Sector-Based Work Academy Programmes (SWAP)

The College works closely with businesses to deliver

which provide tailored training for unemployed people

to learn and gain employment with local organisations

who are recruiting. Businesses who have partnered

These tailored programmes last 6-12 weeks and are

FREE COURSES FOR JOBS

OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE WITH LOW INCOME

The Government’s Free Courses for Jobs Offer enables those aged 19+ to gain valuable skills

on Level 3 courses, to progress in their career or re-train in a new sector - and for free!

If you’re aged 19 or over, you could access a Level 3 qualification for free. There is government support available

to help you gain skills that employers are looking for in sectors where they are needed. In turn you can improve

your job prospects and earn a higher wage, whatever your stage of life.

Whether you qualify is down to your age, current earnings and current qualifications. You could

be eligible for free courses if:

> You are 19+ and earning under the National Living Wage (£21,255, or £20,319 if not from an eligible

regional postcode*), regardless of your previous qualifications

OR

> You are 19+ and earning over the National Living Wage but it is your first Level 3 qualification

We aim to make as many courses as possible

free for people with a low income. You may be

eligible for a 100% fee reduction on courses

marked with the symbol if you meet

the below criteria:

> If you are in receipt of benefits and actively seeking

employment or in work earning less than £21,255

annually or £20,319 annually if not from an eligible

regional postcode from the following list:
