Spring/Summer 2023

Do it for

Oaktober

This October do something different to make a difference

This year we have decided to dedicate

a whole month to Oakhaven. Walk it,

teach it, wear it, drink it or donate it,

there are so many ways you can ‘do it’ for

Oaktober. We want the whole community,

schools, and businesses to get involved and get

fundraising. What will you do?

Can you run, cycle or swim a mile a day?

Host a cocktail evening or cookery class? Can

you give up coffee, chocolate or crisps? No

challenge is too big or small to have fun and get

fundraising this October.

Get involved in our ‘Wear it Green Day’ on

the 20th October 2023. You could simply wear

green eyeshadow, don your favourite green

socks or be flamboyant in a green feather boa!

Just wear green and donate what you can. If

you can’t make this date, pick another, and

let us know. Local business? Why not get your

colleagues involved in your own tea/coffee

morning on ‘Wear it Green Day’. There is so

much value in a good cuppa!

And if you can handle this, maybe you’ll be

ready to take on the ultimate challenge ‘The

Fire and Ice Walk’ and the flaming finale to

Oaktober! Join us in the hospice gardens on

Wednesday 25th October where the bravest

‘soles’ will walk over broken glass and hot coals

in the twilight. Friends and family are welcome

along to offer encouragement and celebrate

their achievements. You have to be 11 years old

to take part, but any brave ‘soles’ over the age

of 5 years can take on the Lego Walk.
