Blinds & Shutters - Issue 3/2023

Summer seems to have arrived and I imagine it’s peak season for companies that are involved in the awnings and solar shading markets. There seems to a lot of choices out there and it will be interesting to see how the home improvement market copes with the increasing of interest rates over the last few months. Lots of fixed mortgage rates are coming to an end, from historically low levels, so it way create another shock to consumers. So fingers crossed that it’s not as bad as some economists would have us believe and hopefully the rest of the summer will be long and hot!

Opening the gates
Energy efficiency is
a trending topic in
door and gate
industry
The Doors/Gates area is a key pillar of R+T
and will once again find a home from 19 to
23 February 2024 in the Alfred Kärcher
Halle (Hall 8) and the Paul Horn Halle (Hall 10).
Numerous well-known companies will impress
visitors to the world's leading trade fair for roller
shutters, doors/gates and sun shading systems
with their innovative products and services, with
which the high requirements of the market can be
met. There is a demand for sustainable solutions
for the resource-friendly use of energy, in
particular.
"Our member companies can hardly wait to
showcase their innovations at the upcoming R+T
2024", reports Kai-Uwe Grögor, President of BVT
– Verband Tore (National Federation of Door and
situation in relation to climate change and the
higher energy prices, the topic of energy saving
also plays a decisive role for the door and gate
industry." To that effect, visitors can already look
forward to diverse, user-friendly solutions. "The
insulation of building components is extremely
important overall – and, by extension, the doors
and gates", adds Kai-Uwe Grögor. This is
particularly interesting for solutions that are
integrated in the thermal building envelope.
Optimised opening and closing times also play a
key role when it comes to avoiding energy losses.
"A lot has also been accomplished here in recent
years", says Kai-Uwe Grögor. It also gets exciting in
the Smart Home area with whose help
doors/gates can be used very comfortably.
Time is energy
Alpha Deuren is one of the exhibitors that has
significantly optimised the opening and closing
times of their doors/gates. The Dutch company
now also carries, for example, high-speed doors
and gates in the range which comprise a sturdy
