COPAG(Chesham Over 50’s Positive Action Group)COPAG is a locally based community group for thoseaged 50 years and above. It is part of The Bucks OlderPeoples Action Group (BOPAG), an independent, nonpolitical,voluntary organisation made up of groups andindividuals around the county and further afield.The A in COPAG stands for action and this is whereCOPAG can really make a difference. If you have anissue that needs tackling, and don't know who can helpyou, COPAG can point you in the right direction. Welisten to our members and take any worries or concernsyou may have to the relevant body or council, etc. Theorganisation has been at the forefront of all major issuesof concern to the older person in Chesham, making suretheir needs are considered. We are the voice of the olderpeople and are not afraid to stand up for ourselves!We currently have members of all ages, both men,women, singles and couples, many who have been partof the group for some years. Membership is just £10 ayear which includes the COPAG Chronicle, a magazinecontaining news, views and features relevant to life inChesham as an over 50-year-old.As a group we love to socialise and listen to somevery interesting speakers e.g. charities, experts in healthand wellbeing and we hosted a remarkable speaker whohas a list of over 200 talks and speaks without notes.We also enjoy listening to music and have welcomedentertainment from jazz bands, a ukulele group andstudents from Chesham Grammar singing at ourChristmas party.In addition to our monthly meetings we also arrangea day trip to various locations of interest once a year,previously visiting the Houses of Parliament.COPAG are a Chesham Town Council Town Partnerand are regularly featured in the local press, regarded asa credible voice on behalf of the older person inChesham.We meet at Chesham Town Hall every 3rd Friday ofthe month between 10-12pm. It is a very central locationwith easy and disabled access and facilities. Many of uswalk to these meetings or contact Dial A Ride butdisabled and general parking is also available in Catlingscar park where the Town Hall is situated.We are a lovely group who are always welcoming newmembers.
