CSG Parish Council
win an award
The Parish Council were delighted to receive
the Local Council Foundation Level Award at
the Council meeting on Wednesday 7th June
2023.
The Local Council Award Scheme (LCAS) has
been designed to celebrate the successes of
the very best local councils and to provide a
framework to support all local councils to improve
and develop to meet their full potential. The
scheme offers councils the opportunity to show
that they meet the standards set by the sector
and put in place the conditions for continued
improvement.
The award was presented to Councillor Gordon
Patrick BEM by the Chief Executive Officer of
Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Association
of Local Councils, Mel Woof.
Left: Mel Woof Right: Gordon Patrick BEM
Mel explained that the award is judged nationally
and is the first step on a journey to achieve gold
accreditation. There are only five councils out
of 240 in the Buckinghamshire region who have
achieved an award in this scheme.
Mel congratulated the Clerk for her work towards
achieving the award and also thanked the Council
for having the right ethos and commitment to
want to achieve the best for their parishioners.
Little Chalfont
Parish Council
Why not come and join us?
Sadly, a couple of our long-standing councillors
have now left the parish council, and we are
looking for some new recruits.
You don’t need any special experience – just
enthusiasm! Any training needed will be provided
and you only need to live or work in the village
and be over age 18 to qualify. We meet once a
month on the second Wednesday in the village
hall in Cokes Lane, starting at 7.30pm.
At these meetings we discuss various issues
affecting Little Chalfont and its residents, which can
vary between thoughtless parking and speeding
drivers to the building of a new village hall.
Parish councillors also attend the planning
meetings, held every three weeks, to discuss local
planning applications. We advise Bucks Council of
any matters concerning local residents who could
be affected by these plans.
The work is all voluntary and can be very varied,
so if you would like to learn more about our work,
why not come along to a meeting and see it in
operation for yourself? No need to let us know
in advance – members of the public are always
welcome to any meeting at any time, so drop in
when you can to see for yourself. The next parish
council meetings are scheduled for 12 July and 9
August. See you there!
COMMUNITY NEWS
CSP, CSG and
GX Ukrainian
Outreach Project
The project is still running successfully,
making bi-weekly donations of medical
equipment, mobility aids and good quality
clothing donations to Ukraine. With
thousands of homes flooded by the recent
dam burst, the situation is dire and showing
no signs of improving…
The outreach has been very well supported by
local residents, and now that word has spread,
donations have been coming in from as far
afield as Chichester and Stratford upon
Avon. Various churches, charity groups and
neighbouring villages have all pulled together
to source, house and transport the donations
received, and the messages received from
Ukraine have
overwhelmed
many.
Corporate and
national charity
donations tend to
get delivered to
the bigger centres,
and our smaller
contributions of
medical supplies
and sleeping
bags are easier to
transport to the
more remote villages and to groups under fire at
the frontline.
We could not run this outreach without the
support of the Gold Hill Baptist Church Hub,
St Joseph’s Church, the Chalfont St Peter
Community Centre, Charles Wilson Container
Hire, Misbourne Matins Rotary, the ladies of the
WI and EACH and EVERY PERSON who has
donated generously over and over again - our
heartfelt thanks to them.
The Blue Container is now situated in Mill
Meadow in Chalfont St Peter, postcode SL9 9QX,
alongside the little road that leads to CSP’s tennis
club. Donations can be brought on Monday and
Wednesday mornings, between 10 and 12.
Mallard duck
adopts!
A female mallard duck has “adopted” a
clutch of tufted ducklings and is helping their
tufted duck mother raise them at Arundel
Wetland Centre.
The two wild ducks hatched clutches of eggs
on the same day, on the same pond. Sadly the
mallard ducklings were lost to predators, as can
happen in the wild. The mallard female started
following the tufted duck mum and her brood,
getting closer and now is often in the middle
of the tumble of ducklings, shepherding them
around on the water.
Arundel Wetland Centre’s Head Keeper Sam
McKinlay said, “The female tufted duck permits
the mallard to help look after the ducklings,
sometimes while she has a nap on the bank!
The tufted ducklings are learning to dive now
Winners of Proud
of Bucks Award
On Friday 9 June 2023, Chalfont St Giles
Village Show Committee were awarded a
Proud Of Bucks Award for best Community
Group Contribution in the Denham, Gerrards
Cross and Chalfonts Community Board area.
