of athletic arena
VSL strengthened a university athletic
facility utilizing a unique application
of post-tensioning that provided a
structurally elegant and
aesthetically pleasing
resolution.
The strengthening solution
consisted of 4 hoops of
15.2 mm-10 strand,
external multistrand
tendons. Each hoop has tendons
that were anchored and stressed at
90-degree intervals circumferentially
around the dome. The tendons were
fully encapsulated in highperformance,
co-extruded HDPE
ducts and grouted to ensure longlasting
durability.
