Des perspectives pour la préservation de la
biodiversité de cette forêt?
Vohibola a longtemps fait partie des ‘forêts oubliées’.
Pourtant les arbres des forêts sont au cœur même
des solutions basées sur la nature pour faire face à
l’urgence climatique.
Le pouvoir de préserver la faune et la flore
endémiques de l’aire protégée de Vohibola, est confié
à ceux qui les connaissent le mieux: la communauté
locale. Le fameux lovainjafy, héritage pour les petits
enfants, tant prôné aujourd'hui. Notre souci majeur a
été trop longtemps le manque de moyens financiers.
Grâce à un engagement financier de notre
partenaire Univet Nature, nous pouvons repousser
et faire front aux squatteurs extérieurs, avec la force
des gendarmes et des agents forestiers du MEDD,
et nous pouvons enfin adopter les procédures de
conservation pérennes.
Cette année encore la course solidaire contre la
déforestation et le droit à l’éducation des enfants de
l’école Ste Thérèse, à Ozoir la Ferrière, prendra tout
son sens. Et nous avons l’espoir!
Ainsi que l’ONG Humy ou l'association Emmanuel,
vous pouvez vous aussi soutenir l’application du
projet « 1 arbre = 1kg de riz » à chaque reboisement
villageois. Pour restaurer en paix Vohibola avec la
communauté.

What are the perspectives for the preservation of the
biodiversity of this forest?
For a long time, Vohibola was one of the ‘forgotten
forests’. But the trees in forests are at the very heart of
the nature-centred solutions needed to cope with the
emergency of climate change.
The power of conserving the endemic fauna and
flora of the protected area of Vohibola, has been
entrusted to those most familiar with the forest: the local
community. It is the famous lovainjafy, heritage for our
grandchildren, advocated by so many today. For too
long, our main concern was lack of funds.
Thanks to a financial commitment made by our
partner Univet Nature, we can now keep away squatters
from outside and defend the forest against them,
with the support of the military police and the forest
rangers of the MEDD and we can at last take long-term
conservation measures.
This year, the race against deforestation and the right
to an education for the children of the Ste Thérèse
school at Ozoir la Ferrière will once more take on all its
meaning. Also, we now live in hope!
In the same way as the NGO Humy or the Association
Emmanuel, you too can give your support to the project
‘1 tree = 1 kilo of rice’ each time a tree is planted by
the villagers. To restore Vohibola by the community in
peace.