The award was given to the committee who
run the Village Show and Street Party events,
the latest event being the Coronation Street
Party which attracted Princesses Eugenie and
Beatrice as well as thousands of residents from
the village.
and will disappear before popping back to
the surface of the water like corks – they are a
handful - it’s a lot for the mallard to keep her
eye on!”
Male and female mallard and tufted duck pairs
do not raise their ducklings together so these
co-parenting twosome are a rare sight!
There are many other wild families to see at
Arundel Wetland Centre his June. This week
a family of gadwall ducklings have hatched on
the pond near the Willow Sphere and mute
swan cygnets are on the water with both
parents at the Ramsar hide.
For more information about Arundel Wetland
Centre search WWT Arundel.
The Professional delivery of the Street Party
and Village Show inspires many individuals to
become more involved in their local community
by volunteering to join the committees or to
join the smaller groups that benefit from the
monies distributed.
The events are professional in their delivery
even though they are run by volunteers. The
funds raised at these events are distributed to
village groups and charities.
Over the years there has been over £100,000
distributed to over 50 different organisations
and good causes within the village and
surrounding area.
Throughout the year the team work tirelessly to
bring together a professional show which belies
the size of the village itself.
Chalfont St Giles Parish Councillor Grant
Kirkby who is treasurer for the Village Show
Committee accepted the award on behalf of
the group at the community event in Gerrards
Cross.
EYE NEWS
Protect your eyes
this Summer
As you apply your sunscreen on the warm,
bright days do you take the same care of
your eyes?
It’s easy to forget the age of your sunglasses. Sunglass
tints can fade with time reducing the UV protection,
so if yours are looking a little tired it is time to replace
them - and give your eyes some extra protection.
UV light is also present on cloudy days, so if you find
yourself screwing up your eyes when there are bright
white cloud covering the skies you will appreciate the
benefits of a polarised lens. They are glare - reducing
lenses that stop light that has been reflected off other
surfaces; perfect for sunny and wet days when the
sun is low. When driving the silver sheen on the road
and reflections from oncoming cars is greatly reduced
and the contrast enhanced. As well as being excellent
for driving, polarized lenses offer the best all-roundprotection
for water sports, such as fishing and sailing,
and also skiing.
If you are over 60 you are more likely to develop
cataracts, but we also know that continued exposure
to UV can accelerate the progression of cataracts.
Whilst they are treatable and certain medical
conditions can also increase your risk of developing
cataracts, wearing sunglasses to protect from
exposure to UV is one small change that can help.
With most of us living longer and travelling to hotter
climates it is advisable to start protecting your eyes
as soon as you can. There are choices for lens colours
too, so take the time to consider the benefits of each.
Brown is a contrast-enhancing tint whereby reds and
greens are more defined making it a good choice
for driving whilst grey is a neutral density tint that is
considered a good choice for light sensitivity. Green
is helpful for a bright but cloudy day, like the Ray Ban
G15 lens that was originally used by pilots in the USA.
So before you dig out your Summer wardrobe take a
good look at your sunglasses.
Floor coverings
for your home
Carpet is the most popular type
of flooring. It is available in a huge
range of colours and textures to suit
most areas of your home depending
on the amount of traffic it is likely to
receive.
Carpets are not just made from synthetic
fibres or wool — jute, sisal, seagrass and
coir all make attractive, environmentally
friendly, allergy-friendly and hardwearing
floor coverings.
Engineered wood is a great alternative
to solid wood. It is natural, durable and
extremely long lasting. It is available in
a range of stains. It can be fitted in a
parquet, herringbone or chevron style.
It is cost effective and low maintenance.
Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT)
flooring is a high-end type of vinyl that comes
in planks or tiles instead of a single roll. It gives
That coronation weekend, promotional events
New playground opens in St Giles
On Saturday 10th June, Chairman of
the project on behalf
of the Parish Council
said ‘We decided a
couple of years ago
that the playground
needed a facelift
and so began the
process of asking our
residents what types of
equipment they would
playground style of was needed. Most people
who responded to our surveys wanted a
playground that was in keeping with the beautiful
surrounding countryside and reflected the natural
feel of the environment. More importantly was the
need to make the new playground accessible to
young children of all abilities, so we have included
more sensory features and inclusive equipment.’
