we want over
the quality of the product.
Over the years, many people have joined
the project. Right now, Londji is the result
of the hard work of a team of 40 people,
where everyone is important, since each
one of them contributes their grain of
sand to the project.
WHO DO YOU HAVE IN MIND
WHEN YOU CREATE NEW
PRODUCTS?
Above all, our children. We always say that
we make the toys that we like our children
to play with. We like toys to convey values
that we identify oursleves with: toys made
with care and respect for the environment
that surrounds us. The sum of all this
provides toys with honesty and warmth,
which we are very proud of.
WHERE DO YOU FIND
INSPIRATION?
Inspiration is born from classic toys, to
which we pass through our filter, to give
them our personality, while adding some
nuance that makes them different. We
always look for a point of difference, so

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT / LONDJI
that our vision contributes with something
new to the world of toys. Classic games
have a great capacity to amuse, excite and
at the same time add value through the
game itself.
HOW DO YOU BALANCE
YOUR PERSONAL LIFE WITH
MANAGING A SUCCESSFUL
LEADING BRAND?
You make many personal sacrifices
when you start a project. You give up
a lot when you try to carry out an idea.
There are busy schedules, trips... and the
uncertainty weighs you down, since you
always have the doubt of whether that
sacrifice will bear any fruit. Nowadays, I
don’t think there’s much of a difference
between what we do and anyone else with
a 40-hour-week job. Of course, there is
travel involved, but over time we are very
selective with the international fairs in
which we exhibit. In the end, in life, the
great luxury is being able to share time
with the people you love, therefore, we try
to share as much time as possible with our
family and be present to see our children
grow.
HOW DOES LONDJI CONTRIBUTE
TO A MORE SUSTAINABLE AND
ETHICAL FUTURE?
For us, the word sustainability has a very
deep meaning, which encompasses two
aspects. In the first place, an aspect related
to the manufacture and the materials

“A second aspect of sustainability that is basic for us, and that clearly connects
with the ethics of the product, is the social aspect, which is often forgotten.”
used. In our case, we manufacture our
toys in our facilities in Banyoles with
collaborators from the area, avoiding
the environmental costs caused by
the transport of goods from distant
countries. We only use paper and wood
of European origin and from responsible
sources, the cardboard we use in our
products is recycled and the entire
product is recyclable, once its life is over.
All the energy we use in our facilities is
from renewable sources. The material
left over from the production is classified
and offered free of charge to schools and
social projects in our area, avoiding waste.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR LONDJI?
We think that the best toy is always the
one that is yet to be made.
In the coming years our idea is to
consolidate the project, expand our range
to the younger children, up to two years
old, and add to the children’s lifestyle
collection, so that Londji becomes a
global brand related to the children’s
universe.
A second aspect of sustainability that
is basic for us, and that clearly connects
with the ethics of the product, is the
social aspect, which is often forgotten.
Having a local production allows us to
create jobs and wealth in our environment
and, in turn, guarantee that the Londji
team works with decent and respectful
economic conditions within a non-hierarchical
structure. This local production also
allows us to collaborate with companies
that promote the social integration of
people with different abilities and from
less favored social environments, understanding
that all this generates wealth, not
only economic, but also social, within our
environment.
The sum of both aspects is what gives
meaning to the project and contributes
our grain of sand for a fairer and more
sustainable society.
RUEDA DE COLOR
Cocoletes
Nuria and Jonás, parents of Eloy and Yago, bring us the most beautiful, natural, hand
crafted products, filled with love and magic, from their workshop in Navaleno, a small
town located in Soria, surrounded by the largest forest in Spain.
WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO
CREATE THIS BEAUTIFUL BRAND?
Cocoletes officially started in 2018,
although the idea began to take shape a
few months before, with the arrival of
our first child. Games and toys of all
kinds arrived with it, but we were quickly
fascinated by the beauty and warmth of
the wooden pieces.
WHO DO YOU HAVE IN MIND
WHEN YOU CREATE NEW
PRODUCTS?
Our children and nephews, but also a
little bit of each one of the boys and girls
that surround us and inevitably leave a
mark on us.

