Sincerest thanks to everyone who took
part in our 30th Anniversary celebrations
which had fantastic support from the
Community.
Oakhaven Matters
There is always more
available on our website at
www.oakhavenhospice.co.uk
or via our social media feeds
which are linked from the
homepage of the website.
Our thanks as ever go to our
wonderful volunteers and
dedicated staff who enable us
to provide our much-valued
services to those affected by
life-limiting illness across our
New Forest, Waterside and
Totton communities. We are
also hugely grateful to those
who help us in so many other
ways – as supporters, partners
and fundraisers. Thank you.
Welcome to our Spring/Summer edition of the
newsletter. We are delighted that due to an
extremely generous donor we plan to develop a
new Nurse Specialist role to work directly with
patients and families affected by Dementia.
The Retail team are growing and we have a new shop in
Lymington, with more planned. Ampress Park, Fairview and
Highcliffe continue to grow, so thank you for all your donations
and purchases – they are amazingly generous as the shops are
entirely dependent on your support.
Our Wellbeing services provide support for visitors to the
drop-in centre, for anyone impacted by illness and we have
trained volunteers who are there to chat over a cup of coffee
and cake and have additional support groups. Oakhaven now
cares for in the region of 1,000 patients, carers and bereaved
every year.
Our lovely fundraising team work hard to raise funds for the
Hospice and have planned many events including the Family
Fun Day being held on Saturday 24th June – hopefully we will
see you there, along with some sunshine. Also looking forward to
seeing you at the Annual Golf Day at Barton On Sea.
Oaktober is a new fundraising initiative where for the whole
month of October, you can choose your own way to raise
funds – the challenge is to be different. I’ll be looking out for
some interesting ideas! For a full explanation, there is more
info on page 20, or at www.oakhavenhospice.co.uk/oaktober.
Sustainability is key to the future of the hospice and regular
giving is one of the ways we rely upon our community as an
income stream. Thanks to all who continue to support us so
generously.
Lastly, it just leaves me to say I hope that you and your
families have a lovely Summer.