The Parish Council are very grateful to
Chalfont St Peter Tennis Club (CSPTC)
announced the official opening of their
No 5 Court in the presence of guests from
the LTA and Local Parish Council.
This fifth court is brand new and it will double as
a Junior Tennis and Pickleball Court. Pickleball
is said to be the fastest growing sport in the US
and is becoming increasingly popular in the UK.
CSPTC are unique in offering this outdoor facility
alongside their current four floodlit tennis courts.
The Junior Court will greatly assist with training
their growing number of young players, whilst
also offering a very safe environment for the
youngest players that are being introduced to
the game.
This new court has not only improved the tennis
club, it has also landscaped the surrounding
residents and dog walkers. The benefit to the
community for this investment has been funded
by the club’s members.
CSPTC prides itself as being a fun and sociable
club, welcoming everyone. The introduction of
Pickleball allows them to attract a new set of
members, alongside their tennis membership.
The KCAFC Lionesses are running a training
programme for 7 Saturday mornings over
the summer for girls aged U10 / U11 (current
school years 5 & 6).
These sessions are designed to give girls who may
not have played football before a taster of what
it is like before they commit to joining a team for
the season. It is also an opportunity for those girls
who may belong to another club a chance to keep
up with their training and fitness while their current
club may be on a summer break.
The sessions will be held in Amersham football
club training ground from 9am to 10.15am from
Saturday 8th July to Saturday 19th August.
The training sessions will include some drills,
improving skills and mini matches. One Saturday
will also include a social after training to watch a
live screening of the England Lionesses as they
play in their first World Cup match. This will be
held in the clubhouse at Amersham Town FC with
bacon rolls and hot drinks too. We will then have
an end of summer finale on Saturday 19th August
with a fun Parents vs. Girls match, followed by a
picnic in the park.
If your daughter is interested in signing up, please
email membership@kcafc.co.uk. The cost for the
7 sessions is £20. This will be refunded if your
daughter signs up to join KCAFC for next season.
We are looking forward to a summer of football
at KCAFC!
LEGAL ADVICE
Protection from
domestic abuse
What is domestic abuse?
Domestic abuse is behaviour that consists
of any of the following:-
a) physical or sexual abuse;
b) violent or threatening behaviour;
c) controlling or coercive behaviour;
d) economic abuse; and/or
e) psychological, emotional or other abuse;
between two people who are over the age of 16 and in a personal
relationship.
It can include harassment, stalking, female genital mutilation,
forced marriage, ‘honour-based’ abuse and trafficking.
If a child sees or hears domestic abuse happening to a family member,
this is also domestic abuse. However, if they experience abuse directly,
this is child abuse.
What can you do to protect yourself, or a loved one, from domestic
abuse?
If you, or someone you know, may be experiencing domestic abuse, you
should consider:
• finding somewhere safe to stay;
• discussing the situation with a trusted neighbour, friend or family
member;
• giving an extra set of keys to your home, copies of important
documents, spare clothes and some money to that trusted person, in
case you need to leave home quickly;
• always having a mobile phone and some change on hand to make
emergency calls;
• reporting the domestic abuse to the police;
• getting a Court Order to prevent the abuse, and/or protect you in your
home; and
• getting help from a domestic abuse charity.
Always call the Police (999) if you or someone else may be in immediate
danger.
What legal options do you have?
If you are suffering from domestic abuse, it is possible to apply to the
Family Court for an injunction to help protect you. There are two types
of injunctions that we can help you apply for:
1. Non-Molestation Order – to prohibit your partner or spouse
from using or threatening violence against you or your children, or
intimidating, harassing or pestering you;
2. Occupation Order – to set out who can live in the family home (or
certain parts of it) and can also restrict someone from entering the area
surrounding a home.
There are certain rules as to who can apply for these types of orders,
procedures to follow and the Court takes certain factors into account
when deciding whether to award them.
We can advise and help you decide which is the best
course of action for you.
abuse and fixed fee consultations to discuss your
situation. For a confidential conversation, please
COMMUNITY NEWS
The Perseids
Meteor Shower –
an amazing
spectacle
Have you ever looked up at the night
sky in the second week of August and
caught a glimpse of a fast-moving streak
of light?
If so this is likely to be the Perseids meteor
shower, which NASA experts say will be the
best shower of the year, with people seeing
about 60-70 meteors per hour. The best
nights to see this will be over August 13th
and 14th August, in the later evening, as the
moon will be very favourable in that it will set
before the meteor shower gets underway.