INTERVIEW WITH NURIA & JONAS - CO-FOUNDERS
“Sustainability, love and respect for the natural environment are the fundamental
pillars of Cocoletes, and that is precisely what we want to convey with our work.”
WHERE DO YOU FIND THE
INSPIRATION?
In our pine forest. In its colours, textures
and aromas, in short, in everything that
the forest has to offer.
WHAT MAKES YOUR BRAND AND
PRODUCTS SO LOVED?
When someone observes our work
through a screen, they quickly realise that
they are looking at unique pieces of great
beauty, but when one of these pieces is
held in their hands, it is difficult to resist
the soft and warm touch of the wood and
the affection that reveals the craftsmanship.
HOW DO YOU BALANCE YOUR
PERSONAL LIFE AND MANAGING
A SUCCESSFUL LEADING
BRAND?
This may be one of the most difficult
tasks of our work. Design, manufacturing,
marketing, social networks, etc… We
prioritise and divide the tasks between the
two of us as best as we can, and always try
not to let them steal too much time from
our family and home time, but as we’ve
said earlier, it is not easy at all.
HOW IS YOUR BRAND
CONTRIBUTING TOWARDS A
MORE SUSTAINABLE + ETHICAL
FUTURE?
FOX PUZZLE
Sustainability, love and respect for the
natural environment are the fundamental
pillars of Cocoletes, and that is precisely
what we want to convey with our work.
We are committed to a business model
in which the use and conservation
of natural resources prevail over
performance and productivity. We are
aware that we are very small, but that does
not mean we can ignore our footprint.
For example, we are part of an energy
cooperative that provides us with green
energy from renewable sources. We also
collaborate with non-profit associations
that contribute to reforestation and tree
planting in different parts of Spain.
HAVANA, PLUM CAKE + CHERRY BOMB WATCHES / MINI KYOMO
Mini Kyomo
Founded by a fellow mother based in a small town near Barcelona, Mini Kyomo manufactures
sustainable kids watches in Italy, offering children the opportunity to learn to
read the time easlily while allowing them to chose a style that matches their personality.
WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO
CREATE THIS BEAUTIFUL BRAND?
When I had my first son, I discovered
the world of kids’ fashion and fell in love
with all the cool brands. I’ve been wanting
for a long time to do something related
to it but I wasn’t sure how I could add
something to all the beautiful brands
out there and distinguish myself from
them. When my eldest son started to ask
questions about time and I decided to
look for a watch for him, I found out that
the options were very limited. It didn’t hit
me at first, but a few months later, while
we were traveling, I had this revelation:
“that’s what I’m going to do, I’m going to
design watches for kids!”

INTERVIEW WITH ISABELLE GAVRAY - CO-FOUNDER
“A watch is both useful and playful, and that’s why parents like to gift them.
Many of us remember our fisrt watch, it’s often exciting because we perceive it
as a grown-up object, and a way to learn something new”
WHO DO YOU CREATE FOR?
When I create new products, I have in
mind the kids (and grown-ups!) who will
wear them. I try to imagine how they
will associate them with the rest of their
outfit, and I try to find the right balance
between aesthetic and practicality. I also
like to imagine how the full collection will
look like on display. For example, I had to
start the design process all over because I
had designed 4 watches that I really liked
individually but that didn’t look good
together.
gift them too. Many of us remember our
first watch, it’s often exciting because we
perceive it as a grown-up object and a way
to learn something new (reading time). I
think that our customers particularly like
the practicality of our watches (we make
time easy to read) as well as their unique
shape and colours. They are the perfect
final touch to a cool outfit.
WHERE DO YOU FIND
INSPIRATION?
I’m obsessed with aesthetics, and I find
inspiration in everything, it can be a
landscape, a painting, a place, just looking
at people and the way they dress, or even
some simple everyday objects. My phone
is filled with pictures of random objects,
just because I like their colours or their
shape.
WHAT MAKES YOUR BRAND AND
PRODUCTS SO LOVED?
I think kids like accessories in general
because they stand somewhere between a
garment and a toy, a watch is both useful
and playful and that’s why parents like to

HOW DO YOU BALANCE FAMILY
LIFE AND RUNNING YOUR OWN
BUSINESS?
I don’t! Or at least I rarely feel like I do.
There are days or periods when I’m more
focused on family life and feel like I’m
falling behind with the brand and all the
things I would like to do, and moments
when I’m more focused on the brand
and feel like I’m not giving enough of my
time, energy and presence to my family.
Then there are some rare moments in
between when I feel like I’ve reached a
balance, but it can change so quickly. I’m
slowly learning to accept it rather than
feeling frustrated and wanting to be in
two places at the same time. I think being
two (Alessandro is my partner in business
and in life!) is helping us, when one of
us needs to work a few extra hours, the
other one can spend time with the kids
and vice versa.
HOW DOES MK CONTRIBUTE
TO A MORE SUSTAINABLE AND
ETHICAL FUTURE?
Starting from the design, we adapt our
style to sustainable materials offered by
the market. All our products are, in fact,
made of recycled raw materials. We also
use recycled cardboard boxes for the
parcels we ship out every day and re-use
the ones we receive from our suppliers.
TELL US ABOUT THE CREATIVE
PROCESS OF YOUR PRODUCTS?
I collect a lot of pictures, screenshots
and things that inspire me, and they
form like a mental mood board. I let it
all soak in and often I will have a kind of
illumination at a random moment (in the
bed, under the shower, while playing with
the kids), and images start to pop in my
head! I will then draw something based
on those images and modify it until I’m
satisfied with the result. Sometimes, it is
close to the first thing I visualized and,
sometimes, it is very far from it!
WHAT DO YOUR CUSTOMERS
LOVE ABOUT YOUR PRODUCTS?
When we started to sell our watches
online, one of our first customers tagged
us on an Insta story: it was a video of her
daughter unwrapping the mini kyomo
watch that she had received for her
birthday. When she saw it, she started to
scream and jump with excitement! It was
moving for us; we had never imagined
that something as simple as a watch
could bring so much joy to a child, and it
really made what we are doing feel more
meaningful.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR MINI KYOMO?
We would love to expand our range
of products and create all kinds of
accessories for kids and grown-ups. I
know it’s going to be more complicated
because, unlike watches, there is a lot of
competition out there for all the other
things. We will have to find new ways to
distinguish ourselves as a brand and offer
something new and exciting, but we like a
good challenge!