It is best when looking for meteors to take
in as much sky as possible, and find a dark
area, with low levels of light pollution. A
hilltop or open field in the countryside is
good. And with the Perseid meteor shower it
is best to look toward the North East. This is
toward the constellation Perseus, from which
the meteor gets its name.
The shower is created by the Earth as it goes
around the sun passing every year through
the dust and debris of the Swift-Tuttle comet,
the largest known object to repeatedly pass
by Earth. It last passed by in 1992, and the
next time will be in 2126. It is not forgotten
however, because of the annual passing of
Earth through the dust trail.
As you sit back and look at the meteor
shower you are actually seeing pieces of
the comet debris heat up as they enter our
atmosphere and burn up in vivid bright light
streaks, as they travel at 37 miles (59 km) per
second., equivalent to 133,000 miles per
hour.
In space the debris pieces are called
‘meteoroids’, but when they reach our
atmosphere they are known as meteors. In
the unlikely event that they make their way
down to our planet surface they are called
‘meteorites’. It’s unlikely that any of the
Perseid meteors will find their way to Earth
as they are much too small, being about the
size of a grain of sand.
It is interesting that the name ‘meteor’ comes
from the Greek, meaning all atmospheric
phenomena, and studying this was called
meteorology. It was only in the 19th century
that meteorology became restricted to
specifically the study of weather.
So, put a date in your diary between
13th and 14th August. Find a dark place with
a good view of the sky after the moon has
set and look to the North East. Take the
family, they will be amazed by the spectacle,
and all because our small fragile planet
speeds around the sun every single year
passing through the Swift Tuttle comet
dust cloud!
History of Amersham
Almshouses
Set back from the road nestled between
the hustle and bustle of the High St
sit Miss Day’s Almshouses and Drake’s
Almshouses. These beautiful historic
buildings hold a wealth of history and
philanthropy, dating back hundreds of
years.
In the 1650’s, with a bequest from Sir William
Drake (son of Francis Drake, who was a godson
of the famous Elizabethan sea captain Sir Francis
Drake), six almshouses, known as ‘Drakes’, on the
South side of the High Street were built and in
1857, with an original bequest from Miss Harriet
Day for nine cottages, ‘Miss Day’s Almshouses’,
(in Hatch’s Yard on the North side of the High
Street), were constructed. The funds were then
augmented much later by a bequest from the
Tyrwhitt Drake estate.
residents. Each property now consists of a single
bedroom, lounge, kitchen and shower room with
wc on one floor. The charity are looking to further
modernise them again in 2023.
Each of Miss Day’s Almshouses originally
consisted of a living room, two bedrooms, a
kitchen, a WC, and a small backyard. In 1964 the
back bedroom was converted into a bathroom.
In 2013 a scheme was developed to convert the
existing nine independent homes into seven,
retaining the historic façade and other important
architectural features. This work was completed in
2017 and, in 2018, was awarded The Almshouse
Association Patron’s Award by HRH The Prince of
Wales.
The houses now have greatly improved lounge
and kitchen areas, and a downstairs toilet. The
original crooked staircases have been replaced
with straight ones leading to an enlarged
bedroom and shower room. External walls
have better insulation, utility services have been
upgraded and more storage facilities provided.
Drake’s Almshouses are Grade II* listed buildings.
They were originally for ‘six poor ancient,
well-reputed widows’ who were over 50 years
of age and from the borough and parish of
Amersham. One widow was appointed as
Warden, the first being Anne Child. Each widow
was to receive 2 shillings per week on a Saturday
and once a year, for the first 3 years, a gown
of London Brown (and then every 2 years at
Christmas a new gown) along with 2 pairs of shoes,
stockings and shifts at Easter and Christmas.
The almshouses were modernised in 1964
with the installation of bathrooms in place of coal
cellars and in 1993 when the number of dwellings
was reduced to 4 to improve the living spaces for
There are beautiful communal areas at both
almshouse sites and each resident can have their
own individual flower bed to maintain if they wish.
A communal passageway to the rear of Miss Day’s
leads to a small outhouse (formerly the outside
toilet!) for each resident.
Gayle says “I am fortunate to have been resident
at Day’s Almshouses since 2004 and blessed to
have neighbours who are all good friends who
care for each other.”
Amersham United Charities, set up in 1975, is
run by local volunteer trustees who work hard
to uphold the wishes of the benefactors and
are dedicated to their residents. Trustees are
truly valuable for almshouse charities and if
you are interested in hearing more about how
to become a volunteer trustee, contact us at
ISSUE 15
THE YOUNG
A notable Coronation
Coronations have been part of British life since
William the Conquerer invaded in 1066 and had
himself crowned on New Year’s Day.
Succession by primogeniture (sons of monarchs)
continued until the Wars of the Roses when
succession passed to the Tudors, then the
Stuarts. In the seventeenth century the ‘divine
right of kings’ was challenged’ and parliament
became the dominant authority. Charles 1 was
beheaded in 1649 followed by a period of
Putitanism under Oliver Cromwell. At the
Restoration, Charles II, was a popular choice
with his restoration of sport, theatres and
Christmas! When James II fled he was accused of
‘misgovernment’ and succession passed to Mary
and William of Orange, when rules about the
sovereign being head of the Church of England
and a protestant were confirmed.
On the 7th February 1952 Queen Elizabeth
II began her reign at the age of 25. Her
Coronation was delayed to the following year,
on the request of the Prime Minister (Winston
Churchill) because he would have to fight for
his position in Parliament. It turned out to be
revolutionary, due to the decision to record the
historical event on television. In the 1950’s not
many people had a television; the demand for
them rocketed as people were desperate to
experience the occasion. The decision to film
the Coronation in 1953 changed the course of
social history.
Charles has many challenges to overcome, he
could easily be overshadowed by the long reign
of his mother. He still has detractors because
of his failed marriage with Lady Diana Spencer.
However, the one thing that deserves praise is his
love for the environment. When King Charles was
Prince, he voiced his opinions about everything
– either in a good or bad light. As Monarch, he
is not permitted to speak against something
unless it endangers people’s lives. Despite his
royal duties, it is clear that Charles will continue
to engage in and support others speaking out
about the fate of the environment as shown on
his Coronation emblem and the new coin design.
Both these designs have flowers and botanical
elements in the background. We can infer from
these symbols that Charles feels the
environment is the basis of all life.
Another symbol that gives us more insight into
Charles III’s reign is the Diamond Jubilee State
Coach. This carriage was built for the Diamond
Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II however it missed
its ‘occasion’! The Diamond Jubilee State Coach
has mementos that are significant to Britain.
These memorabilia feature a piece of Florence
Nightingale’s dress, a part of The Mary Rose and
even a carving of Isaac Newton’s Apple Tree.
The choice of this coach, used at King Charles
III’s coronation shows how concerned he is
about the environment.
In conclusion, the Coronation was an event that
was not only watched by millions but marks
a turning point in our history. This ceremony
is important for King Charles III as it serves to
differentiate him from Queen Elizabeth and
Plants or
Paracetamol?
Nature as Medicine
in History and Now
Nature gives and nature sustains. This is an
ancient belief of humans, especially when it
comes to health and medicine.
It is common knowledge that clean food, air
and water can benefit one’s health but modern
medicine’s roots are also inextricably tangled with
the use of natural medicines and nature-inspired
rituals. Though some cultures such as the Hebrew
culture have historically considered illnesses to be
punishments from Gods, others including Chinese,
Indian, Pacific Asian, American Indian and Tibetan
cultures believe in the body’s power to heal itself
with nature’s assistance. Whilst modern medicines
are proved safe and effective through trials, these
complementary and alternate medicines have
intrigued many over the years as they utilise natural
herbs and remedies to ‘naturally’ heal the body.
An example of this attitude towards nature healing
is the ‘father of medicine’ himself, the ancient
Greek physician Hippocrates (460-370 BC) who
prescribed garden stays to his patients to enable
the best healing possible. A Sumerian clay slab
from Ancient Mesopotamia, approximately 5000
years old, is the oldest written evidence for the
use of medicinal plants. It lists 250 plants including
poppy and mandrake within 12 recipes for drug
preparation. The power of plants had been utilised
across the globe as well. India is the country of
origin of the Ayurvedic medicine system which
aims to cleanse the body and uses diet, herbal
medicines, exercise, meditation, and other
techniques to balance the body, mind and
spirit. The spices we use today in a balanced diet
(nutmeg, pepper and clove) are written in the
ancient holy books, the Vedas, as having medicinal
and health-boosting properties.
This may seem fictitious at first but considering that
many modern drugs and antibiotics are derived
from natural compounds in plants and soils, we can
credit our ancestors for their keen observation and
knowledge of the natural world and its benefits.
Native Americans were known to chew willow
bark to lessen aches and pains and the chemical,
salicin, was discovered in it. Therefore, aspirin was
created in 1897, from which other painkillers such
as paracetamol stem from. The ‘miracle drug’,
Penicillin was the first antibiotic to be discovered in
1928 by Alexander Fleming and since its discovery
has saved countless lives and formed the basis for
the development of many other antibiotics. And it
all came from fungus!
An increasing number of people are also eating a
plant-based diet, incorporating immunity-boosting
plants and spices, as a preventative and
complementary form of medicine. Avoiding meat
and animal products, processed foods, alcohol and
sugar can increase health and longevity by reducing
the risk for lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and
cancer. It’s better to be safe than sorry!
Furthermore, nature is medicine for the soul
too. Being outdoors is proven to reduce feelings
of stress or anger and relaxes your mind and
body, enabling you to feel healthy physically
and emotionally. Pranic Healing that uses energy
treatment to harmonise the body’s energy
processes is shown to help cure physical ailments
through the principle that the body has the innate
ability to heal itself.
greener world!
appealed to me because I have a lifelong
fascination of drawing wetland wildlife,
especially birds.
like us, they are on two legs and have expressive
gestures. The drawings you will see are from my
own personal archive, and many have rarely been
seen in public before.
“Through Drawn to Water I hope that seeing
my artwork in places where these creatures are
thriving will allow new audiences to enjoy wetland
Safe & gentle ear wax
removal at a clinic
near you
Microsuctioning
At Hearwego Clinic we provide instant and effective ear wax removal treatment. Microsuction is the gold
standard method of ear wax removal.
Unlike traditional ear syringing or irrigation, which uses water, microsuction uses gentle suction to remove
ear wax. This is a safe, gentle and effective method of ear wax removal and, in the majority of cases, provides
instant relief and immediately restores full hearing. Our Audiologists are trained in all methods
of ear wax removal, microsuction, ear irrigation (commonly known as ear syringing) and
instrumentation.
What to expect at your appointment
At Hearwego our practitioners will use a microscope to see a detailed view of your
ear canal and examine the potential build-up of ear wax. Ear wax and debris are
removed using a gentle device. Our appointments include an examination of your
ears and removal of ear wax using microsuction, which typically lasts between 10-30
minutes. Depending on the consistency of the wax, we may need to revert to ear
irrigation (commonly known as ear syringing) or instrumentation. In rare cases, a
follow-up visit may be required to remove particularly stubborn ear wax.
Living with
Dementia
eight differences between these two pictures. Can you spot them?
Dementia devastates lives. Alzheimer’s
Society research shows that 900,000
people in the UK have a form of
dementia. By 2025, 1 million people will
be living with the condition in the UK,
and many millions more carers, partners,
families and friends are affected.
Lasting power of attorney…
A person with dementia will eventually lose
the ability (or mental capacity) to make some
decisions for themselves.
While the person has mental capacity to do
so, they can choose someone who they want
(known as an ‘attorney’) to make decisions
on their behalf when the time comes. This
should be someone they trust.
The person with dementia can give this
power using a document called a Lasting
power of attorney (LPA). There are two
types:
TOWEL
WAVES
• an LPA for BATHING decisions about BEACHBALL health and
welfare – this CURRENT covers the treatment DECK CHAIRand care
they receive FISHING and where they SHRIMPING should live.
BIKINI
CLIFFS
SHELLS
SURFER
PARASOL
9 letters
SUNSCREEN
• an LPA for decisions about property and
financial affairs – this covers their bank
accounts, bills, tax, pensions and deciding
what happens to their home.
It’s a good idea for the person to make
both types of LPA. Different attorneys can
be appointed to make different kinds of
decisions and there can be more than
one attorney. This may be helpful if one
is a partner of similar age or has health
problems of their own.
Making an LPA involves filling out forms
that then must be registered with the Office
of the Public Guardian (OPG) to be used.
Alzheimer’s Society offers a service to help
people create and register LPAs using the
OPG’s online tool. To find out more, the
person with dementia can call Alzheimer’s
Society on 0333 150 3456. This service does
not offer legal advice.
